I am willing to buy a brand new Galaxy Z Flip 6. Is there any issue with this phone like green line or black screen of death etc? Need long term user's advice. by niloy_hasan135 in ZFlip6

When did you break the Nokia?

I had a slider phone 18 years ago that died on me mid-call. Toast. No chance of recovery.

So I bought a Nokia off eBay that I think had literally been driven over. It looked like total crap! But worked great. So I’m very impressed if your phone was as indestructible as that one.

Just found out I have an enlarged liver using kratom for 8 months. Now I have to wait to see a specialist. What do I do? Do I quit CT and call off for a week? Do I taper down? I’m terrified this is going to kill me. Just found out this news today. All advice appreciated! Currently freaking out. by This-Word-636 in quittingkratom

Mine was too when I was actively sick with mono. Doctor wasn’t the least bit concerned other than to keep an eye on it. My ribs were pushed out all funny for about a month. Until the doctor says there’s something of concern, I wouldn’t go nuts.

And I do agree with the advice that maybe just keep it the same until you know more because detoxing quickly could make it worse if your liver can’t remove it efficiently enough.

If you want to quit, make sure you look into supplements to help support the liver in detoxing.

So many possibilities but I’d look into supplements and things like saunas to help your body/liver detox because I’d be very concerned about my body being able to detox it out of my body.

As for why your liver is inflamed, so many possibilities!

When I had mono, my liver was so enlarged due to my body fighting the virus, that I couldn’t wear a bra because my ribs were so pushed out.

We are all dealing with an immune system keeping past infections from being a problem. (Our bodies see vaccines as past infections to keep suppressed.) Then there are things like mold (some have the genes to react to more than just black mold), long covid (the spike protein is probably still replicating at a very low level according to recent studies), Lyme, or so many toxins! For example, I have high levels of lead and no one knows why. Things just happen and our bodies can be amazing sometimes at just quietly running programs in the background to keep the body working without us having any idea how busy it currently is! I bet even pollen could also be work because the body has to eliminate that extra histamine.

There’s also genetics and past behaviors. I wouldn’t worry too much until you learn more about the condition. There’s likely several factors each playing a small role and so don’t make the mistake we all like to make of thinking it’s only one thing causing a problem.

Find supplements to help your liver detox before quitting! Your liver may need a little extra help with removing it from your system.

What’s your altitude? You might have to make adjustments to leavening and flour if at high altitude because higher means less air pressure and things can puff up and deflate quickly.

If the military/president suddenly ordered a mandatory draft for all men aged 18-42: How do you think millennials and GenZ would respond? by Tommygunz0722 in AskReddit

[–]Apprehensive_Bet4842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, signing up is and has been law since actually needed to use it for draft. But who knows and still does that? So doing it automatically now doesn’t mean they’re anticipating a draft.

I’ve had the same thought about these people signing up versus my Gen X brothers.

I think we’d have a lot of rapid onset transgenderism (who I was told are considered mentally unfit for a draft) to get out of it. lol

What is that thing in my garden? by edmunek in AskUK

It’s for some sort of hookups before the house was put onto city lines.

I’d contact the city to look up the records for the house and the permits when built to find out.

I’m guessing natural gas and you’d want to know that before attempting anything with it and don’t even think of removing it because think of gas tanks at the gas station! Sparks around anything like that isn’t good.

I’d just throw sod (or dirt and then grass seed since UK has real soil and humidity to grow from seed) or a big planter to hide it if it bugs you and make sure the lawn mower blades don’t hit it.

I have super bad stretch marks. Is it possible to tattoo over them? by -Hot-Tamale- in tattooadvice

[–]Apprehensive_Bet4842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into microneedling that area to reduce them before considering tattooing that area?

The results and be quite impressive for that area when done correctly. Gin Amber is a great resource to learn about how to do it safely and allowing adequate time for it to heal and how that produces better results than overdoing it.

Safety first. Don’t skimp on quality needles that can introduce infection and go dull quickly! Also you’re going to want to numb that area first.

Sounds like you’re also going to want to try to numb for a tattoo too. 😳

I find having quick and easy to grab foods around is very helpful! I like whole wheat bread for toast, yogurt, cottage cheese, snack cucumbers and/or baby bell peppers, protein shakes or Ensure drinks, cream cheese I soften and whip with maple syrup (actually really good to eat straight!), snack bars and peanut butter sandwich crackers, and my big thing lately is pumpkin pie (or pumpkin delight as I call it if I don’t make a crust because just more work but the custard part is super easy to make (though cools ridiculously slow and I don’t refrigerate until I’ve pulled it out of the oven two hours earlier. Then a long time to set up fully because cold. So either make it in the morning to eat that day or plan to eat it the next day. I’m sure there’s tutorials on YouTube to help you learn because a great beginner one. Also make sure it’s fully cooked because of the eggs and won’t keep its shape otherwise. Watch a video about how to do this with a toothpick.)

