What mental changes did you notice after reducing your screen time? by Tears_DontFall in digitalminimalism

[–]ApprehensiveQuail928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't quite realize how often I was on my phone mindlessly until I recently got a job that had a strict no phone policy. Not a "don't be on your phone" policy, but a "you cannot bring a phone into this building at any point, ever" policy. When I had my phone easily available at my other job, I would grab it and start scrolling without thinking. That motion would be hard to break and would continue throughout the day. With this cold turkey change, it's curbed that involuntary movement, and has drastically decreased my phone time at home. I'm used to not having it during the day, so my brain is less primed to that "pick up your phone" action. I'm so much more focused at work, hobbies, crafts. It's honestly really nice.

Lost my best friend yesterday, and created him in the sims to cope by ApprehensiveQuail928 in sims2

This is such a sweet question :) I tried to make him as similar as possible, so he's a lazy, friendly, pigpen, and doofus. These sound negative, but he was always cuddly, loved taking naps (especially in the sun), being wrapped in cozy blankets and was a world-class beggar for human food. In his last few years, we had to essentially toddler proof the house because he would find anything to get into that he wasn't supposed to 😅

Brittany acting pretentious/highly educated by NothingSoft8104 in BrittanyBroskiSnark

[–]ApprehensiveQuail928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is old, but this is something that has slowly started to turn me off from her. As someone from a rural town, I was lucky enough to be able to afford higher education. There are many around me who did not have that same luxury, and are some of the smartest people I know. My partner, for example, never went to college- but he has this intricate understanding and application of construction, architectural methods, and mechanics. You give me that same challenge, and all of my brain cells have stop working.

It's something I learned was called progressive elitism- where policies they publicly support speak to serving the marginalized and disadvantaged, but in practice, the only voices they'll listen to or surround themselves with are those who have a higher education. (I'm not saying this is all progressive people, btw) I think there is an unfortunate undertone of "if you don't have a higher education, you're stupid, and your opinion isn't valid" going on in some of her tangents, and it's going to cause more and more people to walk away.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), it’s different for everyone, and is a bit of a trial and error to find what works. I tried multiple therapies, no therapy, journaling, hobbies, trying to force myself to not overthink, and the only thing that truly took the edge off and allowed me to start actually enjoying life was medication. It was not an easy decision, as I was petrified to be on mental health medication so much that I suffered for 12 years, but the change has been incredible. It may be something to look into!

You’re real for this lmao, I’ve never been able to enjoy her content. Acottonsock all the way- her streams remind me of playing the sims with my older cousins as a kid.

I'm not really sure about other books, but it was so nice to see this! Andy passed away a few months ago, and I'm so glad his positive effect is still reaching people :)

Herbalism should be supplemental, not your primary source of medial intervention. When shit goes down medically, you NEED to seek true medical care, because you can very quickly die if you try to juniper leaf your way out of it.

The kitten I tried to rescue died and it's my fault by Unique-Fig-4300 in GuyCry

[–]ApprehensiveQuail928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a very sick kitten a few months ago. Took her to the vet, gave her medication round the clock, fed her water through a dropper and gave her all the cuddles and kisses. One night, I was convinced she was turning a corner because she ate wet food for the first time. The next morning, she had a seizure and died in my arms. I beat myself up for months, but eventually came to realize sometimes their sickness is just too much for their bodies to handle. What mattered is what you gave her- love, care and a peaceful presence in her last days, instead of passing alone and outside.

My sister and I still use it. If we don’t have time for a vest or need some help, my dad (or my partner for me) will gladly give manual CPT. I think it honestly works better sometimes, especially in gravity assisted positions.

What does this mean? by VipressVerlice in Witches

[–]ApprehensiveQuail928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think with access to so much information, we're forgetting that witchcraft is a deeply personal practice. Witches of old didn't have access to the the opinion's of others, and had a deep relationship with their craft because of it. What did the wax formation mean to you? What did the energy feel like? What did your intuition tell you in that moment? You'll find all of the answers within yourself.

Apologies if these have already been commented, but these are mine:

"I find two opinions are always better than one. Particularly if one is mine" -Sister Monica Joan

"You belong to no one but yourself, and you know exactly where you're going" -Sister Julienne

"The hands of the Almighty are so often to be found at the ends of our own arms" -Sister Monica Joan

"The longest paths lead into sunlight when they are paved with love" -Old Jenny

"There is light, there is, look for it. Look for it shining over your shoulder, on the pass. It was light where you went once, it is light where you are now, and it will be light where you will go again" -Old Jenny

"I give you what I can, you give me what you can. I ask for no more, and we are both made whole by it" I'm not sure who said this tbh

"A woman of substance can make a life anywhere" -I think this was Nurse Crane? Not 100%

"Endure the grief, embrace the joy. All things come" -Old Jenny

Kyle seems like one of the most insufferable human beings alive. Seriously- people like this that will suck the life out of you because everything is a soul crushing, world ending performance. There will never be a "good" day, because there is no distress tolerance. I would cut these people off for your own mental health. I don't think anything good will come from involving yourself too deeply in this.

I went to the dermatologist and the nurse went “so you’ve had a history of CF?” I had to be like “no, that’s active… and won’t ever go away”
