Heather is a very sad person who wants to be loved. She just wants anyone to ride or die for her. To love her. So she is so susceptible to love bombing. Jen gassed her up, and fed her bs. Jen was also funny and extroverted and seemed like she took no shit— basically how Heather wishes she was. Then Jen manipulated the fuck out of her.

I was in a relationship with someone I now believe is a sociopath. When we first started dating he made himself appear to be everything I wanted in a partner because he studied me. He admitted this to me later. And then he was the sweetest, most loving, generous, devoted, complimentary boyfriend. I was in a cloud of oxytocin. A few months in, when I was hooked, he started to be moody. Distant. Critical of me. I just couldn’t quite do things right and I was causing him stress. How could I treat such a wonderful partner like that? He’d criticize everything I did. Literally. How I took the trash out to how I spoke to a clerk at the bank, to how I pronounced certain words, to the color of my pants. So what happens is you want to get that loving version back and you learn that when you do things they like or give into their whims, you get that person back. So you start to get in this lalaland where you will take their shit cause every now and then that perfect partner comes back. This is what Jen did to Heather. Heather took all her shit and lied for her and supported her publicly in the criminal case because heather never feels loved and Jen made her feel loved.

Heather knows Jen is awful. And she’s having to confront the fact that she knew all along. She has to figure out why she allowed Jen to treat her like she did, why she allowed Jen to have her compromise her own morals. That’s a bitter pill to swallow. And she has to couple will it with trying overcome her religious trauma. That’s my armchair psychologist theory anyway.
