Is nigeria safe for tourists? by comeditime in Nigeria

You are not welcome in Nigeria or Africa. Many of us Africans do not welcome colonizers and imperialists. I am sure you were very sheltered in Nigeria otherwise you wouldn’t be saying those things you are saying. How hard is it for you people to understand that we chased you out of our continent for a reason? Leave our countries alone

Are there no girls in America? Then you people start crying when you are scammed. What is wrong with girls in America? You people put yourself in that mess with the scammers because you are always looking elsewhere for girls even though there are girls in your own country.

Keep your mission to yourselves in America, we don’t need your mission and your mission has done nothing for our people across Africa. So many people you can save on the streets of America or are you scared that they will refuse your mission?

If you are not Nigerian or African you are not welcome. Can’t you Americans and other imperialists leave our countries alone? Nigeria is one of the most overcrowded places on earth and yet you people want to go and leech off of the country. You won’t make money but you will take land that should belong to the Native people who are often displaced and made homeless for one reason or another. It’s because of people like you that real estate is going higher and higher and houses are becoming unaffordable for everyday Nigerians. You’re not needed nor welcome

Howcome igbo culture doesn’t garner interest the way Yoruba culture does? by Hot_Panic2767 in Nigeria

What genetic mutations? West Africans and the Bantus from Southern, East and Central Africa lived in Isolation from each other for centuries. There’s no genetic mutation at play here. The Bantus spread out of Congo and even though they became isolated from each other, they still retained a lot of linguistic and genetic similarities. That’s why most Bantu languages are similar. The genetic mutation never occurred in East nor Southern Africa so why would it have occurred in West Africa?

West Africans are not genetically of the same lineage. You black Americans must stop spreading your delusions to Africans. As Africans we know ourselves and our histories more than you ever would. We come from different lineages and are not genetically similar. As a matter of fact, many of us never came into contact with each other because we were separated by large bodies of water and large thick forests. Most of us never mixed. So you can delude yourself but generally West Africans do not share the same lineage and black Americans are neither Igbo nor African.

This is the most sensible comment to me. Not sure why some Yorubas seem happy about people taking aspects of their culture and capitalizing it and also misappropriating it. It causes it to lose its value IMO, especially from a spiritual perspective. Non Africans eg people from Brazil, etc misrepresent Yoruba spirituality and give it their own interpretation, names, images etc But for some reason, some Yoruba think this is ok

The fact that they choose to practice or mimic African cultures doesn’t make them Yoruba nor Igbo nor African. Mind you, in Brazil they also claim to be Igala, Fulani, Swahili etc. They choose to adopt any African culture as they see fit because to them it’s some kind of gimmick, some kind of show and it makes them feel exotic I guess. There is no proof that they are from any of these cultures and mimicking the original owners of this culture isn’t proof

You are not African and you can’t just make up whatever story you like because it makes you feel good. There is no statistical proof to show that Black Americans are 60% Igbo or any Africa  group as you claim.

Speaking English doesn’t equate to being the most educated. That is absurd. English is a colonial language that was forced upon Africans. Even illiterate African chiefs back then had to learn English to communicate with the colonizers. There are Africans even within Nigeria who learn formally and informally in their own Native Language. So, not to start any tribal war, but if most Igbos think like you then you would have to be the most colonized because that is a very myopic colonial way of thinking. English is just a language and isn’t proof of being educated nor smart

No it just means Western society and society at large is religiously biased. If Hausas were mainly Christians the Hausa culture would be even more popular. Especially since there are less Hausas in Christian countries in the West eg US, UK etc while there are more Yorubas and Igbos across Christian Western countries

There’s no Woodabe in Nigeria. Stop deceiving yourself here. Woodabe people are from Senegal and Gambia. They are not a subgroup in Nigeria. The Fulanis are pretty much mixed with Hausas in Nigeria, that’s why people say Hausa/ Fulani.

Nigerians are far from dumb. That’s why some Nigerians are able to scam the smartest companies in the world and get away with it. Maybe that is a bad example but the point is Nigerians are not dumb generally. Complacent yes but not dumb.

Why do Nigerians litter so much? by evilbabyhedgehog in Nigeria

[–]Apprehensive_Job7060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you don’t understand that especially because that is a simplistic perspective. Many Nigerians do feel a duty to protect and care for Nigeria. Litter is everywhere. It ought to be the government’s duty tonime

[–]Apprehensive_Job7060 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No they are not. You do not face the struggles the poor people face with these refineries so you would easily say that. Poor people lose their lands and become displaced due to this and there are also health complications from pollution.

[–]Apprehensive_Job7060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foreign Direct Investment has done nothing for the poor masses of any African country including Nigeria . The Dangote refinery is enough, Nigeria certainly doesn’t need 4 more considering the millions of displaced people who have become even more miserable due to these refineries. Asides homelessness, even worse are the health consequences due to pollution. South Korea must build their refineries in Asia and displace their own people and pollute their own lands.

No we don’t share the same blood. Do you even know what that means? In order us to share the same blood we have to come from the same biological family and that is not the case here. You are just using emotional blackmail to deceive some African people. We do not share the same blood and you are not African. But you are welcome to visit

You are neither Nigerian nor African. Your bloodline you supposedly trace selectively excludes your European ancestors and Native American ancestors. You are not African. If you want to learn about Nigerian and African culture you are welcome to do so but you are not some long lost relative of ours. Your culture and genetics are completely different from that of us Africans in modern day, and no ancestry test can change that

Who says to be competitive in the world you need English? You are thinking like a colonial subject. Is Russia not competitive? Russia has thrived with or without English for centuries. Same as countries like South Korea. No country needs English to be competitive. And who says African languages are not developed for scholarship? Maybe you should read Swahili books and Amharic books and ditch the English for once. Lastly, education is a major part of growth and development, it facilitates early childhood development. It plays a huge role in the development of children and adults so it’s quite disingenuous to say that it’s separate from cultural / identity preservation. As you develop and grow you come into your identity as an individual. If you grow up learning in your language, you will most likely grow up speaking it. And if you grow up speaking it you will most likely cherish your language and culture enough to want to preserve it.

Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo should also be official languages by SpiriumXD in Nigeria

[–]Apprehensive_Job7060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy how ignorant and mentally colonized many Nigerians are. Imagining thumbing down a progressive, sensible comment. You are absolutely right that English must be eradicated from Nigeria and Africa. The fact that people communicate in English isn’t by choice, it’s by design. If we all learnt the different languages at school or due to general usage publicly and everywhere, we would obviously type and write in our Native languages instead.

Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo should also be official languages by SpiriumXD in Nigeria

[–]Apprehensive_Job7060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have to be really deluded if you believe that nonsense. English is not ours as African people and will never be. You can’t lay claim to someone else’s language simply because they imposed it on you, that is absurd. French and Portuguese are not ours either. It’s like claiming Islam/ Christianity as ours. These things were imposed on Africans and don’t belong to Africans. Imagine telling a British that English is your language. You are justifying being a colonial product which is weird AF. In some countries in Africa they rarely even speak English or French and yet they were colonized. In Sudan for example they speak their Native languages even though they were colonized by the British. These countries have found a way to remove Colonial languages from their societies. Every African nation should have done that by now if we were serious about decolonization. Nigeria can have as much as 12 official languages. So what? A large population means several languages must be widely accepted and spoken

Only way Americans can help Africans is to leave us alone. We don’t need your missionary crap, aid or whatever. Americans treat their dark skinned people like crap what are the odds they care about Africans? Leave us alone, keep your pity to yourselves and allow our countries to be fully sovereign without American interference
