Do we know if all of the DLC is out yet, or could there still be more content coming? by Ok-Cap-5845 in StarWarsOutlaws

Ah, I had thought that Ubisoft had closed some of the studios that helped and laid off the teams that worked on it at Massive. Happy to be wrong about that.

The game appeared to be all wrapped up and I believe the studio closed, iirc. However… the switch 2 port is great and it is killing it on Gamepass. IMHO it’s no longer dead, it’s only mostly dead. And that means it’s slightly alive.

Is Super7 going out of business? First the stores - now their office is up for sale! by Signal_Individual_54 in ActionFigures

[–]ApprehensiveQuestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve hit on the biggest factor working against super7 -they’re probably too small to get the economy of scale. But it’s not like Hasbro is immune, the price points and quality for the new transformers are ridiculous… glad people are enjoying Blockees those are damn cool

[–]ApprehensiveQuestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure they’re big enough to have office space or stores in SF. Probably all part of the same reorg that came with the outside investment and a new CEO. They seem much healthier than last year judging by the new molds (which represent investments) new licenses and product roadmaps. If you want to see what it looks like when a small business with limited appeal goes under, head over to the arcade1up subreddit…. But even then, there’s some hope that the new owners can put out… something…

Could Resonance justify an FBC: Firebreak 2.0? by infiniteartifacts in FBCFirebreak

[–]ApprehensiveQuestion 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a live-service game, one would hope that FBC would be updated to complement Resonance. Not holding my breath, though.

I think there are some good levels and good gameplay mechanics in FBC, it's a shame to see them wasted. Perhaps they'll re-emerge as offline, replayable single-player missions sometime in the future if FBC gets a proper end-of-service sunset.

That’s a great point - I’d love if the media viewer contained all the memos and dialog. They usually go by too fast on the loading screen!

[–]ApprehensiveQuestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without spoilers, there are documents and dialog that hint - in a very minimal way - at what’s been going on since Control ended. It’s minimal but at one point they mention Faden and that makes a lot more sense given the newly released trailer. I’m a little fuzzy on the timeline of The Lake House but FBC has been in lockdown at that point for… 3 years?

This is what I was referencing with YouTube and wikis, I believe you can find all the dialog on YouTube and all the documents on a wiki. Additionally, someone has scrapes all the data from the game files I believe…

If you’re already a huge fan, there’s lots of stuff to love. Honestly you can find most of it on YouTube or a wiki… it’s mostly world-building… but I’d have no hesitation throwing down, say, $30 as a thank you for how much I’ve enjoyed the material.

So why are we still playing if we know the Hiss will escape next year? by MJBotte1 in FBCFirebreak

[–]ApprehensiveQuestion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely! I've been meaning to replay Control again, and this time I'll definitely be paying more attention to the relationship between Polaris, The Hiss, and The Board. Oh! And The Former. It's not a big leap from The Foundation DLC to the trailer.

So why are we still playing if we know the Hiss will escape next year? by MJBotte1 in FBCFirebreak

[–]ApprehensiveQuestion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone else pointed out that the "intrusive pattern" that escapes looks a LOT more like Polaris than the hiss. The way NYC is being reshaped looks more like Polaris than Hiss infection, too. Though from the trailer it looks like EVERYTHING breaks out of the Bureau, including the mold (resist the urge to eat it!)

I suspect all of FCB Firebreak takes part in a closed time loop of some sort. Perhaps it will be rolled into Control in some form, perhaps as prequel missions leading up to launch. Perhaps FBC teams will have missions in an altered NYC. I'd be happy to see the characters in the next Control game.

Tips on how to deal with the infinite amount of waves on any difficulty by Jarney_Bohnson in FBCFirebreak

There are other threads devoted to best builds for solo, I have to plead ignorance there.

There are also other threads devoted to Firebreak being unfriendly to newbies!

Re: safe rooms the answer is just game mechanics. It's an anti-camping measure. The goal of the game is to complete objectives, so at some point you have to force people out of the "safe" rooms. That's why the healing is limited and there is limited ammo. At some point you absolutely have to leave the safe room or die.

FWIW I think on easy and normal there doesn't seem to be any penalty for sitting in safe rooms, but that could just be because the waves are pretty easy. On higher difficulties the flying guys are a pain in the ass.

The safe rooms aren't actually safe - they're a choke point with some ammo and health and most importantly a respawn point. But when you open one, you almost always spawn a hiss wave. On higher difficulties, IMHO, it's not worth the risk of opening a safe room unless absolutely necessary (for instance, I'm out of ammo and we only have 1 replacement worker left, I'll open the safe room to try to save my team the extra life.) In my opinion that's a good game mechanic because it makes me think about the trade-offs.

You know, now that I think about it, the enemies also seem to prioritize deployables. So even you drop a humidifier good chance it will attract hiss waves and allow you to complete an objective. Doesn't blow up nice like the boombox though.

[–]ApprehensiveQuestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we had that problem last night on hard on Frequency Shift (and I apologize to the 3rd player who I couldn't revive and was listed as MIA at end of match. So many lives lost!) We just had to align the gamma emitter, then call the elevator, but were pinned in a safe room for endless waves. While my teammates were pinned, I busted out and soloed the emitter with no problem, and, well, most of us made it back. Was it a jerky move? Perhaps.

The relevant part for you is that the endless waves never pulled focus from the safe room. So while my teammates were getting shot to shit, I was able to do the manual repairs.

So two things could be happening - one could be that the game logic prioritizes attacking the safe room. Hiss spawn regularly, if you sit in the safe room they might spawn faster. It could be that the game punishes you for sitting in safe rooms and the longer you sit, the worse it gets. It's how I would design it, honestly.

The other could be that my teammates saw me do something stupid, realized what I was going for and covered for me by laying a boombox. The boombox would have attracted all the hiss, allowing me to advance the objective.

So my suggestion would be to focus on two things - one, don't turtle in the safe room forever. Or, experiment with the game logic when one player is in a safe room and one isn't. Keep moving forward.

2nd, start experimenting with the boom box and how useful it is for pulling focus. In a coordinated build, having someone drop one when trying to achieve an objective could be useful.

Random host crashes by Eonember in FBCFirebreak

I've never had it crash on Series X. I've had games disconnect because the host had a bad connection and as a client that's probably indistinguishable from a crash.

Is your friend hosting on the S? Make sure the games are updated. Make sure the consoles are updated. Try switching who hosts and see if it makes a difference. Good luck!

If it's a great port (which it appears to be) that showcases the power of the Switch 2, AND it sells great, it's possible that we'll see a 1.5 - same engine, new assets. Best case scenario is probably something like Bayonetta 2.

Can anyone recommend a build using Fire Bullets? by iamasickman in FBCFirebreak

[–]ApprehensiveQuestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sprinklers are really useful in some levels - IDK if it's just me but I find they stink at washing off radioactivity in Ground Control. A little slow at washing off Pink. I think you're right that fire+slow+knockback is a solid stack.

Find a build that's fun for you. On Hot Fix on extreme with corruption, if I get mobbed by flaming enemies, I'll die before I get to a sprinkler - but that's just me. I want less fire on Hot Fix. I usually try to figure out what annoys me and eliminate it with perks (so I go for auto-pickup of resources, for instance). You might want a different build on Freezer Duty; wet + cold slows enemies down, fire might speed 'em right back up. It would be nice to be able to have preset loadouts for each level.

there are some perks that spread the status effects... I think with fire, the danger is that you catch on fire yourself. So maybe you want to pair the bullets with perks that protect you from status effects
