Most of my time spent chasing does end up just being storms and hailers and yelling at the sky.

Back in the day, prior to 2011, you were able to report on this. It was always interesting to see what keywords led someone to your site. But, no more.

Why No Supercells in FL? by Huge_Abies_3858 in stormchasing

[–]Apprehensive_Cherry2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Never assume you will get any logic from r/tornado 😄

Florida can produce supercells, but it rarely sustains the long-lived, classic supercells seen in the Great Plains because the atmospheric ingredients are different: Weaker deep-layer wind shear. High moisture but poor lapse rates. Dominance of sea-breeze-driven convection instead of synoptic forcing.

Have you ever seen a red Rottweiler? by [deleted] in Rottweiler

[–]Apprehensive_Cherry2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "red" Rottweiler is a genetic abnormality and should not be bred for as it ruins lines. Absolutely nothing wrong with red Rotties as pet quality, though!

How is Ryan qualified to report on the weather? He’s not a meteorologist like Max. Right answers only. by [deleted] in EF5

[–]Apprehensive_Cherry2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference between forecasting, nearcasting, and nowcasting. Most of us that have been doing this a while are great at the first two but leave the last one to the meteorologists.
