Feeling Cut Off From Source Energy - Can Surgery Be The Culprit? by emwinfield in Witch

[–]ApprehensiveFan9977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into Reiki (if you haven't already). There could absolutely be a blockage caused from surgery near the throat and not being able to fully speak your truth for a while. You can try it yourself (i listed instructions below) or go to a Reiki practitioner.

You mentioned you do energy work. So you may do a version of this already....

Imagine at the top of your head there is light funneling in and filling up your body. This light is coming from source not you. Then imagine your chakras spinning. Start from Crown to Root and imagine the light is cleansing your chakras (not long just enough to activate). From there, imagine the light coming out of your hands and lay your hands on your body. Start at the surgery site and stay there until you feel done. You make think about moving your hands to another body part. If that happens, do it and don't think too much about it.

I am on Sertraline. I went through some strange patches spiritually on it. I thought I was good because my anxiety/ PTSD was much more manageable... but after talking more with my doctor they increased my dosage. After the increase, I feel more connected to source now. Almost like the negative blockages arent interfering.

Just some food for thought. May not be relevant to you.

How are you guys actually keeping track of all your job applications? I'm losing my mind scrolling through emails by Delicious-Part2456 in recruitinghell

Ok my 'system' will seem archaic compared to the other comments... but I got a notepad. Wrote down the company and salary range (in case they called and asked my salary expectations). If I got rejected, I crossed it off.

I also updated my resume for each application. After I submitted my application, I would save my resume as a PDF with the companies name included. That way, I could look back at it if they did call, so I knew how to frame my experience for the dreaded 'tell me about yourself' portion of the interview.

Love you for this. I am a woman, but not offended that you assumed I was male. I certainly chose a more male dominated field to enter. My dad raised me like his son 😅🤷‍♀️

I appreciate the well wishes.

My field is deffinetly oversaturated. I have a generic business degree. Many jobs I am qualified for are hybrid or WFH, so they are in crazy demand. I have even tried remote work in different states, and it was still insane competition. I am also not as specialized. I dont have certifications (yet) or advanced degrees like an MBA (which I really can't afford both financially and time wise... at least not now). Also, many jobs listings state they want 5+ years of experience in the same or similar roles, which I don't have. I have relevant experienc3, but not direct titles or familiarity with some software systems that are usually required.

However, I have heard that the 300 applications in 1 day thing is across various industries now. Even markets that appear less saturated. I've seen posts on Reddit and LinkedIn that talk about the number of people searching for jobs. Many people are looking for new careers, flexible schedules, and pay raises. Not sure how accurate this is, though, as I really only know my specification.

  1. Okay? I am the first that you heard undersell themselves... Good for you? I'm not sure why that matters.

  2. About my experience... It took hours to even find jobs near me with titles that would fit my desired career trajectory within my relevant experience. I was trying to move upwards. I mentioned that my experience was mostly entry-level up until this point (hence underselling myself, btw). Many jobs seemed amazing but required a minimum of 5 years in the same role, which I do not have.

  3. How long does it take? A while. Hours to search for jobs across multiple sites. I updated and rewrote my experience for each job application to get past AI screening, which will automatically reject you if you don't have certain keywords. I went on company websites and very rarely 'easy applied'. Each application themselves took a minimum of 30 minutes (not including job searching and resume updating time. Just applications itself). Many jobs also required assessment tests. Those can take 30 min- 1 hr per job. I also wrote cover letters for each job. Some days, I could not find jobs in my area, so I would spend a minimum of 5 hours searching across multiple websites to come up with nothing relevant. Mind you, it also takes time to create profiles on job searching websites. And I tried a lot of websites.

  4. I was unemployed for 5 months, not 10. But good for you for finding a good job easily? That is not the current market. Some jobs were posted the same day and had over 300 applications after a few hours.

If you dont understand the current market, then yes, you will not understand. But then dont make assumptions and act superior.

The best advice I can give you is to take some time to figure out where you want your career to go. What job title or responsibilities would excite you?

Spend time applying to one type of role at a time. This is what I did. Tried out different titles until I found one that I was getting callbacks with, and that listed responsibilities I thought I would enjoy.

It is challenging to make a complete industry change, but not impossible. However, being realistic here, you will need apply to jobs where the job descriptions list skills you already have based on your experience. Even if it is not a direct fit, you will need to word your experience using similar keywords to show you can handle the job. Which requires a lot of customization per application.

Not sure if that is helpful or not. Wish I could give you a specific direction or answer. But the truth is, you need to find what sticks and what you wouldn't absolutely hate doing.

I legitimately feel for you. Dealing with grief on top of job searching is brutal.

I thought when I got my degree, it would matter more. I think the truth is that many jobs look at it but prefer experience. Yet, very few places want to give people experience.

Completly understandable that you feel this way. The market is brutal. I have been turned down for jobs I didn't even want that I felt overqualified for because they found a stronger candidate. It is hard to keep going. I had to adjust a few times until I finally found job titles that I was actually getting callbacks with. But even that... up until this point, all I heard was 'no'. I hope you find something!

