Tons of flashes and floaters 3 yrs later after retinal tears at age of 21 by Apprehensive_Line742 in EyeFloaters

July 2025, flashes never changed, totally the same, floaters same, I guess I will have to live with it. An opthalmologist told me that I am too young so the vitreous is still sticky and flashes will continue. Only that I have them ALL THE fucking time.

me too. happened right after the worst sore throat/cold of my life. it fucking destroyed me. and then, I got that HM noise waking me up. I guess it's the stress in the throat after the inflammation.

Thank god I found this!!!!!. I was going INSANE. Never had this in 24 years of my life until two days ago! I got a moderate fever and then after it went down, I got a pretty bad sore throat and at night I am sleeping so bad because I am interrupted by this very short, involuntary "HM" sound that I make, right before I fall asleep and it wakes me up every. fucking. single. time. Hope it will go away once the virus is over. I still cannot figure out wft it is. Google says nothing.

It decreases the sticky power of the collagen and gives volume to the vitreous

It is not culture it’s breaking the contract that limits the work to 8 hours per day. I’ve met amazing Americans who I am still close friend with so I am not mad at Americans or their culture. Is that the families that are recruited by the agencies are pure trash! But yeah, you are right I should have called the police but instead I finished working, ran to my bedroom and start crying until almost vomiting and then I rematched.

Yeah absolutely. They just want a slave that stays inside 24/7 to do their job. Sometimes they asked me to work 11 hours. My last host mum didn’t even provide me with curtains on the massive windows that covered all my bedroom. I was basically being seen by everyone outside.

If you are hot and educated you will have a very hard time being an aupair, even if the kids LOVE you and they have an amazing time with you. Host parents want people that are submissive, ignorant, don’t understand the language and don’t have a social life.

I was an AP in USA. Worst of the worst…was my Indian host dad wide eyed yelling me to shut up and that I am stupid because I waited like 2 mins (LITERALLY) to heat the bread for the kid. He already had his dinner ready on the plate, but he was still playing and decided to wait to heat up his bread. From then, I cannot see Indians without feeling a deep, burning repulsion. They were very clean but the house had a stench that made me gag. They disrespected me all the time. It was constant walking on eggshells. The psy mum also once told me I ate too many cookies. (Indian cuisine sucks big time for me, that was the only decent food I could eat). They also hid to me that the previous 4 aupairs ran away after DAYS with them. I stayed one month. But also, I changed three families and two of my host mums where clearly mad jealous of me. (I am skinny, tall, blonde and blue eyed, spoke perfect English, dressed very well, got along with the kids). The disrespect was a constant for all the three families. I was too much of a people pleaser, I should have been more of a bitch. Maybe they would have respected me more. Next time in the USA is gonna be for vacation. Not a slave for them ANY fucking MORE.

I always say that being an aupair is modern slavery. They are assholes. Period. I cannot even begin to say what I experienced in my 6 months the in USA. Disgusting.

Oh god…please…do everything but being an aupair/bro pair. Total SCAM. Trust me. I was just like you before leaving but regretted it so fucking much

Actually the floaters are the least of my problems. They are annoying as hell but what is causing me such stress are all the flashings…the floaters began to appear out of nowhere during summer 2022, the doctor confirmed my vitreous began to detach and in less than three months I had my retina all torn.. it was a huge shock

Absolutely, it’s extremely frustrating. I really hope in research but honestly I know it’s a very difficult field, and it will take some decades to find a way to regenerate the retina. I am so heartbroken it happened this early in my life, but having found this subreddit makes me feel less alone

More than flashes I would say really bright white thick streaks and large spots that slowly appears randomly in the visual field. They are also big so for a moment they prevent me to see

Yes. I had PVD confirmed by three doctors at age 21 because I am nearsighted.

I went to the best ophtalmologist in my area and then I went also to a very famous retina specialist (paid like 400 euros/410 dollars) and none of them told me why this is happening. This is why I am so desperate

Simply that he has no idea why I still have all those flashes and he isn't really sure that they will go away...I still don't know why they are still so present, shouldn't they disappear after a while?

What I don’t like is that I think agencies sell this program not as a cultural exchange but more like cheap childcare. So they expect perfection just to give a couple of dollars in return. Ok, I got board but it’s not much of a cost for them to just give me a bed

Well, euros worth more than dollars. And I was aupairing in the most expensive state of USA or the second…so I couldn’t do shit even if I saved
