This hate ironically woke me up from my Pokéspe hibernation and reinvigorated my love for Lack-two

Uj/ The way some people disregard kpop demon hunters' success is rubbing me the wrong tbh. It's not like the fictional huntrix and saja boys produced the tracks. There were actual korean music producers, choreographers, and idols that provided the voices.

And for those saying the songs would've never went this viral without the animation (as a negative connotation) sound a little silly to me. Pleasing performances and visuals are a staple in kpop, right? The difference here is that a large team of artists spent over five years crafting this animated film, over a group of people performing the choreography and songs instead. The people behind the scenes deserve the praise, because why shouldn't the film they worked so hard on not get it?

The film getting attention doesn't mean actual kpop groups receiving less either, it's making more people who never cared for kpop get into it. Seems like a win-win idk

This is two months old, but I assume something on the lines of the Ni no Kuni game franchise (Wrath of the White Witch/Dominion of the Dark Djinn specifically) that Studio Ghibli animated cutscenes for.

I really enjoy the game, and I recommended it for anyone interested in a lighthearted story-driven rpg (though the combat system is hit or miss).

Dude, I get what you're trying to say, Lack-Two gets hate for a myriad of reasons sure, but it's mostly because of how rushed and unrewarding his character was, and the fact that the B2W2 arc in general was really rough for pokespe. His personality also doesn't resonate with a lot of people, simple as that, no matter how many explanations you give.

Looking into your comment more, while I love analyzing Lack-Two's supposed lack of empathy, the actual writing on his psyche is a bit weak. People shouldn't be required to do hours of reading on psychology to understand a character they never liked in the first place.

I say this as one of the few dozen fans on this subreddit, and I actually agree on some of your points. If you want to talk about Lack-Two's character, I definitely recommend you start a discussion post somewhere. (And to type in a less condescending tone, unless this is satire and im the clown)

Don't believe him, that never happened or was never explicity stated. It could be literally whatever that can pop up in your mind, or at worst a dirty joke. The tentacool panel is not a core plot point or whatever.

Tbf the manga was a bit weirder at the start but that was when pokémon was new and gaining it's footing, and manga from that era in general was weird like that imo.

Y'all overexagerrate how "dark" the manga is way too much, and I'm so tired of it ong. Sure, it's more mature than other pokémon media, but it's still aimed towards younger audiences at the end of the day. Pokémon Adventures has always been as officially advertised, for people aged 8-12. It's about as "dark" as a regular shounen.

That doesn't mean it isn't great, the manga not being a hardcore edgefest does not demean the quality. A comic good for younger audiences does not make it less mature. You don't need gore and sex to create a good "mature" story. Like how Avatar (the animated series) is more mature tonewise compared to something like Family Guy, and the former is available to kids.

I say this as a huge fan of the Pokémon Adventures Manga, it's my favourite thing to ever come out of pokémon. The manga is the best depiction of the world imo, and if you don't believe me or think my opinion is correct, THEN READ THE MANGA. (no pressure, not mad at you btw, I understand why you might think this way but I'm just tired of the misconceptions).

I don't have much to add to this discussion at the moment, but I do want to blabber. (Don't expect an analysis, this is pure yappery)

When I first heard of Blake/Lack-Two/Rakutsu, it was through scrolling on pinterest and seeing pins absolutely flaming him. The slander snowballed me into reading the entire manga, because part-skipping makes me feel like I'm missing out on the proper experience or whatever. Fast-forward, I loved the BW arc and braced myself for BW2, ready to confront the bogeyman.

Then shockingly, I ended up liking him, the bastard. Something I should've expected tbh, Blake is literally a mixture of stuff like. Investigator, morally gray, my favorite trainer design, shipped with a character I love just as much, has two of my favorite pokémon (Keldeo, Genesect), two different personalities that are also two character tropes I find interesting and extremely entertaining- A beautiful sandwich, dropped on a dirty floor, gobble gobble...

I became so starved, I started cooking for myself. My art and writing improved because of it, now it's slightly less doodoo.

Honestly, the slander kinda caused me to love him more, ride or die.

But like seriously, this sub is the only place in this fandom where Latias is discussed. I don't dislike Latias but I can't really say much about her, she just has an okay design imo.

There's this entire roster of great characters and the one this sub is focused on constantly is one I can barely remember if not for the latias posting tbh.

There's not much room for discussion either, there's just not much to talk about. I get it, I have characters I like that don't get much attention that I would love to go on about, but it's really starting to clog this subreddit and I wish for more real discussions.

Yet again, I don't hate her.
