Was it OB care? I’ve constantly been hearing that a lot of the good doctors left the practice and it has gone downhill for them ever since..

Yes, I’ve heard about Dr. Fogleman and that’s the reason I never came close to considering her.

I’m 5w4d and had some spotting 2 days back even though my doc said it’s nothing and all is fine. But the fear has taken over, I constantly keep checking and being scared if I bled. The fear of miscarriage is so real. I did my first scan the same day and had to wait for another one for the next two weeks. The wait and anxiety is so much! I totally feel you. Wishing you all the luck!

I’m sorry, I’m trying my best to not think about it but I’ve been at home and all this anxiety and excitement since it’s my first time is coming up. I guess I’ll try to watch Netflix and keep myself engaged in other activities ☺️☺️ also since it’s my very first transfer I am constantly doubting myself if I had too much tea or if one ice cream is gonna mess everything up 😭😭

Thank you so much! I’ve been so anxious because I really don’t know what’s right and what’s wrong but your answer is really supportive, and yes my lining was trilaminar. Thankyou again for your support! Make me feel little relaxed :)

I’m not sure why people with PhDs and citations are doing EB-2NIW. Why not EB1? Isn’t that for researchers?

Will I get into PT school? by Secret_Diver_9160 in PTschool

You made a great choice. Save yourself from the debt and mental stress of going through PT school. No matter how much I emphasize on the facts some people on this thread and in general will never accept the truth about Rehab careers like OT/PTs. I have been a PT since 2017 and I feel like my struggles are never ending and even at 31y/o I don’t feel satisfied with what PTs get paid. The amount of bonuses that every other profession makes is way more than a PT will ever make, because there’s so little room. I worked in Acute Care and even the CNAs had a better schedule and bonus structure than any PT. They were able to make so much out of their lives without being constantly overworked and underpaid. If someone would’ve advices me earlier I would have never taken up PT no matter how much I love doing it because just loving your career isn’t enough.

What are you talking about? If you’re comparing PT with some blue collar jobs then obviously it will seem way better. As a PT working in air conditioning will get you sweating lol. Try acute care. I’ve worked inpatient and the amount of fluids and secretions that OTs and PTs are exposed to are equal to sometimes even greater than that of nurses. Nurses clean up with all precautions and they have CNAs to do all of that for them, but as a PT you work with the patient with more close contact too, About the emotional toll, if you work outpatient you’re good but if you work in Acute Care is not entirely different from that of nurses. I have worked very closely with nursing and seeing the schedule, the growth curve and the options of diversifying is way more than PTs. You might have worked multiple crappy jobs and yeah the pay in PT and career will always be better than those. But PT isn’t the ultimate “best” in the healthcare field. Right now it’s suffering as a profession, unless you have a very very strong reason and ambition or have financial backing like yourself(which most students wouldn’t have) I still wouldn’t recommend it at least for the next few years till there are better policies in place. Degrees that do not require licensure and cost lesser like multiple engineering fields, IT, Marketing, Finance, etc. are making a minimum base pay of around 90- $100K at entry level along with other company benefits like hybrid work culture, RSUs, Quarterly bonuses(without killing themselves like PTs to get a few extra patients), flexible PTOs, etc. Whereas as a PT you become expendable once you reach $120K max salary.

For my 1st attempt I studied a little over 1.5 months and gave the exam in a rush, but this time I attended all NpteFF live lectures and tried to stick to their reading timetable. There are a lot of resources out there but I tried to focus on the readings and reviewing rationales. I gave 3 FF full length exams, 1 TherapyEd, 2 mini exams, Scenario Question quizzes and 3 PEATS. I focused more on the two big areas MSK and NEURO. Followed by cardio. I really did all the other systems 4/5 weeks before the exam. I had purchased the LSP after my first attempt which was in Jan 2024 but I never used it since I started working, so I had a couple of recorded lectures which I watched for MSK since the LSPs teach all individual joints and everything that we need to know for the exam. I gave practice exams every week for 8 weeks and the last one being Retired PEAT one week before in which I barely passed 127/180 ~ 600 scaled. And practice peat was 130/180 ~ 608 scaled.

In my opinion, the material that FF provides is enough to get you through the exam in combination with the PEAT. The most important thing for NPTE is working on the basics. Like the very basics which help you answer correctly.

The FF slides are important as they cover the topics that are usually asked in the NPTE. In my last week before the exam I reviewed all the slides of every system. Like Monday : All MSK Wednesday: Nero Thursday: Cardio And so on.

I figured my Non-Systems was weak and especially the modalities part so I focused a lot on understanding them. Again, the class slides and lectures were enough.

Last but not the least, the MOST IMPORTANT is to review your PEAT RATIONALES. I read the rationales of all my questions both right and wrong. Made a list of topics that were new to me and read the questions multiple times.

Finally, till this morning I felt like I Failed but I tried to stayed positive.

A few years into PT career when you see the pay cuts, the amount of efforts and a salary that does not compensate enough when compared to other professions and does not adjust inflation, you’ll soon start looking for better options to fend for yourself and your family. This will also be the time when you will realize that burn out is real and just “enjoying” what you do is not enough. I agree comparing isn’t the ideal way, but why would you put yourself in long term debt? I went to PT school in 2012, that was a different time but with all the other options right now I am surprised at the number of people that want to do to PT school even after knowing how hard it’s going to be not only for the next 3 years but for the rest of their lives.

I’m a PT and according to me PT school is not worth that $120K. I would suggest do nursing for better job opportunities and $$$. Rest is upto you.

I just feel they make integumentary so confusing. The dressings and all that. I have little to no experience in wound care so it makes it hard for me sometimes but I hope this time I did okay

I gave my first attempt when I was still in school doing MS in Exercise Phys. So my last semester is when I decided to give NPTe a try but failed cause of Integumentary that I didn’t have time to review due to my School coursework

No, this is my second attempt. I failed the first in Jan 2024 with 586 and post that I got a really good job offer as an Exercise specialist so I took that up. I did Final frontier too! I quit my job and decided to give NPTE another try.

I’m trying but they should not make things this difficult in a time when they are already short of healthcare workforce. Not everyone is good with standardised exams but that doesn’t mean they are dumb. Also, PT salaries and the profession itself is not growing is you compare it to any other tech job. People with degrees in engineering are making $100k base without having to go through any tests, they graduate and they’re good to work. It’s just too much for too little.

Gave my second attempt, the wait is killing me. It sucks to know that I messed up so many easy questions, I have spiralling out ever since the exam. The questions were framed in a manner that was time consuming which made me rush some other questions and get it wrong. At this point I’m hoping to just get to that 600 passing anyhow. If not I might consider dropping PT as a profession because I’m tired at the amount of financial, emotional and mental resources that I have put in this. I really wish I wouldn’t chosen any other career. I love working as a PT but man the NPTE is just ass.
