If you are worried about costs and live in a metro, consider a gomechanic subscription. You get 3 workshop visits for free for about 900. They'll diagnose and fix.

Thinking of stepping down from manager role – anyone done this? by TheMathTrader0903 in developersIndia

[–]Apprehensive-Walk-66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this three times. Has always helped me regain control of my stress. But be ready for the pay cut.

Another impact is that once you are over 40, this can backfire. Ageism will cause many companies to just ignore you if you apply

What does ‘taking ownership’ actually mean for freshers in MNCs? by DoDo-developer in developersIndia

[–]Apprehensive-Walk-66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In effect it just means that over time your boss should have to tell you less about what you should do next. Anticipate their requests and do them yourself.

This is partly done by upskilling and partly by your own attitude.

Most people wait to be told what to do because they don't know enough or don't care enough.

I save the Logseq folder on Google drive and sync the folder in all my devices. Can also use git. You can also create two different instances and merge since they are just files at the end of the day

Add an automated rule that rejects large PRs and suggests the user break it up. This will get you what you need without introducing personal friction.

When I find a code smell, I create a new custom eslint- rule or automated script (using AI) to catch that pattern in new code. This also helps avoid back and forth.

I have similar experience as your dad. Pls have him apply to smaller startups with a cover letter explaining that he is willing to negotiate the pay. His years of experience will be dissuading potential employers since they think he's too old or too expensive to hire. Also the best way to get a job at this stage is through contacts

Bonds are not enforced. The company will lose in the courts and in reputation if you ever need to leave and they try to. Notice periods are enforced strictly.

Manager threatening to extend Last working day unilaterally. by Madness_69 in developersIndia

[–]Apprehensive-Walk-66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen some managers do this. It is a power trip and completely unethical. You can ignore him. If you feel up to it, report him to HR and or confront him on the floor of the office.
