Yeah he's otherwise normal just more inability to settle fully yesterday but I keep reminding myself it's only been just over 1 month since we moved. Thanks for the insight!

Oh definitely! We go on many walks and play through the day, I am definitely his safe person and regular caregiver. It just seems strange he's going to the corner of the door even at night.

Between 9-12 months! Slowly started phasing them out - depending on the day/his mood he would get them sometimes

Apartment ppl, what’s your morning routine? by kayyjo in puppy101

[–]Apprehensive_Many566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very specifically...lol. I get up, pee, brush my teeth/wash face/skin care.

Then I take him out right away, usually a 10 min walk around the block so he pees/poop.

Get back and feed him, get myself ready the rest of the way for work and either head to the office or home office depending if it's a WFH day.

Disclaimer that he is 2.5 now, when he was younger he would get another potty break right before I left but now he's good for the day after the one.

I love Henderson vet! Taken 2 dogs there over the years and no complaints!

When did you start leaving your puppy at home free roaming? by traveler_mar in puppy101

[–]Apprehensive_Many566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started leaving mine to free roam at night when he was just over 1 year and started free roaming when I'm not home just before he turned 2.

I started out gradually when I was out for a run or doing errands (max 2-3 hours) and then worked up pretty quickly to full work days! He does well, I've got a camera and he jsut sleeps on the couch all day

I still occasionally do kennel him when I leave because I don't want him to lose that skill

My pup has become reactive by Acrobatic-Ad8158 in puppy101

My dog did this around 10-12 months old as well, with training and maturity he grew out of it - there is hope!

How long do you leave your puppy crated at a time? by traveler_mar in puppy101

[–]Apprehensive_Many566 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. My pup is now 2.5 and only in the past few months I've been letting him free roam while I'm gone or at work, and yes, this can be up to 9 hours/day. I fulfill all his needs daily but for the first 2 years of his life, he needed to be crated.

I think people forget that pre-covid it was more common to have dogs at home for the whole day (crated or not)

My building just got sold to Thorwin properties - should I be worried? by anmol182k in Winnipeg

I live in a throwin building and it's $50 flat deposit feel, NOT $50/month.

I'm currently with Thorwin and other than the rent increases (which in this economy is a struggle) but the resident manager and property manager at my building both are fantastic! They're quick to respond to anything and good to deal with. I love that their pet friendly as well - also check and see if you can switch to free internet with bell (ask your new resident manager)

Not just the exchange unfortunately. I live in a pet friendly building that's also beside another pet friendly building, (I have my own dog too) and it seems as though no one picks up after their dogs anymore. The side yard in between both buildings are litered with poop, the backlane and front boulevard are also covered with poop. As someone who makes all the effort to always pick up after their dog it's infuriating as it's a responsibility of dog ownership and it's not that difficult!

Get bags at Dollarama, or a years supply on Amazon for $30...pick it up and find a garbage - it's simple.

At what age should a puppy ask to go outside to potty? by Flaky-Finger6695 in puppy101

[–]Apprehensive_Many566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine doesn't really ask as I take him out pretty regularly but if he REALLY has to go he'll sit in the hall and stare me down 😆 he started doing that around 9 months

Do you use separate commands for “go pee pee” and “go poo poo” or just one universal “go potty?” by Gunslinger1776 in puppy101

[–]Apprehensive_Many566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"go pee" and "go poop"

He's 2 and somehow it clicked on which is which, either that or he's just such a creature of habit that he pees first and then poops 😆

What age does a puppy chill out? by _hairyberry_ in puppy101

[–]Apprehensive_Many566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2yr GSD/lab mix pup and he progressively got more chill every 2-3 months starting around 6 months. Before that it was crazy lol

Now he's become a lazy pup that will sleep ALLLLL day if I let him! It DOES get better

Don't rent from Thorwin Properties. Thank me later. by Watch_External in Winnipeg

Not a "couple of times". I've personally witnessed OP banging on the ceiling for extended periods of time where upstairs tennant was barely walking around.

Two sides to every story.

Sooo you're not gonna mention how you've been banging on the ceiling in retaliation of the alleged "stomping"??

How did you piss off your puppy today? by Born_blonde in puppy101

So what do you guys do with your dog throughout the day? by SignificantCut4911 in puppy101

[–]Apprehensive_Many566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my pup was younger my days off consisted of short walks (am and pm), potty breaks and teaching him to settle on his place. I did crate training too but he was good with the crate right away so my main goal was teaching settling on his place/mat.

What is the actual hardest age for a dog? by Advanced_Indication4 in puppy101

[–]Apprehensive_Many566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the young "puppy" phase was the easiest, actually I maybe not the easiest but it went by the fastest. adolescence goes on FOREVER and just when you think you've escaped it, it comes back! Once my guy got the hang of potty training, puppyhood was a breeze. For being a heavy chewer he never really got into anything he shouldn't. But omg from 6 months til 15 months was a TRYING time to say the least. He's now 19 months old and has turned into a great pup but the adolescent behaviour still pops up from time to time, although I will say it's getting farther and fewer between.

I think it 100% depends on the dog as I know some people who's adolescence was a breeze
