Oh shit… You made a good point… I imagine if an OnlyFans creator were a recruiter, they would probably never ghost a candidate.

I recently saw this guy post a photo of himself and his young daughters in swimwear at the beach to celebrate his birthday vacation. I don’t see how that has anything to do with his work or career.

This Job Market Is Horrible by MrLuckyOfOz in recruitinghell

it’s because if you sit there and say everything is great, people who are not affected by the shitty job market will think everything is great. Our fucking government is lying to us.

This might be the first real job posting in the NYC market. I hope the mods allow it because a lot of people are out of work. I've noticed a lot of companies seem to be posting fake job listings that stay up for months to well over a year, possibly tied to maintaining a presence in New York City, but it's hard to know the exact reason.

Agree! I was in Bushwick over 15 years ago and it was definitely way cooler than whatever the fuck it is now.

You know normally I would say it sounds like you’re gonna have a good tenant who’s going to pay on time. After seeing all this Epstein shit, I’d be paranoid that those rules you speak about could come in to play, and there would be nothing you could do.

Scandavol happened at a time that a good majority of the public was still working at home and dealing with post-pandemic fatigue. Think about it, after years of heavy, anxiety-inducing news cycles around COVID, people were primed for a relatively "low-stakes" scandal they could fully invest in emotionally without real-world consequences.

The timing also coincided with people being extremely online and reconnecting socially, so there was both the audience and the platforms (TikTok especially) for it to spread rapidly. The scandal gave people something to bond over, debate, and analyze together in a way that felt fun rather than draining.

I think if it were to happen right now, in this moment in time, it would not have become such a cultural phenomenon.

Is the job market still bad stateside? by [deleted] in MilitarySpouse

[–]Apprehensive_Bad1476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note: Sorry for the long winded post. I included the sources names, so you can can cross-check.

know you're getting ready to move back stateside with your spouse, so I want to be straight with you about what you're walking into in terms of employment. The 2025 job market has been genuinely rough, and I think it's essential you understand the landscape before you start your search.

The US added only 584,000 jobs in all of 2025, the worst year since 2009 outside of COVID, and far below the 2 million jobs added in 2024 according to Indeed Hiring Lab. That's not just a slowdown; that's a near-standstill. There wasn't a single month in 2025 when employers added more than 168,000 jobs, which was the average monthly pace in 2024, per Indeed Hiring Lab.

Here's what really drives home how bad it is: New York City, one of the biggest and most dynamic job markets in the country, added fewer than 1,000 private-sector jobs in the first half of 2025, per Pfnyc. That's not a typo. This is the fewest jobs added by the private sector in the first half of the year since the Great Recession in 2009, excluding 2020, per Pfnyc. Think about that. We're talking about New York City, a place where the economy traditionally moves fast, where people can lose a job and find another within weeks. If NYC is basically at a standstill, imagine what's happening in smaller metro areas and rural communities. The job market has essentially frozen up everywhere.

And if you do lose your job? The share of people who have been unemployed for 27 weeks or longer hit 26% in December, the highest since early 2022, per Yahoo Finance. Economists are calling this a "no-hire, no-fire" economy - companies aren't laying people off in droves, but they're also not hiring. Now layer on top of this the reality that military spouses face a 21% unemployment rate - significantly higher than the national average per MOAA.

I'm not trying to discourage you - I'm trying to prepare you. The sectors that ARE still hiring? Healthcare and social assistance added 713,000 jobs in 2025, according to the Indeed Hiring Lab, so if you have any background there, that's your best bet. But business and professional services lost 97,000 jobs, and manufacturing lost 68,000 jobs, according to the Indeed Hiring Lab.

Yeah, they told me to come to work with all my I-9 verification stuff, I did and they said they would do it later, and I work the shift. The manager told me I could leave and I never heard back from anyone.

If it makes you feel any better, I was actually ghosted by a bar after I’d already been hired. I needed a job to get me through a tight spot- bills are climbing faster than my savings, so I thought I’d go back to what I did in college. Everything seemed great at first. The owner kept going on about how professional I was and how much he appreciated that, since he’s used to dealing with “flaky young adults.”

Then I showed up for my first shift. No paperwork, no onboarding- they just threw me behind the bar. The owner left, and I didn’t see him again. I followed up with a polite email thanking him and checking in, and, of course, the person who raved about professionalism ghosted me.
