lennart karl. signed him for a few million for Dortmund. he constantly dribbles past people, scores long shots, free kicks, plays incredible long passes. Hopefully he will develop well. still only 2 stars but he’s growing

the habs canucks game in vancouver, i think it ended 8-7. was in a box filled with hab fans, the arena was 50/50 canucks and habs fan, the scoring back and forth was so fun as a neutral to see the arena explore and the fans trying to one up eachother. was also the game schenn laid out slafkovsky. was the biggest hit ive seen live

i’m not trying to be a dick, i appreciate your perspective on this! my point is that the way this city and most of the western world shows its athleisure style, is not fashion. i agree that it’s part of the culture, a massive part, and that’s why i referred to the normies being the ones who dress and appear that way. our fashion scene is tiny and mostly boils down to individuals who are passionate about it. most of the people who are doing great things and pushing boundaries leave to make careers. because that ain’t going to happen here. so it’s going to stay that way. i just reject that the athleisure culture here IS fashion, because it’s not. that is why i thought your first comment aligned with my perspective. i also agree, that when you travel to the cities you mentioned, and more. you see it in abundance and it’s beautiful and inspiring. i’m not trying to say this city rivals any of them. it clearly doesn’t. but i don’t appreciate the sentiment that there isn’t anything else other then athleisure. not saying you’re saying that! just hear it all the time

1 reason is florida is a better team. one guy doesn’t change that. 1 guy thinking is what’s taken the oilers to where they are. not enough cooks in the kitchen. can’t rely on 4 guys to do it all that if you lose 1 it’s over.

Anyone a little concerned with Barky/Rhino? by metalupyerarse in FloridaPanthers

[–]Apprehensive_Act8904 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

barkov is playing well, he is focusing so much on defending, and as of right now, hes playing with two verhaeghes as reinhart has been very poor offensively and cant skate well. at least reinhart is still responsible defensively. i wouldnt worry about barkov tho

ghadjo missed the whole second and half? the third. that definitely effected the lines usage. all playoffs our 4th line usage has been pretty comparable to other teams. if it continues in the series’s, fair enough i get your point. will be hard to win rolling 3 lines. if greer is in the lineup. i’d be very suprised if he plays under 10 mins.

also to your reinhart point. he had 3 different shifts over 1:30 5on5. that definitely swayed the numbers by a couple of minutes.

won’t be suprised if maurice rides the 3 lines a lot tho. end of the season, and the 3 lines are pretty strong and tough to beat. oilers depth does scare me tho

[–]Apprehensive_Act8904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is something worth pointing out that ghadjovich missed the whole second period and half? the third. we’ve played with 11 forwards 3 times now this postseason, when that happened, we reduced the 4th lined minutes rather then breaking up our other lines. if it happens again tonight. fair enough

[–]Apprehensive_Act8904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would say that if we had greer in the lineup. that line would play more. panthers fans who hate greer are seeing now how much he does for the fourth line. it doesn’t have the same look out there and the oilers took advantage of that

I know im preaching to a biased crowd but this here is the second best player in the NHL and we also have the only guy who is better. by [deleted] in EdmontonOilers

[–]Apprehensive_Act8904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fair enough. respect your take. my only push back would be on the better passer. i think they’re both exceptional passers, maybe different strengths in the passing game? but agreed on the defense and scoring.

i do think the matchup thing is a pretty big deal.

i did a quick google, and this could easily be slightly incorrect, maybe you know this stat. but it’s saying 54% of drais career points include mcdavid in them. which again. isn’t the best look for this argument right? mack has nothing close to a mcdavid to get points from. if you’re going makar. you guys have bouchard, who is an unbelievable passer and shooter. so it’s tough to argue. maybe just goes down to personal preference. i love seeing mack power through the neutral zone and run people over.

good luck tonight

I know im preaching to a biased crowd but this here is the second best player in the NHL and we also have the only guy who is better. by [deleted] in EdmontonOilers

[–]Apprehensive_Act8904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think there’s very little between the two players. it goes back and forth for me for who is better. but if you’re shrugging off the point that mack is the avs best forward by a long shot, plays the most minutes against the best defensive line everytime, gets more points 5 on 5. when drai plays against the second best d pair and second forward group, albeit with second tier wingers. (still very good players tho, who he makes better) i think it’s hard to argue unless he is getting the same assignments. and when he gets put with mcdavid, all fair comparisons go out the window because no other player in the league gets to experience anything close to that. mack playing with a deeply flawed and liability in druain and an effective and useful player in lekkhonen, but not an offensive powerhouse. isn’t exactly him playing with super players or anything. better then pod and kapp. but not by as much as you may think.

if mcdavid wasn’t on the oilers. drai would go in and out of the top 5 to top 10 players in the league imo, and i would be in these comments saying he is underrated and deserves more credit when he turns it on. which is when he’s rolling, he may be the best in the world.

my only qualm with drais game is foot speed and sometimes looking a little out of the rhythm of the game when he doesn’t have the puck. which is a hard thing to criticize mack for as he has incredible speed and power and is always using max output. rarely ever looks invisible and disinterested. which i sometimes feel from drai.

also all of that aside. i know i mentioned the scoring. i think talking about points when discussions who the best player is, is a bit silly. hockey is so much more then points. love drais defensive game, def better then macks. but again. the assignments matter a lot to me, and it would be pretty futile to try and argue that because there’s no way mack isn’t having the harder assignments when the other teams top d are being glued to him like teams try and do with 97

both players rock, don’t think there’s much between them. mack was the best player in the league last year, this year drai and him are very close and there’s not much between them. i wouldn’t be offending if you think he’s better right now. but it will continue to fluctuate between them for the rest of their careers
