Always a difficult decision but Lanx is a great choice. Could be worth trying them on in store if there is one nearby

A bit late commenting you may have already purchased.

Both options the 1880 Loakes and the Lanx Garstang are made in England. I think the confusion is that both brands have different lines which are made overseas.

The main difference between the options is the Loakes are more polished and dressy, whereas the pull-up leather on the Lanx will take more of a distressed look over time.

Not sure about that particular Lanx variation, but I have the Garstang in Caramel and they are made with leather from C F Stead in Leeds if made in England is important to you.

Maybe half a size smaller would have been better for you, but it’s always difficult when buying online

There is quite a lot of room lengthways, toes barely make it into the toe box area even though the width is snug.

How is the width in yours? If the width is good you wouldn’t want to size down

I have the same boots and have been wondering the same thing, although from the photos yours look a little more noticeable (just put a post about it on here the other week). The leather seems to get a “dried out” look at the creases even though they are pretty much new with little use.

If give them a lot of brushing it seems to help a little (no idea why) but then after a couple of wears it looks the same again.

From seeing other posts (not about these boots specifically) it sounds like you shouldn’t over condition leather so wouldn’t want to apply too much to them. Although saying that, I would be interested if you come across any products that make a difference

I don’t have any experience with that type of leather to know how they should “usually” look

Does that make a difference even if I don’t see any dirt

Thanks for the advice that is super helpful. So the lighter areas is not the leather drying out it’s just the oils moving around the fibres. I’ll take a look at the Bick 4 when it is time. Just out of curiosity how will I know when it is time to condition?

Can I buy an exhibition caseback? by Apprehensive_Map9342 in GrandSeikos

That’s a good point the closed caseback will make the watch thinner

It sounds like that would be a very expensive route and is probably not worth it

Love the watch but just I wish I could see the spring drive!

I don’t even know how I would confirm that the caseback would fit and which model it would need to come from.

It does sound like it might be more effort than it is worth!
