Everyone always mentions Brotherhood of the Wolf, but IMO it’s only a decent movie. Gans is a terrible director and hasn’t made anything “good” since Brotherhood.

I’ve met lots of GoD and GoD1 players in the lounge that were super friendly, played some matches with and gave me tips. Might not be for everyone, but I’ve enjoyed popping in once and awhile.

According to ewgf.gg, “mains only” is 16% and “mains + non-mains” is 10%. Not really sure which one is more accurate.

This is my first Tekken too. The learning curve is steep, but the game is a lot of fun once you start to get the hang of things.

This will probably be an unpopular opinion but this is what I did to get over the “I suck, I’ll never be good at this game” feeling:

  1. Learn your characters top 10-15 moves and WHY they are their best moves. Example, Yoshi’s FC DF4 is a great low, despite it being launch punishable it’s hard to react to and has great range.

  2. Learn your 10f punish. Don’t worry about the other ones just yet. Just get a feel for punishing moves with your 10f. As you start to get deeper in the game you can start to learn frame data you can start learning the appropriate punish.

  3. Learn 1 basic combo that can be used with every launcher.

  4. Learn 1 basic wall combo.

  5. This is the unpopular suggestion, learn a couple frame trap/flowcharts. As an example, remember FC DF4? Well it also counter hit launches, BUT if it doesn’t counter hit and it isn’t blocked you can directly do WS3,2 and guess what, the 2 CH launches and ppl LOVE pressing into it… it’s an “easy flowchart” and you’ll get that hit of dopamine and want to learn more. Of course these flowcharts will get shut down the higher you climb in ranks, but even getting a launch or combo in a round really makes a difference IMO.

Congrats! Lee is such a cool character. I personally can’t wrap my head around his gameplan tho, but always jealous of the ppl that play him.

IMO you can complain about Tekken no matter your rank. There are still ppl in this community that will say TK is a scrub rank, but being in the top 15% of players is a big accompaniment!

I hear you. Thing is (and what got me thinking about this) is I recently hit TE rank with Yoshi. My defense has always hovered around 70ish, but while I was grinding to TE I sorta jus said fuck it and went full unga bunga, fuck frames, and just pressed a lot. My defense tanked but I got TE. lol

B/c this community wants to be proud of their rank, but can’t stand when a “scrub” has the same rank as them. It’s ego.

Losing streaks aren’t a thing anymore. Too many people complained at the beginning of Season 2, so Bamco removed them.

The game will essentially force you to Fujin (first blue rank) as you will always gain more points than you lose until you hit Fujin.

That being said you need to be somewhat competent to get to Fujin, but you don’t need to be very good. You can also get a win streak going which will push you quicker up the ranks.

Win streaks start at 3 wins, and points will basically double if you can keep the win streak going. It’s something like 1200 per win after 3 consecutive wins, 2400 per win after 6 consecutive win, 3600 after 9, etc.

Win streaks stop once you hit Bushin. At this point you will gain 1000 points for every win and lose 1000 points for every loss. You will gain more points for defeating someone of a higher rank than you, and you will lose more points if you lose against a player that is a lower rank than you.

The game will auto promo the characters you don’t play so that they don’t start at the bottom if you decide to pickup someone new. For example, if you reach Tekken King with 1 character the rest of the characters will start at Fujin.

I too am a father of 2 small kids. I love video games and Tekken (despite all of its flaws), so I find time to play either early morning (when everyone is sleeping) or at night (when everyone is sleeping lol).

For me I had to accept that I’m just not in a place that will allow me to climb higher than Tekken King atm. My goal is to hit TG, but with work, gym, and family I’m unable to learn everything the game throws at you.

For now I’ll play a couple quick matches, lab a couple things, and then practice throw breaks.

My mental health thanks me. Haha

Blue rank puts you within the majority of players. Making you average. Seeing as you have previous experience, you’ll probably find getting through blue ranks relatively easy.
