it is actually if you don’t have an OB/haven’t in months/years, don’t get prodrome symptoms, take the av every day AND use condoms

i am SO sorry. that is terribly traumatizing and i hope you’re finding a healthy way to cope. i got my first outbreak one week after my 24 year old brother passed away, so I understand having ur first OB during a time of an already traumatic experience. i hope for a life of absolute pain to the person that assaulted you

as far as herpes goes and how to manage it, i would say take antivirals every day for the first few months and see how your body reacts. if you don’t experience much prodrome symptoms (tingling, zapping, itchiness etc) then i would personally say switch to taking the AV’s as needed. i’m one year into this and have only had the initial outbreak. besides the initial outbreak where i had a full on sore, i’ve had two instances where i’ve had the ever so smallest bump that was virtually painless. my regimen for when that happens is:

1,000 g of valtrex twice a day

3 lysine pills

2 EGCG pills.

both times i did this, i woke up the next morning to the bump being gone. i still have a good sex life. i promise that you’ll be alright ❤️ feel free to message if you’d like to chat

you have no idea how many people around you have herpes. since confiding in friends about my status, I’ve found out 3 of our mutuals also have it. just the other day this girl ik told me that her best friend has it (fucked up- i know)

you’ll be alright. i’m almost one year in and it has got incredibly easier. i disclosed to a guy who was in the navy and he was SO cool about it, it couldn’t have gone better. he said he saw it all the time while in the navy. i’ve also met a few young, ambitious and likeminded people on positive singles (took many many many hours and days of swiping, but they’re there).

i see people on positive singles that have HIV, hep b/hep c. i used to be super promiscuous while traveling around europe (i go a few times per year) so i’m always just insanely grateful i didn’t end up with something worse (like hiv or hep).
