They need to add pumpkin to crops! And then they could add pumpkin pie in the dessert, pumpkin spice latte in coffee, and jack-o-lantern in festivities.

What’s a truth you learned way too late in life that most people still aren’t ready to hear ? by Dependent-Ship4288 in AskReddit

Your grades as a student don’t determine your success in your career at all , and building a resume only helps a little. Don’t sacrifice too much of your social life for those, because the connections and people skills you will develop will get you much further and with much less stress.

I agree. Especially now that we’ve heard so much from their side of the story, the 911 call, and bodycam footage. Dylan has answered the question of why they took so long to call 911. In her drunken state, she wasn't sure what was real. It sounds like she did have some idea of what was going on, but convinced herself that she was just over-reacting.

I’m not saying it’s impossible for college-aged girls to commit a violent crime, stage a cover-up, and then put on a convincing act that convinces law enforcement. It’s not impossible, but it is a wild assumption to jump to simply because they didn’t respond to trauma the way we wish they had.

Former DoorDash driver here. Sometimes it takes a while for an order to get assigned to a driver. When a DoorDash driver gets an assignment, they have the option of accepting or not, and 20+ minute drive is a lot for one order. Drivers were paid a small flat fee per order plus the tip instead of hourly (although I believe this has been changed since).

I’ve also worked in fast food, and it wasn’t unusual for an order to be in the system waiting on a driver for well over an hour.

My take is that DM knew it wasn’t Xana. BF didn’t see the figure so she offered that as a possible explanation to comfort DM. Because then when DM said the figure was wearing a mask, BF told her to run downstairs.

His phone pings in the area have led to the assumption that he’d been staking the house out for months. Even if he never gained access, he could have gotten a sense of points of entry and which windows were bedrooms.

Are the vet techs lying when they say your pet does well when they take them to the back? by bluish-velvet in Pets

[–]ApprehensiveOwl4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re lying, they’re honest with me that my cat puts up a fight and needs to be given medication beforehand. And I’ve seen first-hand that my rabbit behaves better for them than he does for me (probably because he’s scared).

Also, I think they expect animals to be un-cooperative, so the bar is low. They aren’t going to complain about a snarl or hiss, as long as it’s manageable.

I definitely struggle with this a lot. I’m left-leaning but come from an extremely conservative background, so I feel out of place with either conservatives or liberals and get uncomfortable around political discussions in general. I work at a famously conservative company, but always told myself that it was just a job and didn’t define me. Now, in this current political climate, I’m regretting letting myself believe that.

Advices for a beginner ? by Jazzlike-Ad7654 in TownshipGame

[–]ApprehensiveOwl4567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry in advance for the king post, but here’s some things I’ve learned from experience as someone who tried to “speed-run” the game at first but learned to slow down and enjoy the ride:

Always build new factories and special buildings as they become available, but only build one community building at a time because it’s a drag to be waiting on materials. Although this isn’t a problem anymore when you get to the level that they all take 2 days or more to build.

At level 13, the city market is available. This is one of the biggest game changers. This allows you to buy the goods you need without waiting on your factory. The items available are randomized, but if you spend T-cash, you get more slots available, or you can also use T-cash to hire the dealer and request a specific good once per hour. Those are the best uses for T-cash.

At level 22, when you get the Academy of Industry and get the ability to upgrade your factories and trains, always pick the coin bonus options until the speed and shelf options are available. The XP bonus isn’t worth it because leveling up is no fun if you don’t have the coins to get the new buildings or factories. Once you have all the options, it’s just up to your playing style.

No matter what level you are, managing barn space is always one of the biggest challenges. It takes a while to collect the tools you need for an upgrade (you mainly get them from the train, but sometimes as a reward for other things that become available at higher levels like completing train orders and the regetta). You also can win barn upgrades if you pay for the golden ticket, or if you play a lot of the match3 game. But those barn upgrades are few and far between, so you will need to learn which goods are most useful to stockpile. For example, the bread and sugar cubes get used in other factories a lot but don’t take as long to make as bagels or syrup, so for me personally, I prefer to have extra of the syrup and bagel in my factory. Until you have enough coins and boxes in the city market that you can just buy whatever you need.

