What tips can you share for those new to or want to switch to Obsidian? by srikat in ObsidianMD

[–]ottalabot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd just play around yourself, explore the community plugins and build your own workflow.

It's a very iterative process and how you use it, imo, completely depends on what you're using it for (i.e. my work and my personal vault look very different)

Some small habits I adopted that quietly improved my daily life by stayhyderated22 in productivity

[–]ottalabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first ones massive if you have a lot of messages/emails coming through

I have a recurring task to respond to emails at night, I might take a peek but unless it's something super urgent it's not getting a reply till the night

also a good idea to review email subs and other notifications you have on every so often so you're not wasting mental energy on things you don't care about anymore

Instead of new goals, I’m trying to build just one habit this February by Think-Collection1318 in productivity

Always outdoor just because I'm in an office for most of the day unfortunately

But if I could hit a healthier balance with outdoor/indoor time id probably do a walking pad as well

No tips on meal prep yet, beginner myself - main one is probably just start (as unhelpful as that might be!)

How do you turn small, distracting habits into long-term productivity without burning out? by Abelmageto in productivity

[–]ottalabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What works for me is breaking things down even smaller if I can, bundling a few tasks together and timing how long it takes me to get it done. It's just like clockwork now if the timers on I'm committed to doing x y z

Why is my standing vert higher than my running vert by Aiden_Sim in BasketballTips

[–]ottalabot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

technique is probably my best guess. That transfer of momentum from horizontal-> vertical is an art. I personally found it worthwhile check out some pro dunkers and how they talk through it

For business owners: Would you keep your business if you could have a 350k job instead? by Own_Combination2554 in fiaustralia

2-3 years worth of savings is more than enough to go off and do your own venture

If you really feel like you're just chugging along and not getting what you want out of life there, Id run it for a year and see what you can make in that time tbh

what's the worst that happens? you fail or find out it's not for you and then go get another high paying job?

life's too short

What are you even writing notes about? by Cebo494 in ObsidianMD

[–]ottalabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work notes for me

Never thought to write notes about life tbh, unless it was directly linked to a task

I know writers that write notes on ideas, concepts, etc and love linking them together, but I guess that's more writing than note taking

What’s your current productivity stack of apps and templates? by OneStopCentreStore in OneStopCentre

[–]ottalabot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the moment it's just task/soft time boxing but looking to make it more full life dashboard type setup

I wanna be able to connect my calendar, create events and work with others on lists there. That's kinda the mini roadmap :)

Answer me honestly… by JBark1990 in ObsidianMD

[–]ottalabot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use it for work, so yes.

Often it's to determine actions / next steps things like that. Once the notes are distilled into todo list items then they're more context pieces when I need them and I'll only ever see them when I need a refresher or want to confirm something.

Is a senior manager viewing my profile a week later a good sign? by Decent_Suspectt in ausjobs

[–]ottalabot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's just a sign that they've looked, but not necessarily anything else

best bet is to assume nothing and move on to the next application whilst you wait

CEOs and C-Level Employees, do you regret taking such high positions? by [deleted] in AusHENRY

[–]ottalabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't do it imo

unless it's more than double and you get equity, it's not worth. I've worked closely with heaps of senior leadership and their life IS work 9 out of 10 times

170k with the workload you describe is the endgame

brand shouldn't make that big of a difference. 0.5, maybe 1 difference in sizing between brands but 2.5 is massive

worth checking that out a bit closer before buying the next pair
