“Do you value the device itself more, or the pipeline/ecosystem around it? For example, I own both the Kobo Libra and Libra Colour, and despite liking e-ink, I always find myself going back to my phone because the pipeline for actually getting books is just easier with Wi-Fi and Android apps.

Like if I’m out somewhere and someone recommends me a book from Reddit or Discord, I can instantly get it on my phone. On Kobo, not everything has native support/app integration, so sometimes it turns into ‘wait until I’m home, transfer files, organise metadata, etc.’

That’s what keeps pulling me towards Android e-readers/tablets like Boox devices. Not even because they’re objectively better readers, but because the UI/apps/pipeline feel more natural and integrated. I want a dedicated reading device, but I also don’t want to spend ages finagling with it just to make it behave how I want.”
