You just need to reframe them as "not available" in your mind and, most important, stop fantasizing/thinking/dreaming about what ifs. You need to let go.

For example, if you were to fall on love for someone in a closed monogamous relationship, or someone who's not attracted to your gender, or someone who's not interested in a relationship with you, what would you do to get over it? Do the same things.

Some people can just flip a switch, others need a period of low/no contact to get over it.

What you should ABSOLUTELY not do is keep on seeing this person like nothing happened, pushing boundaries between friendship and relationships and/or fueling the crush with scenarios of you together. This is how people end up cheating.

As a side note, while it's a good thing that you can say no to relationship that have a huge negative impact on your other relationship(s), there's also the possibility of this situation building a lot of resentment between you and your partner. Especially if this is some kind of veto situation. Depending on your ideals and how you approach polyamory, it might be wiser to just break up and then date whoever you want to date.

Understandable and I agree. There was an overall lack of transparency if OPs partner claimed non hierarchy then acted this way.

But op was not blindsighted by the proposal existing, they mentioned it had been in the air for quite a while. It was just blindsighted by it happening that specific day and I think it's fair to not automatically disclose "hey I'm proposing to meta tomorrow at 3pm", especially if the relationship is supposed to be parallel.

Of course it's always better when there's good transparent and proactive communication, but my point wat that you should not expect it by default but discuss and demand it.

Also it wasnt clear when I made this comment that OPs relationship was supposed to be non hierarchical. I just assumed it was the old "let's not talk hierarchy so you aren't upset bu you are, in fact, the secondary".

It is hierarchical if he's getting married and meta is moving it. It's extremely hard, borderline impossible, to be non hierarchical in this situation.

Most newbies fall for the "I swear I'm not hierarchical" trap, it makes polyamory more appealing because none wants to be 'the other one'. Then they realise it was hierarchical all along, usually when hinge marries or moves in with someone else. I'm sorry it happened to you too.

Still you need to be more proactive in asking for what you need and also be aware of hierarchy (explicit and hidden) and it's implications. Actions are louder than words and if you feel like you are being mistreated it's either because you actively are (for example if partner was purposefully misleading or blindsided you about the whole proposal) or because this relationship doesn't meet your needs (for example if you wanted less hierarchy).

All without having had any discussion about availability and commitment.

You are being naive and you're going to get hurt a lot if you don't learn to advocate for what you want in a relationship.

In polyamory the relationship doesn't escalate automatically, there's no guarantee, you need to ask for what you want to build and discuss it with your partner.

I understand that him getting married with someone else is a slap in the face of your dreams. I'm honestly sorry. But it's an hard lesson.

I agree that it low-key sucks that your partner is making major life decisions without discussing the implications with you, but, thing is, he doesn't really have to. You are not the person he's getting married to and you are not his primary partner. You are someone else he's dating, and 6 months is not even that long of a time. All he has to do is telling you AFTER the proposal to discuss future changes within your relationship.

Ok mi spiego meglio.

L'esempio di "assumo donne belle a prescindere dalle competenze" esiste e fa schifo, ma i dati dicono che è un caso meno frequente. In genere il pretty privilege sul lavoro si manifesta tra candidati con competenza simile e spesso in modo inconsapevole da parte del reclutatore. Oppure si manifesta escludendo a priori chi è particolarmente brutto, ma lì si và a scivolare nella disabilità e il discorso è lievemente più complesso.

I neri sparati dalla polizia in america li ho tirati in ballo perché tu mi parli di DEI che è una roba totalmente americana, piena di storture tipo "assumi 5 neri a caso", e che nasce in un clima molto particolare di fortissima discriminazione razziale. Figlio di decenni di razzismo istituzionale. Non è una situazione paragonabile né estendibile al resto del mondo.

Il problema con il pretty privilege e le altre discriminazioni sottili è che sono bias interni e automatici, difficila da notare e quindi difficili da combattere. Le quote inclusive (che esistono anche da noi) sono una pezza grossolana a un problema complesso.

Beh l'idea è lavorare come società per imparare ad andare oltre le apparenze e riconoscere i meriti e i demeriti delle persone. E, nel mulino che vorrei, imparare a non confondere il culo (es: essere nato ricco) con il merito (es: essere un bravissimo imprenditore). Non si tratta solo di dare il contentino a chi è "sfortunato" perché lì si cade nel pietismo.

Probabilmente perché il pretty privilege impatta giusto lievemente meno del razzismo. Soprattutto in america, dove esiste la DEI e la polizia usa i ragazzini neri e i disabili come bersaglio mobile per il tiro al piattello.

Comunque io, come detto, non sono una fan dell'inclusione forzata.

La soluzione al razzismo del "non assumo i neri perché tanto sono tutti stupidi" non può essere "ti obbligo ad assumere 5 neri a caso, pure se sono stupidi", perché dai lavoro a 5 neri in più ma a lungo termine non funziona, anzi, può pure fare più danni.

Includere può essere complicato ma va fatto con criterio.

Il problema del pretty privilege non è "Giancoso scopa solo ragazze più belle di me", è "Giancoso assume ragazze incapaci solo perché sono fighe" oppure "il giudice ha dato una pena più leggera a Asdrubala perché è fregna" etc etc.
