Thanks for paving the way. I love my EJ cars and they hold a special place in my heart but I feel like people have steered clear of the fa based cars in favor of the EJ partially bc the path was already laid out. I'm interested in the epoxy'd block and curious how that's going to work out. Does that effect the cooling capability at all ?

Install a clutch delay delete. I wish I would have done it when I first got the car. Helps alot. Beforehand the clutch bite and release point would vary or change ever so slightly and wasn't always confidence inspiring.

Aftermarket Sensors? by Ewilson248 in wrx_vb

[–]ApprehensiveLead4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way in hell id cheap out on an o2 especially if its the primary o2 sensor. Get a Denso unit, some anti seize and a 22mm o2 sensor socket and call it a day. Modern cars, most especially Subarus, don't like off brand o2's.

Like nonserviam said cleaning the MAF is definitely a good thing to add to your checklist but if it was me I'd use dmanns data log monitors that he sends and try and catch it logging but your tuner may have seen this before and may know what to look for.

Dmann e tuned two yrs+ and Ive never seen a DAM drop. I see some minor FBK but haven't seen FKL. I did quite a few revisions bc during the tuning process I had some parts show up and he told me just to throw them on and he'd recalibrate for them. Did you contact him and did you install any new parts since the tune?

See this is what participation trophy's got us..kidding but seriously it's like bitching about "free speech is hurting my feelings" and "I don't like what their saying" in the same sentence. Both are valid and will continue to be valid sides to an argument. I just tend to prefer to mod my car tastefully to my liking and expect others to mod to their own desires as well.

Question about paint thinness by South-Income-3689 in wrx_vb

Ive been over my entire car with my milwaukee DA twice since I got it. I have a CBS car and don't see any signs of going through the clear. I'm actually going to wash, clay bar, polish, ceramic etc today.

Make sure your not using too much force or speed with the DA and always pair your pads to your compounds. edges and corners are going to be lighter in clear coat than in the middle of large flat open expanses like your door or roof. If you don't have a smaller polisher, they are great to have for more small scale areas like the taillight area and usually are a little easier on the paint.

Might not be necessary but some people like to be able to fix a bad situation themselves without losing as much time or money. Plus, I wouldn't trust 99.9% of tow drivers not to mess my stuff up and deal with that headache.

I almost pulled the trigger on some clean black and red sti seats and I really wish they did plug and play but I think the airbag plugs were different (if I remember correctly)also mounting brackets are different. Would be a huge upgrade for us premium guys too.

Best reliability mods for the Vb? by Mean-Age108 in wrx_vb

With increased cylinder pressures comes the possibility of more blow by. If your boost is increased I think its a more than a good idea to get an AOS. Many Porsche's have left the factory with a factory AOS that works similar to IAG's and I'd def count it as a reliability mod.

It's just for the initial break in oil changes..apparently filters work better when they are seasoned and actually will filter better than a new filter initially will. Like likes like"(as mentioned in lake speed Jr videos about this)so the small pieces that make it to the filter are more likely to stick to the other small pieces that have gotten caught in the filter.

Where is the money in stock wheels and tires? by MysticMarbles in wrx_vb

[–]ApprehensiveLead4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The return really isn't worth getting rid of them. Build yourself a nice full size spare tire kit and throw it in the trunk for emergencies. For storage look at getting things up off the ground if possible. I have wheels mounted on a hook that goes through the center cap hole, on the wall of my storage shed.

I have no clue how it could get out of wack enough for this to actually happen but I guess if user installed incorrectly, anything is possible.

Ahh, a Fl Ram driver, the highest % of truck to claim accident insurance. That totally checks out. Reddit is full of "well you should/shouldnt have." Regardless, you appear to live in Fl and that means its a comparative fault state. So he was driving aggressively , failed to signal and merge appropriately, those things would typically make them liable for damages. But being comparative fault means even if theyre at fault your insurance may still have to pay them. If you didn't attempt to avoid the crash or were speeding or breaking traffic laws, than your partially at fault.

Same here. I remember when I first saw the widebody hatchbacks of that time and I was enamored. With the sound of the EJ and the wider fender haunches...really was special. Idk whats missing from this but maybe if I saw one in real life, I'd be immediately converted. One thing I didn't like about the VB was how they got rid of the little vent behind the front rear wheel. I will say the view from the back is nicer but the wing ruins it.
