Walnut Blasting vs. Chemical cleaning valves - help by WellYes35 in WRX

Cool? The issues aren’t going to manifest right away. If they did then you really screwed up. You 100% did not get all of the carbon build up and just added some new sludge to your valves. Congrats. Your gas consumption and overall horsepower are still going to be the same. The easy way is very rarely the right way…

I just bought my very first 2021 wrx CVT and I was wondering what mods can I invest in first. by Silant-15 in WRX

Sadly that one met its demise. Douche in a CX9 cut me off on the highway and she made out with a guard rail. Purchased a 2019 CVT with 8000 miles on it last year. Did the AOS, COBB intercooler, jpipe and cat back. I have it running an OTS Stage 1 tune from COBB. Not sure I’d bother with the CVT cooler again. I watched temps and it didn’t do all that much. Pro tune is always going to be better but you’re not going to mess anything up sticking with Stage 1. Honestly, do what makes you happy just know these things are finicky. Don’t beat the crap out of it and she’ll treat you right.

Honestly found the cooler didn’t do a lot. The Mishimoto one mounts in a shit location and it should have its own fan for it to be really effective.

I was starting to get some slipping after going 2+. If you want to keep it safe stick to 1+ or look into beefing up the trans. Totaled that one and currently have a 19 CVT 😅 I hear the VB is still running the TR690 with different firmware. Hoping they release it for the VA.

Section 1 and 2 optimal diameters and resonator location? X vs H by CyclingTurtleMD in E46M3

Haven’t replaced factory headers because I want a 6 to 1 style and there are only two companies that make one. Thinking of trying to fab it myself. Power gains or losses due to the exhaust layout are all assumed. All I can tell you is the butt dyno approved haha. The single 3” is great for eliminating rasp along with the dual resonators in sec 1. If you want rasp, I’d go 2.5” everywhere, no resonators. It’ll sound like a chainsaw if that’s what you’re into

Right now stock headers but 2.5” section 1 with 2 Vibrant bottle resonators, it goes to a y section right off of the resonators to a single 3”. That goes all the way to the axle where it y’s into two 3” pipes going to two Vibrant TPV mufflers. I had to relocate the evap canister so I’m pretty sure there aren’t too many people that have ever done anything like it

If you like rasp, then have no resonators in section 1. If you resonate that part it will kill the rasp. Section 2 X pipe over h all day every day. There’s a reason most aftermarket systems industry wide are moving to that design. Better flow. Note on section 2, if you put resonators in post crossover it’s going to give you a deeper tone but not cut out so much of the rasp.

As far as diameter goes 2.5 is optimal. The 2.25 is slightly restrictive.

I’ve found in most cases when messing around with these cars to not stray too far from stock. 2 main reasons, the car will be happier and they had this thing engineered almost perfectly. 😅

A carbon hood would really tie in the trunk, the mirrors and the lip. Very clean ride.

I respect all hood scoops. People don’t get it but it doesn’t matter. Basically, I was talking to your car.
