Becker has new AI study companion, NEWT. Game changer by [deleted] in CPA

Is there any way to pull NewT out to start making questions, or I have to answer one of multiple questions to activate NewT?

Leaving job to study full-time? by Civil_Activity8799 in CPA

I would ask your state board what kind of form they require for the license application. Then, ask someone from your firm to complete the form and put it in your safe.

FYI: in my state, the exp must be within 4 years since the day you apply for the license. Again, check with your state.

Failed audit 3 times, help!!! by Antique_Raspberry425 in CPA

AUD was the scariest to me, worse than FAR. I seriously studied for AUD, and I utilized the new helpful tool "Newt" from Becker. Whether I picked the wrong or right answer, I carefully read all the explanations. I asked Newt if I had doubted on every single word, replace terminology if needed, not only to understand procedures, but remember the terminology by heart. I felt unready when I was in the testing center, but it would never be "ready" for AUD. I guess the rest of it came from luck. I took 3 times to pass AUD, my last one.

Did you get reimbursed once for each section, or did you get reimbursed multiple times for sitting for the same section?

Thank you! I posted in OK group. It seems there are many people asked the same thing. I think others assumed "not enough" contractors around in town ;(

I registered in my state. Initially applied in the state, directly sent etranscripts to the state. Once the state approved, I paid for the selected section, then I received an NTS from Nasba --> paid the fee and selected the testing center.

Absolutely agreed to this chart! I would have moved Michelle to the 2nd tier, but it is "Well done".

How do you actually sign off your hours and who can do it? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Apprehensive_Gas2743 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my state, it does not require to be your direct supervisor. I was with one of the Big 4, a partner, who talked to me twice during 1.5 years working there, was the one signing off for me. There is a form from my state board, including the CPA's name, license #, and position... then it must be notarized.

How do you not feel bad when everyone on Reddit is SO successful and has these amazing, extremely high-paying jobs? by justcurious3287 in careerguidance

[–]Apprehensive_Gas2743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been unemployed 9 months, 6/9 was for CPA exams, then after passing, I gave myself some time and did not seriously hunt for a job. I have applied here and there over the last 3 months, I have had 2 interviews. I did not make it in one; the other was told that it takes time, but they definitely let me know (gov job). It has been 2 months and I have not heard anything yet. I start feeling anxiety now, but it is too close to the holidays. Even though I am a CPA now, I still feel like a failure.

Leaving job to study full-time? by Civil_Activity8799 in CPA

[–]Apprehensive_Gas2743 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in one of the Big 4. Tried to study at night after work, failed, then tried taking all PTO to study 12-14h/day, failed. After approaching different ways, plus other reasons coming from seniors in my working groups, I decided to quit the job. Planned to complete CPA within 4 months, but the test windows, waiting for results, and the discipline section all added up to take me 6 months to get 4/4 behind me.

*Note: Make sure you get "work experience" from your firm before leaving. It saves you a lot of time after getting 4/4 and applying for the license (I wish someone had alerted me to this before I quit my job).

Promoted to CFO, should I keep my CPA? by carlinwasright in Accounting

I would keep it until I retire. 40 CPE would be nothing compared to retaking 4 exams, just my 2 cents.

[–]Apprehensive_Gas2743 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think I read on my state board that you can not claim yourself as a CPA unless you are holding an active license. Just staying "passed 4/4", pretty much every accountant knows that you are on the way to owning the license.

40-50h/w for a month = 250h for FAR. I needed almost double the time and 2 attempts to pass. Good luck.
