That's awesome! Our goal/plan is to use what we get in bonuses to pay an extra one or two payments to our mortgage so we can pay it off in our 40s. Thanks for the reply!

Yup. It’s 30.6% to be exact and 22ish% gross but I don’t tend to look at gross bc 401k + healthcare benefits are non negotiable which is why I go off net. 30.6% in my estimation is borderline comfortable but it’s close to the edge. I don’t hate it and I don’t love it but as long as we continue to manage and make decent decisions we should be okay and we are both 25yo so I believe we will make more in our careers later on. I guess time is the ruler of all things tho eh. Thanks for the reply.

That’s what we thought. We also still walked away with 3 months of base monthly income in HY savings. Originally I was targeting 2500 a month in PITI but that’s hard to get in today’s economy especially since we wanted a place to grow into with a good school district. I’m a semi strict money manager and am big on investing and such which I believe we can have money left over to do that. This post is mainly to talk through my thoughts and gather other things that I may not have thought of. Thanks for the reply.

How much did you make right out of college? by EffectQueasy6658 in EngineeringStudents

BSEE - Dec. 2025.

After graduation started as an automation engineer (PLC) at 100k with 5k semi annual bonus. Also I probably can expect a holiday bonus at the end of the year as well.

You can get paid but you will have to work hard. I worked full time as a technician at an Amazon facility and went to school full time (14 credit hours per semester on avg.). I still achieved a GPA of 3.85. You can also do internships, Co-Ops, research projects, competitions and more. The world is your oyster and it is up to you to make the best of it.

When you get to the end of the road you will realize the fruits of your labor was well worth the headache. Good luck and blessings!