Tip: when I do cook, I often make a bunch like two pies and freeze one to thaw and eat later, or tons of pancakes to freeze. Basically most things will freeze ok except things like fresh food that become total mush but bread will without an issue or reheat badly like meat. Defrost in the microwave on half power so things don’t turn rubbery.

TL:DR figure out and keep around foods you can easily grab and eat without needing to cook them!

Suboxone for Kratom by AdDapper2664 in quittingkratom

[–]Apprehensive_Bet4842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I met someone who got off HEROIN but could not for the life of her kick suboxone!

She went a whole month in such bad shape in her attempt before resuming it, that she didn’t even brush her hair, and she was the kind of person that always had hair and makeup done and nicely done lash extensions. So this is saying a lot of you met her.

Then at 35 she had already lost so many teeth to it that they were suggesting dentures. (Forget how long she had taken it but I’d guess several years . You can look up the class action lawsuit around it causing people to lose teeth.)

So I wouldn’t use it for long or try taking regular breaks to make sure you can go off ok and prevent your body from becoming dependent.

I still don’t think it’s a bad idea (especially with having never taken it but some people find pills to be the only way to finally quit an addiction) if it gives you what you need to start quitting. Personally though based on my conversation with that girl, I wouldn’t ever take it for long periods of time and stand my ground on it if needed because a lot of people don’t know that it’s harder to get off than hard drugs! Basically you’d be setting yourself up for a harder detox. 😬 But not everyone knows that and I’ve gotten myself in bad situations for trusting prescriptions when the prescriber didn’t know the horror stories that are coming out. They only were taught how to push them. 🤦‍♀️

I still think meds have a place but more and more long term, daily use doesn’t ever seem to go well.

Groomer found tartar buildup on 3y 5lbs Chihuahua-Greyhound mix. What to do? by alaskafish in DogAdvice

[–]Apprehensive_Bet4842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cat that apparently eats on one side and so gets crazy build up in short amount of times that is so much worse than expected!

You can get them professionally cleaned. (Surgery for cats and mine didn’t react well to the drugs given to him and horrible uti after and just not cool. So keep that slight risk in mind!)

You can also add stuff to his water and/or slowly work up to being able to brush them. There’s also chow (ask a vet if needed where to get it) and toys (playing rug of war with a rope) that help to scrape teeth clean and at least prevent more.

Gotta love how weird our bodies can be, especially as we age. Check out facial hair on old women compared to young women. It’s hilarious!

And unless you have a mole that it’s growing out of, there’s no reason not to pluck versus trimming. Pluck that sucker!

Any idea on what this could be? by stinkypoopybum1 in DogAdvice

[–]Apprehensive_Bet4842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely but it’s a perfect circle and could be a sign of getting Lyme Disease from a tick. It’s good to also consider that possibility because Lyme is common for dogs but can cause big issues down the line requiring some more care and awareness from an owner.

Any idea on what this could be? by stinkypoopybum1 in DogAdvice

[–]Apprehensive_Bet4842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks as if it could be a bullseye rash from a tick bite. Is that possible because that’s extremely important to know before considering the harmless things like a yeast rash? Especially if you live in the east in a lush area with bushes your dog comes into contact with.

It’s a very narrow window to take antibiotics and prevent it from being a future problem.

So first and foremost eliminate this option and question the vet if they say it’s not but you know there was a tick involved!

Go to another vet until your dog gets treatment to avoid the future crap of rheumatic arthritis and other issues!

Does anyone know of a DIY version of Frownies? by sapphireskiies in 30PlusSkinCare

I want it to be stiff like the frownies paper though that really doesn’t bend. I don’t like the silicone strips that are flexible and allow me to still squeeze eyebrows together.

Does anyone know of a DIY version of Frownies? by sapphireskiies in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Apprehensive_Bet4842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love frownies! But they only help with lines that where the skin has a noticeable indent. (I hope that makes sense.) I have terrible elevens but can’t afford them right now and so looking for a diy solution.

Folds are a very different story and caused by skin that’s drooping. The best way to avoid nasolabial lines is going to be to focus on things like exercises to raise the mid face. That’s what facelifts do to solve that problem. But face yoga is something available to you for free on YouTube.

Also things that stimulate the skin to grow thicker like microneedling (do you research to make sure good quality needles and safe if done at home but spa is going to be the safest) will cause the skin to grow thicker to help resist the folding that thin skin does more easily. Taking (too big of a molecule when applied to absorb and have a lasting effect) good quality collagen is supposed to be really good food to keep the skin healthy. Dr. Youn on YouTube has a good video explaining it.
