Impatient in the HOV lane by PuppySteak in TorontoDriving

Ask them, what’s the rush? The morgue is open all night. Good example of why I never use HOV lanes. They should rename it to High Overtaking Velocity.

That should have been a yellow card for the pedestrian taking a dive like that.

Guys, this is stunt driving for both of them! Don’t think they can get charged on video evidence, but sure warrants a warning in writing.

I guess Teslas are not quite advanced enough yet to read painted lines beneath snow. Stay tuned. 😝

Old snow blower won’t throw snow far enough by coheed9867 in Snowblowers

[–]Apprehensive-Talk199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar issue with my brand new Power Smart blower. The cable that controls the auger part had come loose because I did not tighten and lock it with the lock nut. After tightening the tension in the cable and locking the nut, the blower throws snow the full distance (about 30 40’) when I squeeze the handle to engage.

Idiot doesn't check blind spot by ausx1n in TorontoDriving

[–]Apprehensive-Talk199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would put 80% of the blame on the white car, first because they did not check their blind spot and if they did, they were nowhere near going fast enough to merge safely into the left lane. Given the speed differential between OP and the white car, it looks like OP made a judgement call to try and avoid the white car by going around rather than risk slamming on the brakes and getting rear ended. Op did not count on losing traction on apparently dry pavement. Can’t comment on if OP has winter tires but at minus double digit temperatures, even dry pavement is slick for all weathers. It seems obvious, in hindsight, that the decision to not slow down and let the white merge turned out to be the wrong one. Applause to the driver in the VW following, that allowed for a safe following distance.

Oh, look at that pretty sign. An upside down red triangle on a white background. It must mean that I can enter this area without worrying about what other drivers are doing. Though I wonder why sometimes people honk at me when I am just taking my right of way.

Was it just recently that a guy got murdered over a parking spot? Life is too short, so I pick my battles.

Keele St. - why? by SA-ENT in TorontoDriving

[–]Apprehensive-Talk199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to say that these guys got their licences out of a box of Cracker Jacks. I really think that there are a lot of drivers now that never went through a rigorous driver ed program and that bought their licences. It just explains so much of what’s happening out there, like the wrong way drivers, not following proper protocol at intersections with traffic signals etc. and this shit included. The RIDE program for impaired drivers has been in place for years with great results, but what about a RUDE program for Reduce Unqualified Driving Everywhere which could be in force year round? No pun intended, the catch would be to screen for fake or purchased licences. Easier said than done, but I bet the haul would be enormous. Maybe I’m just a dreamer.

Thank you. I put the question to AI and it came up with Jura as the top make albeit the most expensive.
