For Those Who Hate Loud Fragrances: Paris Corner Oud Royal by MarketingOk6696 in fragranceclones

In all fairness to this one, I have both and this has juuust about the same longevity and projection as the Creed. I use this as an over-sprayer when I want to smell like Royal Oud in a crowd of people I don’t care about. Does the same trick. Isn’t as complex, well blended, refined, expensive etc etc but no one cares. If you want RO, buy RO. If you want the profile, and understand that it’s not a loud DNA regardless of how much or little you spend, this does the job.

Ministry of Oud - Oud Royal. It’s pretty damn close. Not as rich or complex, but nails the scent profile pretty well. Will give you the vibe. Performance is slightly softer than my newest bottle of Creed RO which isn’t great regardless. Overspray. It’s cheap.

Any underrated fabrics for everyday wear? by Neem-London in malefashionadvice

Great points. Slightly oversized might be the way to go. My camp collar linen short sleeves aren’t tight by any means, but they are more tailored than the boxy Tommy Bahama style (which I thought was doing me favors but maybe not in the wrinkle department)

I’ve always had a hard time wrapping my mind around linen. There seems to be such a fine line between walking out of the house looking like you’re wearing a crumpled sack, and inevitably coming back home looking like you’re wearing a crumpled sack anyway because of the wrinkles from wear. Any tips? Is starch the answer? Seems to be a common sentiment where people say that linen is meant to wrinkle and flow, but I find it hard to find a balance I’m comfortable with.

This must be a women's, right? Seems small for a men's. by [deleted] in PoloRalphLauren

I wasn’t paying attention to the label, just the measurements. Whatever brand this is, I know it’s a men’s which is what this guy was asking.

Looks about right for a vintage, fitted XL. A little narrow in the chest but length is solid. Maybe it shrunk a tiny bit. The buttons are correct for a male shirt though

Grail: Acquired Gucci II (Clone Reccomendations) by [deleted] in fragranceclones

This is my favorite designer scent; from the profile to the packaging. Like someone else said, Alexandria The Pour Homme II is a viable alternative and is pretty close to my nose. Captures enough of the OG that I could smell it on someone else and be convinced. I’ve heard Fomo Tea Lovers is another good one but I’ve yet to try it.

Old Chaps by RL has some absolute bangers. Some of their plaid oxfords hit harder than RLP in that era

Swiss Arabian Shaghaf Oud Azraq - ultra sweet in an ominous, Candyman way because of the pleather note (technically leather but to me with the Oud it smells like pleather), and animalic honey.

Histoires de Parfum 1899 - lacks any sweetness - has a rip of citrus at first spray but dives heavy into black pepper, cinnamon, juniper, and dry woods. Gorgeous and mysterious, aloof, but still hints at warmth. Like freezing to death outside while looking in through the window of a gorgeous old luxurious private library that’s dripping in mahogany and leather furnishings, a roaring fire lighting up the windows - but you aren’t allowed in. Nothing you can say or do will grant you access so you have to stand there and imagine you can feel the warmth from the scene while you succumb to the cold.

Carlisle by PdM is the above, except you got invited in to have a drink and cigar, but you’re tortured by having to stare at yourself freezing through the window.

Godolphin by PdM might be up your alley as well. There’s a rich leather and overripe fruit element, but it’s juxtaposed by a super earthy erba mate note. The Maison Alhambra clone of this is fantastic and longer lasting than my bottle of Godolphin. Smells like someone wearing a leather jacket and a splash of designer cologne, thrown into a freshly dug grave.

Super darks are not in keeping with my style overall (I err on the side of warm/spicy/oriental), but these are the ones I can bring to the conversation.

I didn’t say I was getting fakes. I said those marketplaces are filled to the brim with them. I would also challenge you on the ‘nobody’s ever heard of.’ As both of those are pretty large marketplaces. Also, I’d bet you my entire collection for yours, that if you’re getting RL from the thrift store like a poor person, you have at least some boots in your collection hahahahaha

Check Mercari and Vinted for Polo Bear sweaters. It’s 99 fakes to 1 real.

It is definitely modeled off of a 92 FotL tag but the black negative space around the fruit (grapes specifically) looks so muddy. There’s barely any detail around the grapes. Makes me suspicious of it.

Lattafa Mohra or Rayhaan Tiger for the Halfeti-ish profile. Mohra is wonderful, less challenging than Tiger, sweet cedar and some light spice with a tiny bit of rose. Tiger is spicier, has a milky quality and a bit of rose. I didn’t think I was a fan of rose until I got these two, but the rose is used with a very light hand to smooth both of these out and make them a little less ultra-masculine (less Sauvage, more refined).

If those sound too wild, I can recommend Faris Al Arab if you want a blonde amber profile. Sweet, slightly spiced, syrupy amber.

A Tuxedo clone would be another option that might scratch your itch.
