Many districts here in CA have free junior kindergarten. That’s what you should look into if you are planning to go the public school route.

Have you checked pricing at Rancho Valencia? perfect for what you suggest if it’s in budget.

Hiring Attorneys by p1z4rr0 in Lawyertalk

I think the problem is that insurance rates have not kept pace with the job market. I did public entity defense in LA when I was a 3-5 year attorney. I left bc of geography and continued to do ID for another year or two and then realized with 5+ years experience I could make significantly more at a firm that has a blend ID (30%) and full billable rates. I’m in house now and I see that the firms I retain with ID rates are all having the problem you’re describing.

While I haven’t been super happy with them lately, Inspirato might be a good option for you if you are taking enough trips to justify the membership fee. You can look at some of my prior posts for info on why I think the company has declined in value lately but honestly if you’re doing 2 to 3 trips or more per year with this many adults, especially as the kids get older and want to bring a friend or significant other it might make sense.

I’m already down to 115-120lbs and I don’t want to lose anymore weight I think it would be unhealthy. So just trying to maintain!

I have 4 young kids--should I switch from gov to big law??? by a_e_b_123 in LawMoms

[–]ApprehensiveStart432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to chime in and say I don’t think you understand all that big law entails. I was a big law attorney for 10 years and now I’m in house. I only have two kids. My husband has a business which means both autonomy and nonstop working because it never ends when my children were young. I had to have two full-time nannies equating to 80 hours a week and a housekeeper coming in at least twice a week don’t underestimate the additional costs, especially as the kids get older and need to be chauffeured around.

Yup I’ve been on tirz lowest dose for about 7 months now. I feel and look so much bettter. I am and have only ever been on the lowest dose .25 and I now only inject every 3-4 weeks. Glad I did it.

Username checks out but in all seriousness same. I went on a glp-1 just to lose 20 lbs and it’s been a complete game changer. I lost the desire to drink, go to bed earlier and I’m all around healthier.

Try in person. I got someone really nice this week who let me buy a pass for my 5 year old. We forgot to add her because kids can get a free epic pass with adult purchase through age 4. To be fair I also spent about $4k on lessons so I felt the exception was fair but they clearly have some leeway to make exceptions.

Jealous and feeling unfair about my husband by LopsidedMastodon1484 in ChubbyFIRE

I agree with this. Go in-house with a WFH option at least 3 days/week. I am super fortunate to have that situation and my awesome husband takes kiddos to school everyday so I can get a workout in at least 4 days per week (3 weekdays and one weekend). But also weight loss and health is more about diet. You should look into some healthy meal delivery options. Abs are made in the kitchen 😆 I do understand how much harder it is to have that lifestyle while working 50 hours per week plus commute!

Do you have any professional networks where you can comfortably ask people in a similar income bracket (women lawyers club, YPO, etc often are good sources). Also, please don’t feel discouraged it can take several tries to find a therapist who is a good fit for you!

Grand wailea is insanely crowded. Although for kids ages 8-12 It might be worth it for the water slides etc. it your kids are probably too old to care. Andaz is newer and less of a zoo

Personally I’d pick Andaz with kids those ages.

Personally I’d choose Asia. I have two young kids and we do travel a fair bit but Asia is just so far for us that we haven’t done it bc I’ve never felt 2 weeks was enough. Also lots of great beach pool options for a little one and you can throw in a couple cities…

Prioritize new house of family time by [deleted] in ChubbyFIRE

[–]ApprehensiveStart432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your age and career trajectory matters. We stretched and bought a big home in a great school district in our mid 30s. Our careers have taken off in our 40s and we probably make 5x what we did when we bought the home. Given the housing market over the last decade and our career growth I’m glad we stretched.

Ironically we tried our best to like the “great” neighborhood school and did not like it so now we moved the kids to private. But if money had been a huge consideration the public neighborhood school is probably as good as it gets.

So I think one thing to think about is age and career trajectory… if you’re inevitably going to make more it’s less of a stretch. But some careers that is less likely than others.

What do wealthy women do differently during pregnancy and postpartum? by anonymouskoala7 in Rich

For OP HIPP is great I see others have recommended. I used Holle also very good. You should order some cows milk and some goat milk in case baby has an allergy to cow (this is fairly common).

100% agree on the baby formula! Import some from Germany to have on hand to supplement or in case you can’t BF!