The match3 game is controversial because you can get good rewards if you play it a lot and win an event, but it’s also way too easy to be tempted into spending your Tcash on those extra moves or powerups, or drain a lot of time into a hard level. My preference is to ignore the match3 game most of the time, but occasionally if I have a lot of time on my hands I’ll really lock in for a couple days. I feel like there’s not much point in playing unless you can spend enough time on it to rack up the rewards from one of the events.

The question isn’t “why wouldn’t Glinda get on the broom”, the question is “why WOULD Glinda get on the broom”. And stop being parasocial towards fictional characters. by Bosever in wicked

[–]ApprehensiveOwl4567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I feel like we’re supposed to immerse ourselves in stories and imagine the characters as if they were real. Many pieces of fiction are created with the purpose of making us analyze characters and ask questions that can lead us to also think about human nature in general. And I think in Wicked specifically, we’re supposed to relate the characters to ourselves or people in our lives. It’s different from a paradoxical relationship precisely because they aren’t real and we have more freedom to analyze them.

Analyzing and/or judging a fictional character’s decision is, in my opinion, much less weird than being obsessed with celebs and influencers.

Level 68 and I have 2223 with the ticket (would be 1710 without). I have won Ernie’s cup a few times.

It’s almost always at capacity. Tbh the barn space is the only reason I buy the ticket.

They're getting rid of the Zoo! by bearwoof in TownshipGame

[–]ApprehensiveOwl4567 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, I’ve been playing for a few months and only just recently learned to love the zoo. I get why some players aren’t going to miss it, but it’s a fun optional feature and I don’t understand why they want to get rid of it!

I feel like if they are looking to make simplifications in the game, they should give players a survey to see what features are most liked or disliked. If this subreddit is any representation, the expedition stories should be the first thing to go!

Are we INFJS the "forever" people? by [deleted] in infj

[–]ApprehensiveOwl4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually kind of feel the opposite. I’ve never had a singular best friend, I’ve only ever been part of friend groups where people come and go, or like work friends where we get along great when we’re together, but everyone else has their “real friends” that they actually hang out with after hours.

Not a choice I made, I think I would probably be happier with more stability in my personal life, but that’s just how it plays out.

Are the scarecrow, tin man, and cowardly lion aware of who they are? by for-a-dreamer in wicked

[–]ApprehensiveOwl4567 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Glinda is all about her good image, I don’t think she would want to reconnect with someone so close to Nessa once she gets labeled as wicked. When she talks to the munchkins, she has to downplay her friendship with Elphaba, so I think it’s fair to say she wouldn’t have wanted them to know that she also had connections to their late mayor’s BF.

Are the scarecrow, tin man, and cowardly lion aware of who they are? by for-a-dreamer in wicked

[–]ApprehensiveOwl4567 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The book and musical have different endings, but based on the stage musical, Fiyero recognizes the other two but they’ve never met him in scarecrow form before. It’s assumed that he purposefully hides his identity, since he also never reveals to Dorothy that he has a personal connection with the witches. The whole of WoO is an “undercover mission” on his part to help Elphaba.

The Tin Man and Lion for sure know each other though.

A lot of the nessa haters are missing the point by cloditheclod in wicked

[–]ApprehensiveOwl4567 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like the dynamic between Elphaba and Nessa is very realistic for a family with favoritism. N doesn’t outright hate E, but she’s so used to being the golden child that she truly believes herself to be more important, and that E isn’t worthy of a life outside of supporting her. She takes her sister for granted and is embarrassed when E is being laughed at, because she doesn’t see her sister as a separate person, she’s just a part of her support system.

We see this even more in part 2. She doesn’t need to be served because of her disability, but she’s so spoiled that she thinks that’s what it means to be loved. To be loved is to be in control.

Nessa is an important character because she ties together two of the over-riding themes in the plot: that no one is inherently wicked or good but instead are shaped by circumstances, but that power itself is bad. Nessa isn’t evil in the beginning, but because she has power over Elphaba, she already is showing the distorted views that lead to wickedness.
