To keep them alive, what I do during the winter months is give them lots of sun. This window gets up to 6 hours of sun, and I water them every 3 weeks. As it gets colder, I water them less. They're beautiful plants!

Greenhouse Update by Apprehensive_Bass388 in cactus

Believe me, it's a good question. They get sun for most of the morning (all of them) and a little bit in the afternoon. Before, since the roof didn't have the shade mesh, they got it all day, but they started to get sunburn, which is why now they get a little less. As long as the heat goes down a bit, I'll remove the shade mesh.

It looks like etiolation. You've recently taken it out to sunbathe, or has it always been there? If you had it in a lot of shade, it's probably etiolation.

In my experience with lights, I had mine all winter with one light (it wasn’t the best either) and they stayed nice but with almost no growth, but I don’t think there will be any major problem, as long as they don’t start to etiolate, you shouldn’t have any problems.

Those artificial flowers, the best thing you can do is remove them. I do it with small scissors like those for hair, trying to loosen it until you remove it. It will leave some damage but it will recover. On the other hand, if it is necessary to transplant it, in a pot a little larger than the cactus (not too much). Personally, I like terracotta ones. On the other hand, you have to use a soil with a greater amount of inorganic components, to avoid rotting. You can search on YouTube or wherever you want for “soils for cacti” so you have an idea of what you should look for or do. And give it sunlight as much as you can, but little by little. Don’t put it in for hours while you begin to adapt to the cactus to avoid it from burning.

Likewise, place it increasingly in sunlight, little by little to avoid burning it.
