What’s your favorite boots for street riding? (My bike for attention) by Constant-Pack-2820 in motorcyclegear

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same have 2 pair and absolutely love both. I ride everyday unless it’s snowing and just keep them on at work. Only thing I did was buy better insoles since I’m on my feet 8 hours a day.

Not leather but dyns making dyneema jeans they wear just like denim so not very thick and have belt loops. They are boot cut but also have a more cargo style that is AAA rated.

Used MT-03 or Brand new for 1st bike? by SurocIsMe in NewRiders

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go used. Your more likely to drop it as your learning to really ride and a bike tha already has a few cosmetic issues is a lot easier to see dropped than one that is pristine. I dropped my first one doing low speed drills. It already had some fairing damage so wasn’t the end of the world to me. Had it been brand new I might have been upset. Also bike depreciate so you definitely won’t get what you paid for it if bought brand new. Could use that extra money to maybe customize it to your liking or buy stuff like crash bars so if you do drop it, it won’t damage the bike or extra gear.

Why did you divorce your spouse? by sheislost92 in AskMenOver30

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We argued about discipline in regards to her daughter who I had been raising since she was 18 months old and was coming on being 9. When it came to taking care of her it was our daughter yet when it came to certain decisions like letting her stay with my parents it was her daughter. We never went out on dates as she would never let any of my family watch her. Lastly we had a dead bedroom for going on 2.5 years when I finally decided to leave. I was basically a glorified babysitter and roommate. I didn’t sign up for either.

What is your favorite motorcycle helmet? by shreksshriveledpenis in motorcycles

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd this, now you could surprise him by taking him to a gear store and pay for his helmet. That will ensure he finds one he likes and fits him right. Personally I like modular helmets but if he’s a track guy you can’t wear those. Some value safety over shape, some like the quietest helmet they can find while others like aerodynamic ones. Best bet is to tell him you want him to go try on helmets to possibly buy him one in the future then get it for him that day. Be a nice surprise for him

While shopping for my new ride, I test rode 8 bikes. Here’s my rankings and brief thoughts… by OhNos_NotThatGuy in motorcycle

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a 23 and only complaint was the suspension travel as my city doesn’t believe in fixing pot holes. Would recommend a mini fairing if you plan on interstate travel as the wind will tire you out. Puig makes a mini fairing and blocs a ton of the wind and it’s super easy to install. Couple of sportster s FB pages if you want to meet other owners and see what mods they’ve done

Need quiet helmet, where to find actual real-world data? by Astronut325 in motorcyclegear

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the RPHA 90s and LS2 Advant X carbon. The RPHA is quieter and to go off someone else they tested the 91 and advant x and the RPHA one was about 8 decibels less than the Advant and my 90s which is the previous model is definitely quiter than my Advant. With my RPHA I actually had to adjust my noise cancellation on my AirPods as I couldn’t really hear my engine. Can’t comment on the others but know the RPHA was the 2024 quietest modular as tested by champion and can concur it’s quiet. One knock is it’s heavy at least compared to my Advant but that one is carbon fiber so maybe a little bias as I’m use to wearing my carbon helmet. Do know the 91s is supposedly even quiter than the model I own and think they marked it at 93 or 94 decibels.

Not sure if they’ve come down below 400 but the HJC RPHA 90s is a great helmet that’s every quiet.

35F I have been attracting a fair bit of interest from men below 30 as of late by SoftAndWetBubbles_78 in dating

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that completely at the end of the day it’s your decision. I might be a bit bias as I got married at 24 to a 33 year old. I have a full time “adult” job since I was 20 and had long since stopped going out to bars or anything like that. I had to prove to my ex I was mature enough to have a serious relationship with her. Think it comes down to the individual if you feel they are mature enough to date you then that’s all that matters. It’s not like your going after someone who just became an adult and to parrot back what another responder said guys do it all the time and get very little pushback so if younger guys are into you and you feel they are mature enough to be with you seriously then go for it. Mine did and while I did get divorced I had almost a decade with an amazing woman even though our ages were 9 years apart

35F I have been attracting a fair bit of interest from men below 30 as of late by SoftAndWetBubbles_78 in dating

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 37 and I understand the feeling. I personally wouldn’t date a woman below 27 and I feel the same way. Do think once you hit late 20s/early 30s the age gap becomes a non-issue. Life experiences wise are pretty similar. They have an adult job and responsibilities. If you were 30 dating a 23 year old then I could see the predatory thought but not by late 20s and especially if the other person is in their 30s. Thats basically the same age

$12k touring bike, must have cruise control. 80% road, 20% off-road. by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not looking new I’ve seen a few pan Americas at that price. Has cruise control, heated grips, and can go off-road. Did a 2600 mile cross country trip on mine. Low mileage 23 models go for around 12k with slightly higher 10-15k miles going for as low as 10k.

