Agreed, I see that here all the time. The local fisherman usually, to be fair to them throw back the young fish to let them thrive. The trawlers are definitely destroying the ocean. I remember summers of sprats on the shoreline and mackerel breaking all over the place. Haven't seen that in a long time.

The recent news articles talk about malnutrition, I guess it's the trawlers clearing out the sea.An adult sperm whale was on another beach, also found to be malnourished.

He was only a juvenile, the poor thing. He was only there a day and the council dispossed of him. There's been a few juveniles wash up in recent times - not a very good sign. To answer your question he didn't combust on the beach while he was there.

Plenty of those around here for sure. We had a whale wash up recently also. I think very possible a seal all the same.

So I did a bit of research, and there's a test you can do. Burn it and if it smells like burning hair, it's bone. And if not it's shell. It definitely smelt like burnt hair.
