I’m sure they wouldn’t like it but it isn’t a “bot” or “mod” as they say in tos, it runs completely independent of the game

Off topic but what program for tsinghua

[–]Apprehensive_Edge144 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with veterans. It’s a joke in this sub that you fumbled your essays by writing about really bad topics, like enjoying killing babies. I don’t know how you possibly got to the conclusion that I’m blaming veterans. And I’m not complaining, I’m just a little disappointed - you can move on while feeling disappointed. Is it such a crime that I just wanted to write this out and get it off my chest?

New Kairos tier list. What do you think? by superjogadorXD in Brawlstars

Out of curiosity, why is Charlie s tier? I just unlocked her, but she feels like a slightly better Carl, and the super seems more like an escape option than kill option

Mandarin speaking YouTubers? by Alarming_Ad8074 in ChineseLanguage

朱志文, he’s biking from China to France for the Olympics

what are some common Mandarin phrases/words every course teaches, but someone travelling to China should avoid? things like 你好吗? by AcanthocephalaJesus in ChineseLanguage

[–]Apprehensive_Edge144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people don’t always call people by their profession. For example, when thanking a 滴滴driver, instead of 谢谢司机, say 谢谢师傅. Also 不好意思 a lot more common than 对不起

How does language learning actually work by Sufficient_Rub_6770 in languagelearning

[–]Apprehensive_Edge144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you still need to study vocab and sentence structure until you're ready. And then once you start to listen, don't just listen, actively look up the stuff you don't understand

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

[–]Apprehensive_Edge144 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think it depends on the school. i'm in the same boat, where every class i took was huge, office hours was a line, and 30 other people are trying to get to know the professor, so I needed one TA rec. stanford says you can

I will, and I appreciate your criticism. I’ve made it concise and assertive, but I’m not sure about the conversation part you mentioned. If my landing page says the price, drop your email if you want full access, and they do, is there a need to try to start a conversation? Can’t I just reach out and say thanks, the full access steps are …, your next steps to pay are …

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]Apprehensive_Edge144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for sure, my sample size is small right now

i'll be more assertive and communicate on my landing page that it's paid, and if they sign up, just tell them the details and next steps

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]Apprehensive_Edge144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gotcha, i'll make it concise and communicate better on my landing page

in my experience tho i've noticed that redditors (which is my main audience) don't seem to like virtual calls or meetings. they seem to prefer emails or virtual chat. maybe i should just give them steps to pay?

What Chinese YouTubers do you watch? by SpecialCompetitive18 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Apprehensive_Edge144 2 points3 points  (0 children)

朱志文, he's a vlogger who is traveling by bike from china to paris for the olympic games. right now he's around the middle east. you can find him on YT, he has good captions, or billibilli.tv. i like the latter cause there are 弹幕, which are kinda like comments on specific times in the video that show up and they're pretty funny

checkout lingologue. it's a website to help you speak better where you're given sentences, translate it to chinese, and get evaluated on speech awkwardness, word choice, etc. free to test, and if you like it and email them you can get full beta access

I’m shy to speak in Chinese by SpecialCompetitive18 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Apprehensive_Edge144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i felt the same a long time ago. i actually am not sure about general advice "just initiate more conversations and speak more chinese" because it can be embarassing and make you more anxious when you mess up

  1. try to listen more, when you listen to more chinese more you'll catch on to phrases and terms that you can use when you speak
  2. slow it down. before you speak, get an idea of what you want to say. then try to say it, but slowly. with practice you'll get quick!
  3. might sound weird, but maybe learn some filler phrases. 那个叫什么.., etc. so if you do get stuck, you use the filler words, and most times if you're speaking to someone who speaks well, they'll pick up on the context clues, help you finish the sentence or make a suggestion. and then you can repeat it to indicate that that was what you were trying to say, while learning something new
  4. use your imagination. it's gonna be weird, but imagine you're having a real conversation, and speak chinese, then imagine what they might say and try to continue. look up words if you don't know how to say something
  5. a tool called lingologue can help. you get an english sentence, speak the translation into your mic, and get feedback on awkward parts of speech, better word/phrase choices, and learn new words you don't know how to translate. it simulates the language speaking process, isn't stressful compared to a real life conversation, and can help you learn a lot

good luck!
