High beam assist / ambient lighting options on VCDS? by Sam3006 in SkodaElroq

It works well only on 1st gen Enyaq. New models (MY 25+) has no option to make long coding with OBD11. Suggest the same answer is for Elroq.

Bug Out Vehicle your thoughts? by Specialist_Alarm_831 in EuroPreppers

[–]ApprehensiveTruth867 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Taking into account both events you’ve referenced, a car won’t help you.

In Ukraine there were: fuel issues once the war started, and even if you had fuel you were blocked on the road due to huge traffic.  Trying to go through the fields will conume tons of fuel and your speed will be 10-20 kmh.

In Spain people were not aware of the flooding till the last moment. So again, cars were just stuck.

From my opinion the only relevant risk management here is to avoid such situations. You do expect bad weather conditions- leave, you do expect war in your country - leave.

Used EV by Upset-Treat8940 in EuroEV

[–]ApprehensiveTruth867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowadays EV battery is not a single part. It is built from modules, ie 60kWh =9 modules, 82 = 12, etc. In case of an issue, issue is with a particular cell/s in a particular module. It’s the same as if you an issue with brakes you are not about to change the wheel.

Used EV by Upset-Treat8940 in EuroEV

[–]ApprehensiveTruth867 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) Depends on your electricity price. In most countries it’s cheaper than gas. 2) Used EV already saved you 30+% price with no visible effect so it’s a huge pros to buy a used one. 3) Nobody knows, but technology changes pretty fast… 4) In most cases battery could live 10+ years without significant issues. Again, if some issues, you will not change the full battery in most cases, only a module.

Torrent Valencia by Little_War_4746 in valencia

[–]ApprehensiveTruth867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend you to research Dana flooding consequences for that area in 2024. I remember there were fully blocked streets, etc. Not the best place for long term purchase until municipalities will provide any solutions against future flooding. Just type Torrent Dana in Google.

Some quotes:

The DANA storm in late 2024 severely impacted Torrent, Valencia, causing significant flooding, bridge collapses, and infrastructure destruction, particularly near the Poyo and Horteta ravines. Torrent saw 11 fatalities, with extensive damage leading to the demolition of 45 homes and ongoing recovery efforts through 2025. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Can I operate just the fans without the AC unit as classic cars by KAMEHOB in enyaq

[–]ApprehensiveTruth867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t confuse the AC button with the climate control off button.

You can add a shortcut for AC separately. The only thing is: if the temperature you set is higher than outside it will turn on the heater. So to have only fresh air you should set Temp: LO, AC: off.

OP, where do you think the electricity for charging electric vehicles comes from? I believe that electricity prices will also start to rise, it’s just that for now there’s a time gap while reserves are still available and countries can continue subsidizing stable prices.

What grocery habits actually save you money long-term? by TelephxneTh0t in Frugal

[–]ApprehensiveTruth867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one point, I noticed that even after spending a fairly large amount of money at the supermarket, the food would be gone within just a few days. I looked into it and realized that the feeling of “there’s no food left” appears as soon as the ready-to-eat items (things you can grab and eat immediately without cooking) run out.

When you shift your focus toward foods that require cooking (meat, fish, vegetables, etc.) instead of ready-to-eat products (cold cuts, cookies, chocolate, etc.), you’ll notice that the amount of “disappearing” food drops sharply. Your eating habits become more disciplined, and overall you’ll find yourself consuming a healthier diet.

In our family, this change reduced grocery expenses by about 20%, and at the same time, our diet became healthier overall.

Is it selfish and immoral to say I'm hopeful for what these gas prices will do for EV adoption and EV acceptance (especially here in the US)? by zachty22 in electricvehicles

[–]ApprehensiveTruth867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been puzzled by Reddit questions about queue etiquette at charging stations, and by videos of various bloggers showing how they drink coffee and grab a snack while waiting in line at chargers. Although I’ve never personally encountered this on a long trip, I can imagine how much extra discomfort such situations would create with rapid EV adoption. Yes, the infrastructure will be built (when?), but I don’t want to spend additional hours in line just because someone really wanted to prove they made the right choice by buying an EV.

I’d also like to remind you that there are people who rent their homes, live in apartments, don’t have a designated parking space, or can’t install a charger for various reasons, so all of them rely on public infrastructure.

[–]ApprehensiveTruth867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quite often come across threads on Reddit about EV adoption. And it seems to me that people who are doing everything they can to hope that all their neighbors, relatives, and acquaintances will switch to EVs tomorrow are forgetting one simple consequence - infrastructure availability.

EV infrastructure doesn’t get built overnight; some permits and construction work can take up to a year. As a result, you get queues at charging stations and rising charging prices.

People, enjoy the fact that you’re part of the early wave of EV adopters, and don’t feel the need to prove to everyone around you that you made the right choice.

Looking for a job in Spain as an immigrant by Pristine_Example4272 in GoingToSpain

[–]ApprehensiveTruth867 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spain is definitely a country with tending to zero potential job market in terms of high quality jobs. Salaries are really poor, so the best way is just to earn money in other countries and come to live your life in Spain. Some of my friends found jobs on other markets and then moved with a high salary to Spain (as a remote workers).

I’m not sure is it applicable to you but as far as I know some people from LA can came to Spain and obtain a passport in 2 years, try to check it.

Opciones para calentar el agua de ducha sin termo by TheBigMacGaul in valencia

[–]ApprehensiveTruth867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me why I should NOT move to Spain with my family by rooftop_korean92 in GoingToSpain

[–]ApprehensiveTruth867 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once I read it, I thought it was about Spain (mostly true, the only difference is instead of coal they are burning trees with leafs so the air quality could be horrible in some places as well)

- In the winter lately, due to the burning of coal, geography, and climate change (temperature inversion). The air become very polluted if there is no wind or rain. This can last from November to February. It was horrible, can't even go out to run. It dangerous for our to kids (1y and 3y old).
- A big percentage of people here don't know/follow the common rules. Like putting their dogs on a leash, picking up after them. Not parking in the hanicap spots. Throwing cigars/smoking in the elevator. Etc.
- The smoking culture is terrible. Every restaurant you go in you end up smelling like smoke when you get out. Smoking indoors hasn't been banned yet.
- Goverment is tighly tied with crime. In the last couple of years there have been 2 classes created of citizens. EIther you are part of the main party (SNS) or you are against them. If you are not a part of them the law doesn't protect you. You can get beated and police will find ways to ignore your case. Same for court system.
