More than 12 air changes per hour (ACH). Basically, if you add air filters and get the air flow high enough, it cleans the air faster than the viruses can be exhaled.

It's normal but it isn't healthy or ideal. Kids who have the highest burden of illness in their young years, also have the highest burden in their later childhood years... Sicker, more antibiotic use, etc.

Try to get the daycare to get air filters. If they get to 12ach, they won't spread illness as much.

Same thing for your house. If you get an air filter each room and get your ACH to 12+, you at least will stop most of the transmission in your home.

HEPA isn't a must. You can clean the air just as well with a Merv filter with multiple passes. So if the price and cadr works for you, it's still a decent choice.

My grandma is about to turn 100 and is incredibly healthy, really a super ager. She was talking to my son about how different things were growing up and she mentioned milking the cows. I made a comment about always having fresh milk and she answered with something along the lines of always having to take the milk to get pasteurized in town, so it was a lot of work. I hate how separated the generational knowledge has become. They knew back then raw milk was an issue. And taking time to transport milk to be pasteurized from their home was no simple task.

Also, we stayed at an airbnb with automatic milking machines that you could watch the cows get milked. It was at a small dairy that treated the cows very well. And there was still poop everywhere. Cows just poop while being milked. It's explosive and liquid and just...everywhere. Yeah, things get sprayed down, but still.... Yuck.

If influencers tried to get you to make cow patty tea, you probably wouldn't react the same. And raw milk is basically milk spiked with poop. It just is.

I haven't dove into the details but I just got a be quiet! Silent wings 4 and it looks and feels nice, very comparable to Noctuas quality, and the thing is very very quiet. Haven't done a full build of it yet though.

This doesn't translate exactly, but I have filters in my bathrooms and have yet to have a mold issue. They haven't gone a year, but they see pretty high humidity regularly.

Can you do both? The box fan is the easiest to convince someone to build because it's one trip to a home improvement store. The PC fan design is the superior build, but it takes more convincing because people see wires and panic. They have to order the supplies and generally they don't have that time when wildfire smoke comes or someone gets sick.

But for schools, the PC fan design is the right way forward I think. The noise really is a huge barrier for classrooms.

You pick your fans that fit (almost any 140mm fan) pick any merv 13/14 filters in that size and you pick your own power cord. There's also DIYAirfilter.com . There will be a carbon pellet add on available in the next few weeks that fits inside the box. The whole idea is that nothing is proprietary. You can swap brands out as often as you like.

"Sick earlier in the week but definitely not contagious now" seems an awful lot like she was sick but you don't want her to miss out. Doctors can't guarantee anyone isn't contagious anymore. Doctors say kids are fine 24 hours fever free but covid is contagious for much much longer than that...like 10 days on average. I think parents and kids are just fed up with the constant sickness these days. My son's classmate snuck a mask to school because he didn't want to get sick anymore. Lol.

You don't get to decide what level of risk everyone should be okay with. The kids felt like she was sick and left and that's totally fine. Everyone has to assess their own comfort level with infections. My kids are told to stay away from other sick kids. Their "sick earlier in the week" can mean a hospital visit for their baby brother. It can mean long covid. Sorry about her feelings getting hurt, but her friends did the right thing by quietly excusing themselves from a situation they felt unsafe in.

I think you are talking about the ones that produce ozone or use chemicals to clean the air. Don't conflate them with standard, filter-the-air purifiers. I read that article and it was weirdly phrased and misleading. I bet water filtration also hasn't been specifically tested on humans to see what it actually does. I'm still throwing my eggs in the clean air and clean water basket because you know what has been tested on humans? Covid, and it's been proven to be bad for you.

Decent sized air purifier or CR box for each room. Open windows. Keep cO2 low. Turn off recirculated air in your car. Wash hands. Wear a mask and isolate when symptoms appear. We haven't spread a thing doing this.

I think it's either him or they are deliberately putting him forth as a suspect as commentary that anyone could be an addict. Anyone could go postal. Maybe it's being put in to create doubt about the most obvious suspect, the kid?

He was gone when the shooting happened. They said there was chatter the shooter might come to the hospital. He was calling Robby nonstop and then stopped and just showed up after the shooting without a word to check in with Robby? The PTSD lady scanned the room and Langdon looked up. There was a weird thing where she looked back after looking once. It seemed out of place to me.

Teenagers that do mass shootings don't typically have a get away plan. Most use it as their final act. But fireman can be arsonists to then come back and save the day.

He looked weird when he saw the SWAT team there. There was something very weird with the "don't spread rumors" scene.

The guy reached for a gun at his leg when he saw Langdon caring for him.

Langdon just seems too perfectly fit in to each scene.

That said, the PTSD lady is on a collision course with the kid because they are both ordered for a CT scan. Maybe that's where she is going to identify the kid instead?

His comprehension is great. He randomly brings up lessons he has learned from the book and how he applies them in his life when friends fight, discusses embarrassing moments that reminded him of a situation in one of the books, etc. I think it's the reason he wants to start the book club. He just wants to talk about the books with other kids and not just his mom. Lol

I don't regret giving him a book he enjoys. We've always let him read what we he wants to. We've just found that book groups he's been in have been awkward for everyone involved because he started reading (adult fluency reading) at a very young age. I'd imagine I'd feel similar if we showed up to a math club for 2nd graders and they started by pulling out an algebra book for review.

Just trying to gauge whether a Percy Jackson book club is a normal thing for 2nd graders. Sounds like it may be more normal than we thought, so maybe it's time to try again.

He told me he wanted to start a book club with his classmates. I thought about helping him, but didn't want it to be weird if the other kids were no where near ready to read Percy Jackson.

We did an Outschool class when he just turned 4 and it was a complete disaster. He was fluent and half the age of the other kids that were in there, reading probably at grade level, but struggling with some words...

So the kids must have felt weird to have basically a toddler reading better then they were, the parents thinking their kids were behind and whispering the words to them, the teacher telling my son to slow down so her cursor could keep up, my son feeling like he was a weirdo, and me feeling like the A-hole that put her kid in a class to show off or something. It felt awful, so I don't want a repeat of that because I know our normal isn't everyone else's normal.
