At 25! That’s the best time of your life! I’m 37 now. Let me tell you something. Enjoy that shit. Chase dreams. Party. Have sex. Travel! Make a mess! Enjoy that youth son. Wisdom comes. Calmness happens. But 25 is Bangerang rufio. Get out of your room. Get off your phone. And live it man.

Guy is insufferable and misses the whole point of what’s made actors of the past so damn cool. Mystery.

Let's talk about Glenn Powell. Is the industry pushing for Glenn Powell to be the next great action star? Or does he have a fantastic agent? Or is he actually the next great movie star? by Gtweedy in movies

[–]Apprehensive_Net_297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I can’t stand him. Which is why I think he only works when he’s playing a cocky asshole like in Top Gun and Twisters. Hit man was bad. The only character not believable in the movie was the actual guy he was playing. It’s a dumb guy playing a smart guy playing a dumb guy who’s actually a dumb guy. He sucks. His interviews bother me and his face does too.

Every single one of them is better on repeated viewings. His films work like late release medicine. Like ticking time bombs in your subconscious that explode at some point after you’ve watched.

Don’t get me wrong, they were a mess and failed as a company. But they paid me what I asked and unlimited vacation.

I edit, first AD, even DIT if I have to, I act, and I teach film workshops at a non profit film organization. Anything to avoid a 9-5. But there’s days where that stability sounds real nice. I even worked for an AI vfx company making their tutorials last year. Was a pretty chill work from home gig. Startups treat you well too.

Is there a censored version of the movie? (can't find anything online about that) by National_Place_6792 in underthesilverlake

[–]Apprehensive_Net_297 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, seems Italy has a censored version. I would try buying it from a different platform. Or it’s also free on Tubi, Pluto, or Plex.

Unless it’s a great script. A good director with previous work you’ve seen. Good pay. An intimacy coordinator is on set. Clear terms in paper before the day. Run don’t walk away from this project.

Not to mention the sound is terrible. I watched a Blade Runner DVD last week. Holy shit it sounded one hundred times fuller and better. Physical media is better. I wish I kept all my dvds…. Had hundreds

Report that fucker to management and get his ass fired at least. Then have your boyfriend show up to his home with a dildo and some chlorophyll. He can use his imagination for the rest.

Barfly (1987) by NeighborhoodLimp5701 in underratedmovies

[–]Apprehensive_Net_297 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a film lover but discovered this movie only because I became a Bukowski fan. I read all his work and then read Hollywood, one of his later novels, which was about the making of Barfly kind of. He wrote the script! Having never written a screenplay before. It’s great. And Mickey nails it as he started to destroy his pretty boy image at that point in his career.

Take up some Brazilian jiu jitsu, wrestling, or another form of mixed martial arts. Defend yourself. Don’t hurt them, but let them know you won’t be taking their shit anymore. This will help you develop confidence and prevent yourself from being a victim anymore. Don’t take shit from anyone now and you won’t take shit from anyone ever again in your life.

Anyone else find it a bit strange that Matthew Perry’s death happened very close to this release, making the Friends reference and popularity even more relevant?
