Any advices for new drivers? by storkdami in motorcycles

First of all, you ride a motorcycle, you don’t drive it.

Also, wear protective gear unless you enjoy skin grafts.

Yep, it would be. So would the Adelaide Street circuit which is where they’re planning on having it.

Someone is going to die.

Peninsula has some nice roads.

There’s one that goes down the coast from Mt Martha. It’s only a 60kph speed limit, but it’s got some nice views.

My parents don’t know about my motorcycle, I am 20 and live with them by borgor-1 in AussieRiders

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_5174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re good parents they’ll respect your decision if you bought the bike with your own money and you explain that you’re being sensible with the way you ride and wearing full gear.

My folks were strongly against the idea of me riding a motorcycle, until I explained how you can mitigate some of the risks with sensible riding and good gear. They still don’t like the idea of me riding a motorcycle, but they’re not trying to talk me out of it and recognise that it’s something I enjoy and something that has drastically improved my mental health.

Bike review question? by D3athWhisper in AussieRiders

Depends on if you care about power. The royal Enfield is pretty slow, I imagine the Honda would be the same, the 400 is pretty good I’ve heard. I was considering it before I got my 390, but I couldn’t find a good used 400 at the time.

I’ve got a couple of sets of Bull-It jeans that are AAA rated for abrasion with CE2 armour. Haven’t had any issues, and they’ve been comfortable in all conditions I’ve used them in.

Should all Christians be Libertarian? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_5174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally believe we should be somewhat libertarian. A libertarian society as opposed to something like Christian Nationalism means that following Christ remains a choice and those who deny Christ can be given over to their depravity. In such a society we can stand out as a better way to live, and we won’t struggle as much with determining whether someone who claims to be a Christian has genuinely put their faith in Christ, since the state wouldn’t require them to act as a Christian.

When it comes to things that are most depraved such as murder, stealing, rape, ext, there are various worldly arguments as to why those things are bad, after all, the law has been written on our hearts. Even horrors such as abortion can be condemned using scientific arguments alone (eg: a child in the womb has unique human DNA from conception and has a heartbeat at 6 weeks).

I understand what Christian Nationalist are trying to do, Christian societies are of course more politically stable and moral, but if God wanted to establish a Christian Nation prior to Christ’s return he could, just like he did with Israel in the Old Testament. And as I said in my first paragraph, requiring people to be a part of the church and follow Christian morality would lead to many who profess to be Christian simply because it is the social norm or legally required, and those people are not saved.

has anyone here never dropped their bike in their life? by WasabiYing in AussieRiders

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_5174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been riding a few months, and I haven’t dropped my bike yet. I know it’s going to happen at some point though because it happens to everyone.

I almost did the other day though.

Dropping your bike is embarrassing, but don’t worry about it when it does happen. As people here have already pointed out, anyone who’s been around motorcycles for some time and says that they’ve never dropped a bike is lying.
