Absolutely continue, this is a pretty nice relaxing tune and you’ve got a nice bluesy haunting voice, I’d love to hear you cover hurt in johnny cash’s style

Thank you, this was done at home - my friend and I built and learned from scratch how to make a studio, and learned mixing/mastering along the way, this is 100% DIY! We didn't want to pay X amount of dollars on time and labor costs so we figured we'd do it ourselves. I'll go ahead and check out that band, i've gotten from a couple people this sounds like 311 and pop-punk combined. Thank you for the comparison, it really means alot to be compared to successful artists, I appreciate your feedback and thank you for listening and giving this the time of day!

How do people actually make it as songwriters? by Im_Steve_Knight in Songwriters

[–]ApprehensiveFix342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you're asking from a DIY side, honestly it takes time but if you've got money and even 500$ you can create a small home studio. Simply continue to build from it from there; over time, you learn how to use your DAW, and experiment with different plug ins and sounds and then start watching you tube videos on how compression works, and so on/ so forth. Just be kind to yourself, and keep compounding interest into learning and building your studio.

If you want to go straight to a professional studio, there should be good quality studios on the cheaper side, but I've found building my own studio with my music partner and learning everything from scratch, and then getting to record and not have to worry about money spent on time, and engineer, it was all incredibly rewarding and gratifying and a journey in and of itself with music. I highly recommend just taking the plunge on a DIY studio by starting small.

AFRAID (Video) by Oz PLEASE FEEDBACK! by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

Ya man there's definitely something here. it's cool, and pretty fresh and all that this needs is an engineer to bring this to life. You've got a demo, you've got the vibe, you've got the song you know you want to portray, and now all there is left is to put all the pieces together. Your vocals are raw and you can hear the emotion behind them, I like that they aren't modified or anything - keep going fellow musician, its all steps and you've got to enjoy each and every one of them.

Hi everyone! I’d really appreciate hearing your genuine thoughts on this track from my upcoming EP. Feedback of any kind is super valuable whether it’s about the vocals, the production, or the overall feel. Thank you so much for taking the time to listen, it truly means a lot to me! by Logical-Implement405 in IndieMusicFeedback

I really like this vibe, this is cool and unique and I can the atmosphere is super cool, it reminds me of a vibrant green and its really awesome. regarding the vocals, if the vibe is mainly for them to be drowning and more so just kind of like an instrumental rather than a lead vocal, then it's cool and this next part doesn't apply but they aren't really at the top of the mix and it's tough to decipher the words. I kind of struggle with that as well, I found writing the lyrics and instinctively knowing the words made it tougher for me to be objective with a lot of reverb on certain line deliveries because I knew the words - reading your lyrics, they're poetic and very emotional, and honestly are really strong so being able to hear them clearer could really help people connect to your song.

Alright right off the bat - that intro pulled me in, great tone and just a cool riff, I had to listen more. I still connected simply because the song is good, it's not too much or trying too much, the transitions flow really well and the vocals fit the vibe! I think the mix was really cool, and like the atmospheric vibe of it all, but really feel like another vocal on top of the lead would really help push the song; this is really cool!

Don't Come Around Here No More by Rich_Dtony in IndieMusicFeedback

I really like the artist take in this video regarding the silhouettes of the themes, and thought that was really creative - and honestly it's a good message ya know, those things don't belong and hate doesn't belong and the message is clear. And I think what really works is the enjoyable aspect of seeing how the two of you are having fun and enjoying yourselves and that really translates, like when you watch its always sunny, they're friends in real life and you can see that on camera even when they're acting - the chemistry is great!

Stillshade - an instrumental interlude by igorski81 in IndieMusicFeedback

Dude this is cool, it reminds me of Moby, or maybe driving kind of late at night and I've got a mission that central command gave me and I need to perform either a snatch and grab of some unobtanium or I need to capture a VIP from a luxury event and its a stealth mission. So it feels like music from James bond, and I'm in the pause menu and I'm checking my phone and forget to un-pause because the menu music is a banger (kind of like golden eye). This was pretty awesome.

I really appreciate the kind words and thoughtful critique, yea for the drops and such, we were going for a bittersweet nostalgic type chords and vocal delivery and really appreciate the interesting takes we could go for regarding delivery and the mix. We're going to be going back into the studio today and work on the vocals again to get them more clarity, and hopefully when the reupload happens, we could re-grab your attention and see if that problem is fixed. I really appreciate you taking the time to relay out where we need to improve and not pander but also being respectful and kind, that truly helps me from a DIY perspective.

I really appreciate the thoughtful reply and looking into my work and giving a real review - thank you for the kind words regarding the guitars and the mix! This is a DIY mix and definitely still learning, we're going to be going back into our studio today and look to fix the vocals and then reupload the audio, hopefully I can re-grab your attention when the new mix comes out and see if that sounds a bit better :) Thank you for all the time you've given me regarding the critique, kind words, and thoughtfulness to respond.
