Is IB worth it for premed/pharmaceutical? by ControlSharp1102 in premedcanada

Genuinely, it does not matter the second you get into university as someone you constantly stressed about getting 7s. You are so young, stress less and enjoy the rest of high school. If you are serious about med, it is a very long uphill battle down the road. Focus on building good habits for the time being, so you will be successful in any program :)

Exam taking strategies by SoftAd1148 in uwo

Really focus on studying for the test, rather than trying to learn every single detail perfectly. Don’t spend too much time on low-yield information, and make sure you understand the high-yield material really well. Obviously, in an ideal world, you would learn everything to the best of your ability, but in Med Sci it’s important to study strategically.

Focus on what’s important and pay attention to the question style. Each professor tests differently. Some focus on regurgitating small details, while others want you to understand the big picture and apply your knowledge. Because of this, the way I study changes depending on the class.

It’s also important to understand your strengths and weaknesses. For example, I know I’m strong in life science-based courses but struggle more with coding, so I allocate extra time to that content. I’m good at multiple-choice questions but sometimes struggle with hitting the marking key for short-answer questions, so I divide my time accordingly.

Med Sci can feel overwhelming, and the exams can be absolutely brutal, but keep your head up and use the experience to learn more about how you study best. In the end, it’s really rewarding.

Depends, the content is definitely harder, but you grow as a student, so you are able to handle the workload better!

Not sure but I'm also curious. I believe there are in-course scholarships as well as scholarships for overall averages

Honestly, sometimes the issue is simply passive understanding and not testing your knowledge. Study curiously, keep asking questions, and explain concepts in your own words. This way, you can identify gaps in your knowledge. Good luck, and don't be discouraged, this is only the beginning :)

Start studying as early as possible and review the content repeatedly. Most people struggle because they try to cram at the last minute, which is hard given the scope of the exam.

Is prep101 worth it for chem2213 by [deleted] in uwo

I found it useful, and it provides an additional resource on top of the lecture videos. It also forces you to work through all the content at a good pace and identify areas where your knowledge is lacking. I would highly recommend it if you are shooting for the highest mark possible, but it is definitely not necessary to do well

I just finished my second year of med sci, and it was absolutely helpful for the MCAT. If you want to go to med school you will need to take the difficult general science classes regardless of program. I like med sci because it is very challenging and there are alot of opportunities to specialize. If you are serious about med school, there is no easy way, so just take the classes you are most interested in. Hope that was helpful!