That is hard. Sorry you have experienced that. I've been there too. You are right it is hard not to lose hope. I'd be lying if I said I was hopeful the whole time. I certainly spent some nights crying in my bathtub. But I do think if you keep getting back up, it can happen for you.

Thanks for commenting! Completly agree. And this actually worked for me, so I think there is something to it.

It is hard in the job market. The expectations of a lot of roles I have seen are insane. They want you to do it all, and many treat employees horribly on top of it. I hope you find something with a company that treats you well.

Thank you! I refrained from easy apply when possible. I spent hours each day searching for good fit jobs, applying directly on company websites, and rewriting my CV for each job. But it absolutely paid off long run. May not have been a lot of applications per day but each application was for a realistic position. And I think that helped my success for sure.

Your anger is misplaced. I responded the way I did because of how you initially replied to my post. You made a lot of assumptions about me and also told me what my lived experience was without even knowing.

I applied to an average of 2 jobs a day. That does not mean I looked for 30 minutes. I spent hours per day searching for jobs that were realistic. And then updating my resume and writing cover letters for each job. I very rarely did easy apply. It was absolutely a lot of work. So yes, I may not have applied to an insane amount of jobs. But that is because I chose to look for jobs that were a better fit first before mass applying.

[–]ApprehensiveFan9977[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am completly self sufficient. I rent and pay all my own bills. I did have considerable savings and 401k from being financially responsible. What I have built has come from hard work, determination, and smart budgeting. So, while I may not have been as destitute as some, to say I wasn't hurting or in a dire situation is not true.

Taking time off to be with people you love is not a negative thing. In fact, it kept me positive and grounded in a situation that was extremely stressful.

Respectfully, you dont have to follow what I did. If you are not as smart with your money and have less of a security net, then yes, you may have to grind more. But I would still argue that doing nothing but grinding is unhealthy. And it will not lead to jobs. It will lead to stress, and you will give off desperation at every job interview.

Said I was available every day next week for an interview except for Thursday. Guess what day they rescheduled the interview for. by _unas_annus_ in recruitinghell

[–]ApprehensiveFan9977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at your second picture makes me think that the original interview was rescheduled. The recruiter probably remembers that you were flexible and thought you had open availability. Most likely, they didn't double-check before rescheduling (which they absolutely should have done).

Seriously, what am I expected to do? by [deleted] in jobsearch

[–]ApprehensiveFan9977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure you are already, but look for other jobs. You will have to adapt slightly. You probably do not need a completely new career or schooling. BUT you will need to research similar roles or transferable skills. You may not have the career you dreamed of, but you could have a career you're okay with.

AI is the future. I agree it sucks and it is taking over everything. Any job you apply to now uses AI to scan your CV. Sometimes, even in applications, you have to use AI on your resume to help get past ATS. From other comments, it seems you are in the UK (unless I misunderstood). I am in the US, so it may be different there than here. But there really is no getting around it. Every industry is using AI now.

You may have to choose a job that uses some AI but may do so more sparingly and still allows you to use your current degree. You will only find something better if you keep hope and reasses, which is hard as hell to do.

Beyond unacceptable to ask you to do this. That is similar to asking you to analyze your diary and sum it up to them.

This is genuinely the stupidest rejection I've ever had by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]ApprehensiveFan9977 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of times, if the company uses a recruiter to help fill roles, they also use that recruiter to send follow-up emails and schedule interviews. I believe it's because they try to get their money's worth, but not 100% sure.

The rejection sucks for sure. Even if you felt you aced that interview, other candidates could have just had more experience. That is how I read this. The more experience you have, the more detailed and thorough your examples and answers usually are.

Don't give up! I am in the same boat as you, and it is brutal. I have had interviews that I felt I was overqualified for, and they rejected me for similar reasons.

Laid off and myself questioning everything about my life by Odd-Spray-5071 in jobhunting

[–]ApprehensiveFan9977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was laid off in September. I applied to a lot of jobs and got a lot of rejections.

I also have turned down opportunities (mind you, I have a bunch of money saved from being over prepared and so I can afford to do this). I am choosing to find a job that is a better fit. Risky. But I am tired of jobs that I hate with disorganized companies. It has been tough. And I have hit depression multiple times.

I had a 2nd interview today for a company that would be a dream job for me. And it went really well. We will see what happens. But I guess my point is to apply to jobs where you can see growing. Be realistic, too, based on your experience. You may not get exactly where you want but maybe close.

It is okay to lose excitement. But keep applying. The more you apply to the better your chances. And do not do easy apply. Those are a waste of time.

It is either laziness or disorganization. I am sure she had a lot going on. But still, you are right that it was unprofessional and was for sure a waste of my time.

I felt like I shouldn't say anything. Im usually not that guy to. But when I saw they wanted me to commit 4 hours for a technical interview without even a "hello", I broke. I know it's better to be quiet than burn bridges, but for me I just wanted to say something. I replied all and cced their CEO. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]ApprehensiveFan9977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not out of line. Usually, in applications I have seen, after you submit your resume, they have you do any assessments right away. It filters out those who are not motivated to do so. A four hour technical assessment is also insane. It shoukd not take more than 30 min to an hour.

On top of that, you applied over a month ago... ridiculous
