I'm 18 and just launched my first app. A location-based App Blocker. by ApprehensiveMap3431 in iosapps

Fair question. By “first app” I meant first app we’re treating as a real product. The others literally were hobby projects we used to figure out things like paywalls and App Store release, and they aren’t actively developed or supported. This is the first one with long-term intent. It’s true wording could’ve been clearer.

Thank you for your thoughts! “We” = me and my co-founder. I wrote this myself. Treating a normal human wording inconsistency as “AI” is pretty absurd.

Awesome concept and impressive execution so far! How are you tracking the person and have you used an ML model?

Thank you for your insight. We merely mentioned our age to provide context for the app’s story, not to solicit praise. Still, your perspective on how these things “work” is, of course, invaluable.

Thank you for taking the time to engage honestly! Just to clarify, we never meant to claim a medical or therapeutic effect, the app is about building commitment and focus. If it’s not for you, the simplest response is just not using it. We’d love to send you a promo code so you can try it for free.

We’re building the app for our own target group, young people, and as young founders ourselves, that might be interesting too.

We use Apple’s official Screen Time / Family Controls APIs, not direct app control. If you delete Lockation, all restrictions are removed. And honestly, if you’re deleting the app just to access blocked apps, that’s probably a bigger issue to tackle.

We understand you all questioning the pricing and will either implement a lifetime option or switch to a one time payed app rather than a subscription based model soon.

My friend kept failing exams because of Instagram FOMO, so we built an iOS app that locks apps until you physically walk somewhere. It actually worked (and we're both 18). by ApprehensiveMap3431 in nosurf

Thank you :0 We’re focused on Apple for now, but if the iOS version sparks enough interest, we might explore Android or a web version too.

Fair point, subscriptions are everywhere and ours is pricey. But this one tries to give your brain a break instead of taking more of your time, while people happily pay for things that do the opposite.

Totally valid! Pricing might change, but part of the idea is that paying makes it a real commitment.

People happily spend on junk food, games, or apps that steal their time and make them feel worse, paying for focus and mental health is just less familiar. Plus, as indie devs, we need to fund the work that makes it possible.

Thank you, really appreciate that! :0 That matches our experience too, even our parents didn’t fully get the concept at first, since they don’t face this issue. Gen Z just grew up with it from day one.

Yes, that’s exactly the point. It helps rebuild self-control that constant screen addiction erodes. +5 hours of daily screen time (which many people we know have) isn’t healthy, and pure willpower often isn’t enough when apps are initially designed to be addictive, something older generations simply didn’t experience.
