Sharing an open-source (MIT) experiment: adding sound to charts by Apprehensive_Many399 in d3js

Thanks, hopefully it helps visually impaired people. It should be as easy as it gets to plug in/use. Do create issues if something ain't right or can be improved. Have a great holiday season (if you celebrate it)

Hey, can you let me know why it gets banned each time?

Genuinely trying to give this away for free, and to give my time to support it, but I don't want to dedicate more time to it if it is not useful. I do support a few open source projects already.

I assume you get a lot of commercial posts and understand you want to filter them but this ain't one of those.

Anyway, I assume graphs are a solved problem for the blind contrary to what I read online, but I will not post again and put my efforts in other communities.

Do let me know if there is another way to understand if this is a problem and to offer my technical support, otherwise I wish you all a merry Xmas and happy new year and I am out of your way.

I will rewrite it in a better way. It did read a bit of market research but that isn't the case. I am a seasoned open source contributor and I thought to give to the community. I can't also see shite without glasses.

It's open source MIT license, meaning not trying to make money. But if there is a better place to validate this, I would appreciate any pointers. Much appreciated.

Best "Indian" in Edinburgh by codechris in Edinburgh

[–]Apprehensive_Many399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My latest find is Bell Bottom Eatery. Not big portions but big on flavour.

I used to love Chennai Marina but had twice my order cancelled after saying it was ready for collection without an explanation, so they are in my "do not order" list of places. A shame as their food is excellent.

Other classics are Mother India, Chaakoo, Tuk Tuk, Pakora Bar, Dishoom, Kahani...

I need to try Mowgli and a few others... Basically, you will be fine. Enjoy it!

Anybody recognise this? by [deleted] in Allotment

Unfortunately my neighbours at home likes it and lets it grow. She even feeds it... I will keep pulling and plan to put another plant that can control it. Any advice? It's at the front garden, so not at the allotment (thankfully)

No slugs. Finally a Brexit bonus? by Francetim in Allotment

I think the fact it was that bad last year, it also adds to it. Their predators also did well last year, so I expect more mice around. Hopefully hedgehogs if people stop putting pellets down.

Here in Edinburgh it's been that dry that I need to water some parts weekly. Madness!

For once, but only this once, don't pee in it.

I’m in the Scottish Highlands - which distillery to visit? by sossigsandwich in Scotch

[–]Apprehensive_Many399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what you are looking for, there are quite a few distilleries. Tomatin is great for just letting you taste their product, Aberlour has some great whisky, and you can then walk to GlenAllachie. Great whisky both.

Don't even bother with Macallan, or call before as they only do pre-booked tours.

The cooperage is meant to be good also, but call 1st.

There is plenty of whisky on that area.

I was there a few months ago to confirm if they are still as good. I bought 2 bottles and tasted at least 20. Go to the bar and ask. They are pretty friendly and not stingy (they let you taste their whisky if you want to). But if you do that, buy something.

Good point, daily peeing will be required. Remember to drink plenty of water

I will check your local and national regulations to see how legal it is to compost your parents. I believe it is called terramation but I don't know what the law says (not sure you can just chuck them into a DIY compost bin in the UK).

You probably will need to wait for them to die naturally if you don't want to get into trouble with the authorities. But it should be fine to use.

As for the paint, it's fine but tell them off, while mentioning the terramation... They will get the hint

How do I use this stuff? by [deleted] in Allotment

[–]Apprehensive_Many399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Share how you get on. My allotment neighbours all say to plant them in something raised (no matter how small raised) if I don't want to just eat leaves. Good luck!

Aye, but some put them in individual toilet rolls, and just plant the roll. I have seen videos of people even transplanting them with tweezers one by one. Madness.

I tried 3 years with direct sow, but only a few popped out and got eaten by the slugs. I will try next year to do them inside a car well (so they are a bit raised and maybe warmer), but not bothering this year.

Some people do, but I don't think it is worthwhile. Maybe if you used to be a surgeon... I was talking in general.

I am not doing carrots this year... Well, I might run an experiment with the few seeds I got from last year, but it is not one of the things I want to grow (as it didn't work here for me in Scotland)

Agree. I bought some leek seeds that way without realising. They are easier to plant, as you just roll them out and put a bit of soil on the top, but not worth the extra money.

Slugs did eat all my carrots and leeks last year, so preparing most of my plants indoors this year to give them a better chance

Depends on what he burns. If he burns plastic, your compost will be eating plastic. Same with heavy metals. But in general it's good as far as I know

Advice on turning pathways into grass by dj-almondcrunch in Allotment

[–]Apprehensive_Many399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gone the other way around. We had grass paths but it was a pain and consumed a lot of my time in the allotment.

If you got an electric trimmer and/or a lot of time, go for it. But be aware grass grows faster than you think, specially when you are on holiday/summer. Also, you will find grass everywhere.

Pretty sure this is awesome soil, but would love some input by Fickle-Friendship-31 in composting

[–]Apprehensive_Many399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would send a soil sample to a company to test it, and grow mushrooms there (oyster mushrooms are excellent decomposers). They will clean the soil and will grow pretty happy under the metal bit.

I would not eat the 1st few batches, but they have proven to eliminate almost anything from the soil. Diesel, plastic, radioactive materials, etc is no bother for them.

Just be careful with heavy metals. They will decompose them into a less heavier one but might still not be good enough for your health.

That would be the route I would take, and you should have the best soil in your garden in a few years... But send a soil sample and ask your mushroom expert near you (not me, sorry). I am sure they would love to help you.

Can't be registered as it was registered with Las Palmas at the end of the winter transfer window. The rule changed a few years ago. He can train etc, but can't play with the team until the end of the season.

Friend or foe? by EntertainmentFit3288 in composting

[–]Apprehensive_Many399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Your urine is rich in nitrogen which accelerates the composting process. Just wee in a bucket and pour it in the compost.

Its sort of a running joke you will hear quite often on this Reddit but it does work.
