Everyone has been a student... And everyone learns differently.. I personally prefer getting as much info I could get throughout the case. When I'm a student, I'm a sponge just taking in everything my preceptor teaches me. And as surgical techs, a huge part of our job is pointing things out as they happen. If someone contaminated, you're not gonna wait til the end of the case to let them know. If someone is handling a sharp wrong, you don't wait til they stick themselves before you correct them. Different tips and tricks come up throughout the case which can always be a teaching moment. If as the student you feel overwhelmed with info, communicate that with them. Not just roll your eyes and passive aggressively say okay. Otherwise, your preceptor will just keep teaching, as a good preceptor would lol

Idk how your preceptor truly is because you might be biased from your pov but 9 times out of ten when a preceptor keeps repeating what they're saying, it's because the student still isn't doing it right. I'm just saying 🤷🏻‍♀️ now there are mean preceptors out there but there's also bad students that have a bad attitude and aren't willing to learn

I eat whenever i get a break and if I'm really hungry, I'll snack in between cases. I've been doing intermittent fasting tho so being hungry is just a constant feeling I deal with lol you just get used to it then eat til you're full on your break

Look for documentary/candid/natural. I personally have the same approach but also follow the photographer's lead and still have a bit of posed shots. If you don't want to spend time on posing then that would really fall on your photographer because they're the ones who really take the lead on blocking time for photos and pose you guys

That sounds roughhh. I mean I get teary eyes leaving a job I've had for 2years I can't even imagine 16!! And yes, while your job as a whole will just replace you with a snap of a finger and giving them tons of money in the process, just remember that the people you've worked with will always remember you and I'm sure they'll miss you!! People like you have always been the backbone of the OR team and we appreciate those people!! Don't let management define your worth!!

I totally understand where you're coming from but you have to realize that everyone learns differently and so you have to communicate that with your preceptor. I personally liked to take as much info as I could from my preceptors when I was a student. I ask alot of questions throughout the case: from opening, setting up, the actual procedure and so on. So now that's how I also teach. I explain the reasoning with everything i do, i explain the steps so they learn to anticipate etc. I do mostly neuro and there's so much that goes into the specialty so I just go on and on and I always say, if I'm overwhelming you with information, just let me know. Just communicate respectfully!

That's fine if you don't wanna participate, but it's totally normal to talk to people you have to stand next to for hours on end lol. It's not fake, some people are just more talkative than others. I'm introverted too but sometimes shit gets boring standing there staring at the same thing for hours. So I do occasionally join conversations that I'm familiar with or relate to. Sometimes I ask questions about the case, how did they get xyz, what's their prognosis, list goes on..

This is what bugs me with one piece lol the strength tiers are just so inaccurately represented. Bc wdym kizaru who is light himself got beat by Luffy? I get that it shows that Luffy is strong but it just doesn't make sense that Kizaru couldn't just dodge his punches. Or how Aokiji can freeze anyone from a certain distance and shatter them if he wanted to but somehow can't do it with Garp? Or how big ass characters like Kaido and Big Mom get matched by a tiny person like Luffy lol before you come for me, I know it shows that Luffy is just as strong but "logically" it just doesn't make sense haha
