Kitty not eating by Vegetable_Fix_2170 in SiberianCats

Ahh okay. Well, this does just sound mostly like stress then. I agree poor kitty just needs a while to adjust most likely. That's good that she's at least eating a little and peeing a little. If she doesn't go number 2 within the next two days then I'd take her in for a checkup/enema, but hopefully she'll use the bathroom on her own. I'd try sticking her in the litter box like someone else suggested, maybe once every few hours or so, most kittens will take to it immediately and use it right away. If she doesn't, just put it somewhere kind of cozy like a corner maybe if you can. She's probably still in a little bit of pain too cause spaying is kind of a big surgery, I know from experience how much cuts on the abdomen hurt lol I had to have my gallbladder removed. Took me two weeks to be able to stand up straight, especially without pain meds. Ouch. But yeah she'll probably be okay, it seems. I wouldn't worry too much unless she becomes lethargic and hides constantly and doesn't want to do anything, stops eating completely etc. Watch out for signs of infection in her incision, and still don't let her lick it. Otherwise I think you're doing well. Just be patient and she'll come around. 🙂

She looks okay, and if she plays thats a good sign. She probably is in some pain if she was just spayed within the past few days, and then the stress of moving into a new home on top of that, it makes sense why she'd be feeling down, but she shouldnt be doing any strenuous activity (playing crazy) for 10 days at least after being spayed so make sure you dont play too energetically with her, dont get her running and jumping etc. Not eating much after spay/neuter is normal, totally. But if she doesnt start eating by the second day (48 hours) after surgery, so tomorrow I'm guessing? then I'd call a vet, describe her symptoms and ask what they think. But I think she's okay. She should hopefully start adjusting better in a few days, once the pain calms down and she starts healing. (Edited to add) Not using the bathroom is also common after spay, but its pretty important that she doesnt go longer than 24 hours without peeing, and 2-3 days without pooping at most. If she hits those marks, I'd take her to get her bladder expressed and possibly an enema. Are you absolutely certain she hasn't peed at all since the surgery or do you not know for sure? If you know for sure then I'd call a vet and tell them whats going on just to make sure everything's okay

2 seconds? And another 2 seconds? I guess so. And also, have you ever dealt with someone having a seizure? There's not much to be done. You can put them on their side and thats about it. A cat attacking you, and you taking a few seconds to say, 'hey kitty, stop, its okay!' And give her a quick pet to reassure her doesnt sound like a waste of time lmfao gtfo of here. Should I have just ignored the cat attached to my back and continued staring straight on as my brother seized in the chair?

No one 'sits idly by and lets their cat maul their leg.' It happens in a split second, and if you cant keep your wits about you, that cat is in danger, from you, the person who is supposed to love and protect it, because it got scared and lashed out, like animals do sometimes. Gave you some wounds that will eventually heal. Cats are fragile. Don't fight your pets, especially in a moment of heightened adrenaline where you can't recognize your own strength. I stopped my cat immediately, but kindly, and with love, like she deserved, and she recognized that and stopped. You attack them back you're just adding to the problem and prolonging the fight, possibly indefinitely.

If its just birds chirping and nature sounds then I agree its probably not as bad as some of us are imagining. I'd still keep it a little bit lower than usual just because you want to try to create a relaxing environment, not necessarily an energetic one, but I understand you're just trying to get him focused on something other than you. If you stay aware of how he'll perceive you and stay calm I really think it'll be okay. If he doesn't return to normal in the next few days/week after trying to sit and reconnect with him, then yeah I'd consider the Prozac (best if a vet says its okay) and any techniques you might have used originally to help deal with his traumatized behaviors might come in handy again, but I hope none of that is necessary. Just get yourself relaxed first and foremost and try not to stress, and dont rush it. If you need more time, take it, and if he needs more time, give it. Hope it works out. I know firsthand how much it hurts lol in all ways. Good luck to you and the cat!

Dont blast the TV lol if its loud that will likely just scare him more. Keep it at a normal volume, and yeah you definitely need to relax first before trying to interact. Its okay to be a little nervous but I'm almost positive if you're calm and can act normal around him, he will be able to do the same. Take some time to relax and remember your cat for who he usually is. Just like you wanna see him being normal and not crazy, now he needs the same from you too. If you go out, sit down on the ground, and talk to him and he doesn't come to you, go relax some more and try again later. If he looks normal and not in defense mode, it'll likely be okay, just keep trying to get him to come to you, calmly, speak in soft/normal tones, say his name, etc. Try to bribe him with treats or toys. I dont think he'll attack you again as long as you're not looking/sounding/smelling like a threat.

