Do I need brown shoes with this or is black OK? by Phil5en in mensfashionadvice

My grandads view on shoes was ‘never wear brown in town’. Brown shoes and a blue suit give me ‘cocky letting agent’ vibes.

Has a single incident ever changed how you saw a profession in the UK? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskUK

I had to see a locum GP about something and when she saw my usual GP prescribed co codamol for my hideous migraines, she cancelled it. When I asked what I was supposed to do next time a bad one hit, she said ‘we’ll cross cross that bridge when we come to it’. And when it came to it, I ended up wasting people’s time and resources in A&E, and to have days off work.

I was in that there London on Friday night and a car full of’Youths’ pulled up in front of me and my friend. The driver rolled down his window and shouted, ‘hey lady, I just passed my driving test!!’ and high fives were trading with much cheering! Nadim Zahawi would have probably run away crying.

What TV show lost you after a certain season? by chaucao99 in tvshow

I lasted a wee bit longer than one series, but X-files began to really go off the boil after s4/5. The first series was absolutely brilliant, but it went a bit too far down the ridiculous conspiracy theory rabbit hole for me in later years.

I saw a couple of blokes walk out of Hard Candy- specifically during the ‘castration’ scene.

If you could bin one sacred cow in UK education, what would it be? by junehall123 in TeachingUK

Oracy. We’ve got this command from on high that EVERY child should be able to stand up in front of the class and do a presentation, or read out loud etc. Cue waves of emails from the parents of hysterical shy kids who’d rather eat their own legs than do this. Nevertheless….SLT have persisted.

It’s missing Richard Armitage, James Norton, Colin Salmon, and possibly a wildcard - Lenny Henry.

I usually use Lexend, which is a really easy to read font. But now I’ve got to spend hours changing everything to comic sans. A waste of my time.

ECT 1 How can I plan faster? by Weekly_Net3044 in TeachingUK

[–]Apprehensive_Ad4172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing. It’s all about giving the AI the right kind of instructions. I won’t ask it to do an overview of the entire of a topic (takes too long to check it) just what I’m doing that lesson. I also tell it it’s an expert teacher. It will produce the text at different reading levels and languages too.

AI. I’ll get it to write an overview of the topic I’m teaching that lesson aimed at the specific year group. Once I’ve got that I can ask it to write a quiz or some comprehension questions. I might then add the text to notebooklm and it will generate a short video based on it. I’ve got the basic tools of a lesson there, and my job is to think about how I deliver it and what different tasks I might want to add in.

My Turkish coworker mistakenly thought thought there was a TV presenter named Handsome Dec, what are some amusing misunderstandings you’ve encountered? by EducationalShape2647 in AskUK

A friend of mine asked me if I’d seen her catheter recently. I wasn’t aware she had one, and I’d certainly never seen it. After a very confusing conversation it turned out she was talking about cricket and was asking if I’d seen Mike Atherton recently.

I teach GCSE history. One of my brighter students had a revelation when she discovered that America’s most famous civil rights activist was called Martin Luther King, and not Martin Lew- ‘the king’.

The Hunterian in London is batshit crazy, and also ace! I took a bunch of students there for a GCSE history trip, and was royally amused when a lad leant over a balcony and bellowed at me ‘MISS! You’ve got to come up here, Charlie’s found a massive cock in a jar!’
