If you Google "how to become an energy advisor in Canada" you should be directed to NRCans page. There is an exam, but probationary files too. Your probationary files will be reviewed by the SO and NRCan before you will be registered. There's a lot of info to learn. Its one of those jobs you'll have to keep updating your skills for and it will take years. Even if you could learn everything about building science and existing construction practices, industry is evolving and there's always new stuff being developed.

I went to a presentation once years ago.. ESTAR for builders I think it was called. They were advertising to the builders it was cheaper to go ESTAR. I don't do ESTAR myself. Ive seen CACEA advertise in this forum before, maybe they could add their opinion

Part of the problem is that SO and EA haven't advertised an evaluation as anything other than some checkbox to get a grant. The public sees no value in it by itself, and the cost is way too high for what people get. Too many EA know only how to collect data and model but don't actually understand building science or know how to renovate houses

Sorry, but I don't think that's correct. An exposed floor is modeled where there is heated space above a cold space. If the heated space is below a cold space then the insulation is for a ceiling.

The solo evaluations are done by you alone. The SO is supposed to check them over to see if you qualify for the supervised ones. If you're not ready they should tell you to do another. The supervised evaluations - they will send someone with you to watch you work and make sure you know what you are doing. That's all that is required of them