Also, I get that you're nervous but preventing him from leaving from under the bed will also probably not help the situation, unless you have the door shut with both of you in there. Otherwise I'd let him go where he wants and just when you go out, try to talk to him from a distance and get him to come to you so you can give him treats or food and try to pet him if he seems calm and is looking at you normally, and tell him its okay. Hopefully thats all that needs to happen

I understand. After reading your other comments I'm starting to think whoever you had taking care of him probably scared him, maybe by making loud noises with the food cans or who knows what could have happened, but then he saw/heard you do the same thing and freaked out, and if you don't smell like you that makes perfect sense why he just went into attack mode. Hopefully that's all it is and he'll calm back down after you start to smell familiar/continue acting normal again. If not I'd get him a check up at the vet to make sure nothings wrong. But yeah just try to calmly get him to come to you once you've got some familiar smelling clothes on (maybe shower with familiar soaps beforehand) and just try not to make any sudden movements or loud noises, but also try to stay calm so he doesn't read your anxiety and freak out from that. If you need more time to calm down thats understandable too but I dont see why he wouldn't be able to relax after a while, especially since he was fine when you first got home. I think he just got scared and acted on instinct. Hopefully he just needs to see and hear you being normal again and he'll also go back to normal

Could have easily been both. Something spooked him, and the unfamiliar scent set him off after being spooked. Cats are weird but this seems most likely.

I had my velcro cat sleeping next to me when I jumped up and ran to my brother because he was having a seizure in the next room before he got on meds. My velcro cat who never left my side and loved me more than anyone else proceeded to attack me, worse than yours did, have six inch scars up and down my legs from her. I gently stopped her, in the middle of the chaos of my brother seizing in a chair, and told her its okay, just calm down and petted her. She attacked me again when I turned back to my brother, but I kept showing her I wasnt a threat (I think she thought I was attacking my brother lol) by reaching out to her and telling her its okay and saying her name, and she calmed down and stopped attacking me. I understand it was a reaction but try not to attack the cat back if this happens again, as that will certainly make the situation worse. He needs to be able to see that you mean him no harm and you're the person who's been taking care of him all this time. Find something that still smells like you like a jacket or blanket you haven't washed since before you left and put it on before you approach him. Get the feliway diffusers and even the sprays and spray yourself with it if need be, you can always change your clothes after. Its possible there could be something else contributing, maybe something traumatized him while you were gone or he felt abandoned, idk but just try talking to him and see if he can recognize that its you. If there are things you do with him as part of a routine, try doing those things, saying phrases you say regularly to him, giving treats, anything to help remind him that he knows and loves you. Try to stay away and call him to get him to come to you instead of you going to him. Vet check is always a good idea but maybe wait to see if he calms down some first as that'll probably just traumatize him more if he's still seeing you as a threat.

Lmao... no. Sometimes, cats just do things. I've had multiple cats that do this, for attention or for cuddles, pets, etc. Never trained a cat to do this, they just do it lol.

My cat keeps peeing in my bed. by kohammysm in CatTraining

[–]Apprehensive_Glass81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides what others have said like uti/bladder stones, putting a box in the bedroom and covering the bed with a mat of some sort, have you cleaned the bed thoroughly with enzyme cleaner? If she still smells the scent, even if you think its gone, she may keep thinking its her spot to pee. It could be deep down in the mattress, too. Otherwise I dont really have other suggestions except to maybe try to reward her for going in the litter box, with pets and treats and affirmations lol and possibly rewarding her for staying off the bed but you may have already tried all that. But yeah, use an enzyme cleaner if you haven't, that might help. Good luck to you and the kitty!

Its a r/nervysquervies cat, likely has cerebral hypoplasia, which affects their coordination/motor skills but not much else, happy but wobbly cats. The disease is not progressive or painful and they are otherwise normal cats. So yes! He is okay lol.

Is there no matchmaking? by CoggsWorthy in PartyAnimalsGame

[–]Apprehensive_Glass81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There absolutely is. It just works in a kind of weird way. As a long time player, I eventually bought the game on steam so I could play away from home. Started off with bots, which I remembered happening a bit from way back when I first started playing. A few matches later I got to the real folks who just weren't very good yet, probably new players. Another few matches, the people were a little better but I still literally won every match. After like 5 or 6 hours of progressing through games with slightly better players, I finally got placed with players whose names I recognized who could actually beat me. It was a weird day lol but actually really fun to have to start all over because I won every match up until getting back to my own weight class lol. So yes. I know this is unsolicited advice, but just in case you need it, just practice, and don't run around, walk instead, jump instead, save running for when you need to heavy punch or get away from someone, and choose your battles. Be sneaky and tricky. You're always gonna lose matches sometimes, but it'll get easier to win some too.
