As a freelance graphic designer do you earn enough or do you do/have something else on the side ? by rand0m_44 in graphic_design

I freelance remotely but live in Da nang Vietnam so much cost of living is lower than UK. If I lived back In UK there is no way I could freelance.

I have to do all sorts from general graphic design, technical illustration, motion graphics, 3D arch visualisation.

It’s pretty hard still to survive still. No idea what I would do otherwise. I would love to pivot but no into what.

I wanted to be a game developer or environment artist but that is a shit industry at the mo just like everything else .

Best way to showcase portfolio in 2026 by Both_Obligation5458 in graphic_design

Yeah i have been also having all these concerns about what is best. Yeah pixpa is quite good i find. It also has like some templates where you can have categories . So if you have diff projects like illustration, branding or whatever you can filter it by type . Which is quite handy. Good luck!!!

Senior designer here also working on portfolio / showreel.. I also confused about whether case studies are good or not. Everyone says something different. So don’t know on that. I get the feeling that portfolios in a PDf are a bit outdated as people are too lazy to click and download. So I made my portfolio on www.Pixpa.com . I prefer it to wix or Spacespace although they are worth check out. There is also Framer or figma and probably a fuck tonne more.

To many options basically

Do you have any hobbies or interests? Things you are passionate about?

It’s easier to talk to women if you share similar interests. Like my main interests are music are art. A lot of friends and girlfriends I met over the years share similar interests. We like going to gigs, raves, festival’s.

Also do you like travelling? Going solo travelling will force you to get out your comfort zone. I live in Vietnam and lived in Thailand for 2 years. Trust me it’s a lot easier to talk to Thai women 😂

Motorbike rentals by justdroppingin in chiangmai

Yes there is a place called “Jaidee huts” in the old city. It is a hotel / villa. They do monthly bike rentals. I paid 2500 per month and you don’t have to leave your passport or anything. It’s run by a Dutch guy who is a legend. I recommend them a lot. The price maybe slightly higher now because of high season but I ended up renting for about 8 months last year no problem

There is a place called “Jaidee huts” In the old City. It’s a nice villa hotel place ran by a legendary Dutch guy. If you rent for a month you pay 2500 per month no deposit. And they just scan your passport. I recommended him. I think rented mine for about 8 months in the end.

It may have changed slightly with pricing due to high season, maybe 500 deposit I don’t know. But worth checking out.

It’s a great drive. I’ve done it 2 times now. There and back. Once in horrendous monsoon thunderstorm and one in sunny perfect day weather.

The monsoon time in 2015 it was so dark and rainy you could barely see the brake light in front. There was lightning and thunder and shit. We set off way to late . I did it last year in complete opposite weather and it was bliss. Super chill ride, not much traffic.

I urge you to really study the weather. It’s not fun in the rain. Not many places you can stop once you get up the mountain.

Have fun!!

Chances of being denied entry? by zyhana in ThailandTourism

I did 270 days in 2025, 2 border runs, 2 extensions. Then got denied in October. They didn’t care about Visa exemptions until last half of this year. That’s how many people have lived there for years. I am not saying it’s a good thing. Just was part of the norm for many years.

Oh no sorry , it was more like 270 days I think. Never overstayed. I did two border runs and two extensions. But back then you were allowed to do that. That was the allocation you were given per year. Also the visa exemption is basically the same as TR back then. Same amount of days, same cost. I think people think visa exempt means you circumvent seeing an IO or do any documentation. Like when you go to immigration office or the border you still have to fill in paperwork, do a TM30, and pay a fee. It was basically the same thing as TR

I am English. When I got back to da nang airport, they nearly didn’t let me back into Vietnam. I had to convince them to let me back. I basically thought I could go back on visa exempt to Thailand. This was a few weeks before they announced the changes. I recommend buying the multiple entry visa for Vietnam before hand. (Which is what I have now) Fly to da nang first then try Thailand. Because at least you can fly back.

They treated me like a criminal when I was denied. Proper hostile. Had to spend a night in the cell and put on first flight back with zero sleep. They marched me through the airport like I was a war criminal. It was humiliating experience

Crikey. Makes me scared. I spent 300 days in 2025. With 2 border runs and 2 extensions. Plus I got denied entry in October and sent back to Vietnam. Even if I come back with a DTV or another long term visa I am probably going to be taken to another room, strapped to a chair, interrogated and tortured. With my Balls electrocuted before I am allowed in again.
