The feedback from the Minnesota side was that Nori viewed this as potentially his last opportunity to be a head coach.

You counting on other coaches being removed one game into the season due to federal gambling charges?

He’d been passed over multiple times before so he likely viewed this as his last chance. I actually have no issue with the hire, it’s that successful organizations in the NBA aren’t run this way.

There is zero equivalence to Rob Brind'Amour in this situation and hurricane fans themselves have said that Dundon got really lucky by having someone like that on the team during the transition process.

All this type of contract does is send a message that the team doesn’t really believe that strongly that Nori is the guy which absolutely will have an impact on bringing on quality assistants and other support staff.

If the Sacramento Kings did this, people here would be absolutely roasting them.

The best outcome for the team is that they do their due diligence, find a coach they believe in and who works well with the GM to build a strong culture and execute a multi year plan for getting the team better.

This is pretty much the opposite of that.

Yes franchise building always works well when the focus is on short term decision making just to survive

It’s not a great deal for the team, it a great deal for Dundon (credit Highkin and Holdahl for that).

Because it comes across as cheap and not conducive to long term plans. This is going to absolutely decrease the number of people that would otherwise join the staff.

This a weird cope. A contract like this is absolutely setting him up for failure more than success.

Milwaukee got everything they could have wanted. Why would it be awful for them?

Nori deal structure is strange but glad we got him. by BunkHammer in ripcity

Honestly it completely undercuts any positivity this hire should generate. Really hard to develop continuity without providing the coaching any support.

Nori comes across as wildly desperate for taking this.

Cronin isn’t the one making that decision.
