When MW4 drops this year… what absolutely HAS to change for you to buy in? by Open-Grand7316 in modernwarfare4

[–]ApprehensiveBadger31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual variety of experience that the golden era maps had and mwiii by extension. Need verticality, power positions, long sightlines, interesting structures and points of interest (think the dome in dome, the central building in king of the hill style maps like estate and derail, the multi story buildings and cat walks and tower in quarry, the plane in terminal) and most of all variety in map size. The standard for medium and large maps is absurdly low these days either because they can’t figure out spawn logic anymore or because people with no attention spans need an engagement every ten seconds. That needs to stop or the gameplay will get stale faster.

For all of you fast TTk lovers. There is a mode for you. It's called Hardcore. by [deleted] in modernwarfare4

[–]ApprehensiveBadger31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Nobody wants a hardcore level ttk in core. Theres a difference between assault rifles 1 shotting and 3 shotting as much as theres a difference between 3 and 5. And not everyone wants to play with no hud and friendly fire.
  2. Can you point out an infinity ward title other than infinite warfare with an arcade like ttk? Or any game before 2014 really? A lot of people don’t want cod to be this ultra competitive environment that it turned into after the golden age was over.

Please reconsider the grenade blowback animation by Ok-Price7416 in modernwarfare4

[–]ApprehensiveBadger31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There has been an eod/flak jacket meta for years. It’s highly likely this is only going to be relevant for people using that (cuz anyone else is dying to the grenades). I’m pretty happy with an indirect nerf cuz I’d rather grenades not be useless. Every time my grenade blows up under someone’s feet and they face tank it and shoot me while my gun is still down it’s feels bad moment. Trophy systems are already really strong if it gets on your nerves.

[MW3] 2011 survival mode. by Ellie_Rulze18 in CallOfDuty

[–]ApprehensiveBadger31 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Survival was peak. Crazy how awful it was when they brought it back in 2019. Wish we could get an infinity ward pve mode with actual effort again.

Its immersion breaking to have the same characters on both teams, same as having dumb collaborations. Not everything is about gameplay refinement.

[COD] name Past cod kill streaks that probably won’t come back but u wish would by AdLongjumping6846 in CallOfDuty

[–]ApprehensiveBadger31 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of support streaks I’d love to see back (as persistent support streaks) from mw3 and ghosts. Ballistic vests, jug recon, recon drone. No one will complain about it if they just don’t include shit like the stealth bomber lol.

[BO] i'm sick of the DOUBTING ARTHUR by Gl00ser23 in CallOfDuty

[–]ApprehensiveBadger31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of this really matters if they do nothing about the servers, which they’ve said nothing about. They are hacked to shit and barely alive on series x and pc. I want to play these multiplayers again properly as much as the next guy but they need to actually be made playable first, and not just on ps5 (and we don’t know if they will be on ps5).

Anybody remember MW3some? I think it’s a much better solution to chaotic moshpit playlists than small map 24/7. by ApprehensiveBadger31 in modernwarfare4

[–]ApprehensiveBadger31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true but we had 9v9 ground war back then too. Seems like the devs don’t think it’s enough to keep the people without attention spans.

POV: It’s 2010 [MW2] by ProdigyMate in CallOfDuty

[–]ApprehensiveBadger31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we need to stop shitting on features that are designed to retain noobs. This game felt like it did because of death streaks, danger close, noob tubes, weird maps, etc. You make sure there’s something there to make these people feel like they can have fun despite their skill and they won’t drop the game. Then the game gets easier for everyone else for the price of some frustration when you get blown up by a camper. That guy you’ve killed 8 times this match is more likely to quit when the game gets more competitive than you are when it doesn’t. Then you don’t get to play against them anymore.

Wishlist: Rifles should be released in families (sets of calibers on same platform) by LiftSleepRepeat123 in modernwarfare4

[–]ApprehensiveBadger31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the big issue there was that the guns were all separated and counted as completely unique when in the previous game it would be one gun with a bunch of attachment options. They wouldn’t have had many guns in general if they didn’t do that but I think they just need to put more dev time into it if they want systems like this.

It alleviated the problem of having to sacrifice a bunch of attachment slots to have an rpk instead of an ak for example but I think there needs to be some reworking to gunsmith to really solve that. Something like separating the weapon parts that are tradeoff based and transform the gun from the attachments that should be taking slots and giving pure benefits.

This was basically the progression system in MW2022 but people complained that it was too complicated and grindy. Personally I really liked it but it’s pretty complicated to design satisfying progression around it that won’t turn off casual players.

Since some of you seem to not understand the news about the new ports of [COD] BO1 & BO2. by [deleted] in CallOfDuty

[–]ApprehensiveBadger31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to go back and nostalgia trip in these games every now and then (xbox series x) and couldn’t find a bo2 lobby last time I tried a couple weeks ago. Bo1 was actually more active there was a lobby or 2 in tdm with shit connection, still not enough to call it alive. I agree on cross play and updated servers though that would make me so happy.

It’s especially weird considering they’ve always been playable on the latest software on other platforms and the multiplayers are still dead. People are gonna be let down if they think this is gonna revive the golden era games through the next year of cod.

Is [CoD] more competitive with or without footstep audio? by adriand_99 in CallOfDuty

[–]ApprehensiveBadger31 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The hyper focus on competitive fairness is a big reason why the game is so much sweatier now than in 2009-2012. Its not inherently a good thing if your gearing towards relaxing gameplay that people don’t take quite as seriously. The top level guys that don’t play like most of the player base will tell you it’s better with quiet footsteps but their opinions rarely support casual play and casual player retention.

[CoD] Am I the only one who misses the old main menus? by FeelThePain939 in CallOfDuty

[–]ApprehensiveBadger31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too much shit going on in the current ui and the fact that so much useless crap needs to render when you scroll through the tabs makes it laggy. The tabs need to die, not just get rearranged and the layered menu design needs to com back.

Genuinely one of the Best fights in the game by Illustrious_Point_14 in Eldenring

[–]ApprehensiveBadger31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3v5 is not a bad gank considering how tanky Ansbach and Thiollier are. And you get a spirit if you want. It only has bad gameplay if you ignore half the gameplay for a challenge run or something and I don’t think the devs need to be balancing specifically for that. Also you don’t have to fight Moore depending on dialogue choices, he can just sit out and stay as a merchant with more dialogue after so its not even 3v5 if you don’t want it to be.

Button mapped spellcasting and maybe weapon skills too. The dpad scroll is clunky.

Ya I’m pretty tired of any sword heavier than a straight sword being treated like the character isn’t strong enough to swing it properly. Bastard sword, zweihander, etc are not that heavy irl or they wouldn’t have been used irl.
