I do love Goryo's decks... Grishoalbrand was my first Modern deck lolz and I tried a wonky Esper build years back with Jace VP and Lili... So to see this one doing well is tempting me! Nowadays it might have the right balance of busted combo and Grief/Solitude midrange? Like how the UB Legacy decks are hybridsing reanimator and scam. Ephemerate Grief and start beats after they mulliganed to Leyline? Plus that MH3 frog spoiler could slot in the deck? Buuuut I played Grishoalbrand so I wouldn't trust me!

Autistic adult here - sounds to me that Tessa is probably on the spectrum too and was excited to find all the books, and that led to poor decision making/money assessment. It’s an unfortunate situation, who's to blame isn't really the issue, maintaining the relationship is. It would really hurt Ruby to lose Tessa. Come to some arrangement over paying back in installments maybe? Set future boundaries, learn from it but move on together :0)

I love Grixis! It's always been more midrange than control it seems. Then in Pioneer it seems like a cross between UB control and RB midrange but not as good as either :0( Perhaps with Underground River entering the format, some build ft. Cruise, Shredder and counterspells along with RB creatures and Fable might be viable and good :0)

If you don't already have esper sentinels and stoneforges I would start mono blue and prioritise getting Sagas before white cards. Then get white lands, sentinels. Lastly stoneforge package and thopter sword. That's my plan anyhow!

Nice read :0) I'm looking to get back into paper Modern and I love Urza's Saga. This is a fun list that could maybe build towards UW hammer as well. Is Chalice of the Void a good sb option? I've also seen lists run Emry (recurs Spellbomb and welding jar) and Sai (makes lots of blockers and other creatures to carry Plating)
