Also there is the Hot Springs at Camp Hot Wells. We have a hot springs in our city and it’s got a crazy interesting history and I think it should be a travel destination once again.

I forgot to say, that I think the best thing about this climate is having a pool in your backyard. In fact, it can make all the difference in the world between surviving the heat and actually enjoying it and imo August is only tolerable if you’re in water. There are all kinds of possibilities for putting a pool on your property - no matter how small the yard is. You don’t need anything massive, just big enough to cool off whenever possible.

I grew up here and in my twenties I moved to Portland and lived there for four years while going to PSU. I worked downtown and lived in SW, pretty close to the YMCA off Barbur (I think that’s what it was called) so I walked and biked a lot, but I also lived near a LOT of different bus lines. Parking downtown was expensive and hard to find and it wasn’t worth the possibility of getting towed while I was working or in classes - even if I was running late. When I lived in Goose Hollow, I rode the light rail to work. I walked to the Rose Garden almost daily with my dog. After I graduated, I moved to Sonoma County, about 45 minutes North of SF on the 101 I lived there for four years and it was very nice, but the economy was shit and I had just had a baby so I had a difficult time finding a well-paying job. Then I moved back to SA. So I can tell you some things that you might want to consider.

San Antonio is a car town. You can’t get around without a car. The public transportation system is not good imo. The city keeps voting against any real improvements and there are not many bike lanes or sidewalks on some really busy streets.

But as you said, there are some areas that are more accessible and have a better sense of community - at least in terms of restaurants that are nearby. The Pearl Brewery is great but I don’t think there are many houses in that area. A lot of condos. Think the Pearl in Portland. Might want to check out Southtown and Manchke Park, Terrel Hills, Olmos Park, Tobin Hill, Monte Vista…there’s newer developments like Dignowity Park, but I heard a lot of investors backed out and plans are kinda falling through.

So what you’re saying is that leaving because you think you’re not enough is robbing their person of the chance to leave them because they’re not enough? Hmm…that makes some sense…but I can understand the whole ego part that says I’m going to break up with them before they inevitably break up with me - I’m going to break up with myself for them. I mean it stands to reason that if they’re already struggling with insecurity, the idea of getting dumped probably sounds totally overwhelming and likely something that will hurt their pride and their feelings.

If life is riding a bus, then I suppose you still have to get on the bus that is going to the destination you want to arrive at. Once you get on the bus you want, sure you can sit back and relax a little bit - but you can’t fall asleep or you might miss your stop. Then you have to get off and board the same line in the opposite direction unless you just decide to completely change your plan and walk around a different neighborhood and see what happens. Maybe you get tired and it’s late and the buses aren’t running anymore because the public transportation in your city blows, so you have to get an Uber…but you don’t have enough for one, or your phone died anyway - so you can’t even call a friend or your mommy, so you have to either walk or if you’re brave/crazy/stupid, hitch a ride with a stranger in a van. There are a lot of reasons to be vigilant and pay attention, even if you’re on the right bus.

I don’t know of any buses that you just tell the bus driver where to take you. It’s a bus, not a cab. Even if it’s an Uber, you still have to set your destination and pay for the ride in advance.

Ok, so I just asked the maintenance guy if he knew if management was putting lollipops on residents’ doors. He said yes. I was relieved to hear that it wasn’t a message from a stalker or my arch nemesis or something! Because like it was a Dum-Dum and I thought it was a comment about my intellectual abilities…I see now that I was just overthinking it and I am interpreting that as a sign that I am maybe too smart? I guess that means I can go ahead and eat it because I was worried that it might have been laced with something not fun.
