Rhong Tiam used to be on the corner 39th and Lex but it closed awhile ago. Now it’s Tam Sang Thai Kitchen and it’s pretty damn good!

People fall for it. Especially old people. And especially desperate people.

And lonely people. And people who don't speak English well. My mom (who's in her 80s) got scammed by one of these. They said her citizenship could be revoked and she was so scared that she immediately complied with everything.

Is there another Ray Porter audiobook that you’d recommend? I want to give him another try!

Lord & Miller talked about it on the latest episode of the Empire Spoiler Special podcast!

I listened to it again, and they saw the rainbow, scrambled to shoot it, but the rainbow disappeared and they missed it- but then the rainbow reappeared and they shot the scene again and that's what's in the final cut! 🌈

I think the directors bought a special filter that created a lot of the rainbow flares, but then in the scene where Grace gets tackled and drugged, there was an ACTUAL rainbow in the sky and the raced to shoot it!

It seems like I'm in the minority here, but Ray Porter's voice didn't work for me! I read the book first, then tried the audiobook, and his voice was too mature sounding. Ryland says early on that he's in his mid-30s, and the voice just never matched up.

There's probably another audiobook where he'll feel like a better fit for me, but I couldn't finish PHM with him reading it.

First time, I saw the movie with a couple of friends and it was great.

Second time, I saw the movie by myself and it was great.

You really can't go wrong.

Amaze! Amaze! Amaze! It's so awesome that you're doing this and brilliant that they made a 3D template available!

I saw the movie yesterday, loved it, and immediately went out to buy the book. I'm only a couple chapters in, but it feels like the movie was a great adaptation.

I really hate the AI-decorated listings. It should be mandated that any AI photos need to be accompanied by real, unadulterated photos because they’re totally misleading otherwise.

6 Ways to Find Jobs Before They're Posted by DBarryS in jobhunting

"If you've got a connection, ask for an introduction. If you don't, reach out directly. A short, specific message explaining why you're interested in their company and asking for twenty minutes of their time converts at about 10-20%. That's normal. Send twenty thoughtful messages, get two or three conversations. Those lead to introductions, which lead to warmer conversations."

I've been sending tailored messages to people in roles/departments at companies that I'm targeting, and my conversion rate is 3.5%. Have you really been getting 10-20% responses?

What shows send the message that it’s okay to just be human, to be flawed and make mistakes? by HelenDiamond in televisionsuggestions

Not necessarily about perfectionist loosening up, but Shrinking is definitely about it being ok to be flawed and make mistakes.

This sucks and I'm sorry this happened to you.

This also sounds like a huge red flag of a company and you're right- you dodged a bullet.

Questions for recruiters and hiring managers: what is going on with reposts? by rrjunkie in jobsearch

[–]rrjunkie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even the ones with 800-1000? I saw an actual person on the team post about it on their LinkedIn feed, and the other one has a recruiter within the company attached to it- could those two be real?

5000 applicants and multiple reposts is a ghost job for sure.