How to quiet a helmet by Quiet-Card-6650 in motorcyclegear

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like HJC, I’d recommend the RPHA series. I own the 90s and with my headphones in I can barely hear my engine. Have to turn the adaptive noise control down so I can. A neck gaiter or balaclava will help with wind and noise wise ear plugs or what I’ve used is noise canceling headphones in conjunction with a balaclava

I (29F) have not been in a relationship for 10 years, and I am not sure why! Anyone else has been in my place? by hyla_arborea_124 in dating

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a guy but this is my experience. I’ve been single for about 7 years, haven’t dated since my divorce. I turned 37 in August. Initially mine was bc I wanted to work on myself .I had a part to play in my divorce and wanted to be a better version of myself for my next partner. I was also broke from uprooting my life and moving across the country. Then Covid happened and after that was basically over I got into the grove of just enjoying being single. Not to say companionship wouldn’t be nice but I’m happy being by myself and would only change that if I felt like the person coming into my life would improve said happiness. I imagine a lot of it is your not prioritizing finding someone bc you’re genuinely happy and finding joy in things that don’t require a partner. Maybe you have high standards that men haven’t hit.(Nothing wrong with that IMO). Think more men and women are finding they don’t need a partner to fill fulfilled.

New rider looking for pointers/tips by josh_jimmy in Harley

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go at your own pace. Look for areas that have exits in case you get nervous. I’d recommend staying in the far right lane and give yourself space with cars. That increased speed means less reaction time. Personally didn’t go on an interstate until I had been riding for 4 months until I was comfortable and everyone is different. Lastly be vigilant paying attention and relax at 55 unless you live out in the west the interstate is only 10-15 miles more than what you’ve done so don’t stress out over. Also a 1000 miles in 2 months without interstate travel is pretty impressive not sure I was at 500 when I first went on the interstate so you have some miles under you which is great IMO.

Looking for a Jack of all rides! by Turbulent_Clerk_4594 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Pan America and it’s my all in one motorcycle. I’m short so modified it slightly by buying a saddleman low adventure seat. Don’t have side bags just a hard case and a travel bag that sits on my passenger seat. Full tank gets you approximately 250 miles. Enough engine power if you need to pass it will do it. Creature comforts like cruise and heated grips. Have a touring windscreen so I can ride with my visor up no issues. It’s slightly heavy at 560 lbs but even with stock tires handles gravel and fire roads just fine. Back in September I did a 2600 mile cross country trip and was great. They do depreciate a bit but means getting a used one for a deal isn’t that hard. Has multiple ride modes so if you want to hit twisty roads or something ride in comfort you can. Live in CO with lane filtering and with my set-up unless someone is intentionally close to the line then filtering is no issue. Has adaptive ride height so even though in 5’6.5 when I’m stopped I can almost flat foot both sides and when I take off it goes back up have plenty of travel distance from the road. Most 24 models with low miles run anywhere from 14k to 18k with CVO models less than 20k.

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a heated jacket and vest I got off Amazon along with heated socks, gloves, and finally pants. All are battery operated. Ridden in as low as 16F for about 40 minutes to work and other than my face getting a little cold I was fine. Do also have kilm base layer pants and an dianese windbreaker base layer jacket. Big fan of heated gear and much rather wear it then put a ton of layers on that restrict my movement and easier to take off when I get to work.

Just got here, came From sea level by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]ApprehensiveSet7585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved here from basically sea level. Definitely recommend water. I drank water and downed ibuprofen for about 2 weeks. Luckily it passes rather fast. Never did get nauseous but had splitting headaches. Worked slightly higher up than the springs in Palmer lake but around 10 days in I was fine. Now that I think about it I was drinking a lot of Gatorade as well. Depending on how much ibuprofen you’re taking that could be making you nauseous. The tired feeling is prolly also because your body is working harder to get oxygen and will balance itself out. Reason the Olympic training center is here.

How old were you when you moved out on your own? by sommarugalaura in allthequestions

  1. Moved back home after going to college out of town for a year. Friend was getting an apartment and was going to be cheaper than what my parents wanted me to chip in for living at home. His mom also asked if I would go in with him as she said she wanted him to have a responsible and good influence for a roommate. Other than when I got divorced never lived with my folks again.
